OK guys...here's a challenging poll for you. I did a little research this weekend and thought this would be a topic of great conversation.

The question is, what do you think is the best cartoon featuring Porky & Daffy?

My choice was very close...I chose the timeless Duck Dodgers, but Robin Hood Daffy, Porky's Duck Hunt, and The Ducksters are not far behind.

What do you think?

I actually chose "The Ducksters" (released in 1950). I think it's the funniest Porky-Daffy cartoon Jones made in the 1950s.

Some more (but not all) of my favorite Porky Daffy outings are as follows (in no real order)
The Ducksters
Porky Pig's Feat
Daffy Doodles
My Favorite Duck
Duck Dodgers
Baby Bottleneck
Tom Turk and Daffy
Boobs in the Woods (I actually used to hate this one, but then i gave it a second look)
and the other McKimson one where Porky's hunting dog tells Daffy Porky will beat him if he doesn't get a duck, so Daffy plays dead and hides in the fridge.
lots lots more

I know I am a cartoon nut, but to explain the years next to the cartoons in my poll, I never go by a release date; rather I go by the copyright date listed at the very beginning of the film. I know some cartoons that have a copyright year that did not get released until up to 2 years later...but I guess that is just me being a little pick.

Only clarifying as always!:p

Although I voted for "The Ducksters", I'm appalled that you neglected to mention much of Bob McKimson's work featuring the duo:

"Fool Coverage" - Perhaps the best of the lot.
"Boobs in the Woods"
"Thumb Fun"
"Dime to Retire"
"Prize Pest" - I just love Daffy's "schizophraniac" bit.
the one (the title escapes me at the moment) where they are roommates in a hotel room

That's all for now.

Edit: I forgot about "Tick Tock Tuckered" and "Porky Pig's Feat".

My vote goes for "Riff Raffy Daffy" by Arthur Davis! This is one of my all-time favorites! I hated the way it was butchered when it aired on ABC! This cartoon, along with "Dough Ray Meow", "What Makes Daffy Duck?" and "Bowery Bugs" are Davis's best cartoons for Warners. It's a shame his unit was discontinued.

Anyway, my vote is for "Riff Raffy Daffy"!

By the way Lonestar, the cartoon you are thinking of is "Daffy Duck Slept Here". Just thought I'd help.

So many great films were on the border on being in the poll...I did not overlook any of the cartoons, but with only 10 spaces available, that's why I put the "other" category in. There are just too many good cartoons with P&D in them.

I believe the hotel one is "Porky Pig's Feat", which has that lard of a hotel manager overbilling their life savings (and also includes the Bugs Bunny cameo at the end). Then again, it could also be "Daffy Duck Slept Here", which was also a hotel film with the two of them sleeping and saying goodnight in several languages.

Was that what you were thinking?

Yes, the title was "Daffy Duck Slept Here". That was hilarious.

I love Porky and Daffy cartoons, Porky generally worked better with Daffy than Bugs, IMO, no matter what CN would like us to think. I love Duck Dodgers, Daffy Doodles, Daffy Duck Slept Here, Robin Hood Daffy, Porky Pig's Feat, and pretty much all the rest too. :D

You Ought To Be In Pictures (although Daffy and Porky aren't togehter for much of it.) Great cartoon. Also Daffy Doodles, Daffy Duck Slept Here, and Porky Pig's Feat are up there on my list.

I voted for Tom Turk and Daffy . It was a great cartoon until Cartoon Network started overplaying it...

I'm a big Porky and Daffy fan as you can tell by my name, but why wasn't BOOBS IN THE WOODS listed? That cartoon is simply excellent, and it's my favorite WB cartoon. It's a classic that always gets underrated, just because Chuck Jones didn't direct it.

"Boobs In the Woods" would make a good third cartoon for a 'non-trilogy' trilogy on Toonheads, to go along with the two other Porky-and-Daffy-in-the-woods color cartoons, Jones' "My Favorite Duck" and Freleng's "Duck Soup To Nuts."

