Excited with the box office returns of the past weekend, and they're assured it will gross at least $100 mill, they have greenlighted what will be the last movie in the now Scary Movie trilogy. The first movie pulled in $155 mill, and the sequel is expected to pull in $100 - 120 mill. Dimension will likely re-release the movie in August (like last year) to pull in a few more mill. SM3 is on tap for July 2002.
Man, the first one was mediocre at best, I hear the sequel is worse, and now a third? Ugh...these are the kinda sequel we don't need!

Not only mediocre, but disgusting. The first movie got only TWO laughs out of me,both in a row from the opening chase scene (when the girl being chased picks up a banana from a table full of weapons, and chooses the path in the road marked "death" instead of "safety")
I am curious about what the third will parody though...the first poked fun at teen slasher flicks, the second at haunted houses...not sure what genre of horror the third would be,I guess a monster movie.

All these unfunny Wayans brothers need to just stop. Either that or bring back In Living Color, where they were funny much of the time.

I found the first one quite entertaining. It was just a cheap laughs sort of movie. I have my doubts about the second one. I think I'll go see it, go on cheap tuesdays or something.

Well, don't get me wrong because I really like all the Wayans brothers, but that's just not my type of movie. I like some of the things they do, like mentioned above about the two pathways "death" and "safety". Funny stuff, but the majority of Scary Movie humor is just too much in the "sick" genre for my taste. I almost refuse to believe the parody of Poltergiest that they did in the second one when I heard it. Yick. Not interested.

I liked SM2 up until the very end, which wasn't particularly funny or tasteless. Tim Curry was kinda wasted, tho'...

As I said, I'll watch this movie (if it ever hits cable) just to see Beetlejuice the tiny-headed dwarf--I hear the Wayans boys had a hoot working with him. Trouble is, this movie stars the two unfunny brothers, Marlon and Shawn. Get Damon! Let him appear in 3 as the effeminate movie critic from In Living Color ("This film gets two thumbs up! Up where? You figure it out, big boy!" ;) )
Tim Curry, eh? He's great...wasted, you say? Can't be much worse than how they used him in McHale's Navy...I hope....

I heard the exact same thing from my roommate once he saw the movie. Funny, but only until the end.

did we really need an exorsist parody in this? if they were going to do something like that which has been done to death, they could have at least threw a new spin on it..they should have done something involoving poking fun at the special edition re-release of the exorcist from last year..something like that might have made it a little fresher and slighlty funnier..it's no surprise this whole thing was rushed out.. it shows..

Any remember that Excorcist parody movie Repossessed? It starred Leslie Neilsen and LInda Blair? Well, I saw SM2, and the whole Excorist parody scene was just like the one from the Neilsen spoof, except worse -- and Repossessed sucked! While I had low expectations for SM2, it was still cruddy. I give this fil a solid D.

I wouldn't go see the sequel because the first was so sick, I draw a line and the first movie crossed that big time.

yeah i remember "repossesed"..can't argue with your opinion on that movie..the only scene that really had me laughing a little was the opening with leslie neilson..he's teaching a class and there's a girl with a little mini dress on that's riding up on her as shes sitting down at her desk.. neilson is getting distracted so he tells the girl to please pull down her dress and she says "sure" and pulls her top down showing her rack.. my advice though, is to stop the tape after that scene and chuck it..you'll thank me.

I made through the first hour of the first one before I turned it off so I don't plan on seeing #2, not to mention # 3. :)