The great thing about the series is how Porky's and Daffy's relationship evolved after "Porky's Duck Hunt" -- from Porky as the isle of sanity and Daffy as the complete loon in Clampett's B&W LT, to Porky as the naive innocent to Daffy the hecker in the cartoons of the 1940s to Daffy as the egotistical braggart in Jones' 1950 toons, with Porky as the sidekick who's in on the gag and as invincible as Bugs so long as he stays close to Daffy, who's a lightning rod for disaster.

Haven't voted yet, since there are so many that deserve the vote. One of the best cartoons to have both in it actually is only Daffy with a Porky cameo, thus not really counting(or does it?): The Great Piggy Bank Robbery! ...Actually, I can think of one more copasetic(sp?) with the theme, having found it flipping thru the Jerry Beck/Will Friedwald book: Baby Bottleneck. Clampett at the peak of his game(as with my all-time favorite Clampett cartoon Kitty Kornered). Just about any early McKimson one and Chuck Jones one can apply, since they both knew how to use the combo quite well.

They were paired in a lot of cartoons, weren't they? Porky is, although Daffy overshadows him, necessary in these cartoon pairings, because he is a straight man. Porky is not funny, his only humorous trait is his speech. Some could argue that he has more going for him than that, but he's a mild-mannered, timid pig. The perfect polar opposite to a wild-mannered, crazy duck. Porky generally wants to mind his own business, but Daffy either drags him along as a sidekick (in the Jones film genre spoofs) or annoys him and won't go away (mostly the way McKimson did it, and Jones in the 1940's.) Daffy gives us the humor, but Porky gives us some sort of ground-level. Daffy is, whether insane or avaricious depending on cartoon, maladjusted, he works best with someone different from him. That's why he worked so well with Bugs, as Bugs is also a fairly calm guy, until you make him angry. Personally, I think their best was "Dripalong Daffy", but I voted for "Robin Hood Daffy", that's a really funny one.

One of my favorites that nobody's mentioned yet was "Wise Quacks." I'll also go with "Porky's Pig Feat," "Tick Tock Tuckered," and "Baby Bottleneck" Of the available choices, the one I voted for was "Duck Dodgers."

I voted for "Duck Dodgers"--there's something about the use of "Powerhouse" in this one that gets me every time, and I love the way Daffy pooh-poohs Porky's logic and then takes credit for the very same idea. Kinda reminds me of some of my colleagues.

That said, my very favorite cartoon with Porky and Daffy is "The Great Piggy Bank Robbery." Since Porky only has a cameo, though, I didn't feel justified in voting for "other." (But there is that other pig at the end of the cartoon . . .)

Great Piggy Bank Robbery is one of my favorites too, but I don't consider it a Porky and Daffy since Porky only has the cameo. It's a brilliant cartoon though. :D

A cartoon you've not listed Daffy doodles.
I think Porky as a cop trying not to get angry is classic and Daffy is just nuts all the way thro this toon,It cracks me up.

My other 2 favourites are
*The ducksters(but CN UK over plays it) &
*The henpecked duck(Although Proky is only the judge)

I'm surprised "Ihe Ducksters" is in the lead. I didn't know so many other people liked it. CN in the US hardly ever plays it, it seems.

I had forgotten about "Daffy Duck Slept Here," that's an excelent one and I see it as a sort of complement to another one of favorites, "A Pest In The House" (which has no Porky in it).

"The Ducksters" is my FAVORITE on the list! Now if it was the best Daffy/Elmer cartoon, it would be "Wise Quackers"

I had to break from tradtiton on this one, but I picked "THE DAFFY DOC" (1938) it's simply one of Clampett's best Daffy/Porky cartoon. My favorite scene in this cartoon is where Daffy tries to perform surgery on Porky (after Daffy whacks himself over the head with a mallet exposing several Daffy's on whether or not to operate on Porky) by trying to saw Porky in half.
PURE EXCITEMENT !!!
