I'm wondering what to expect. The trailer made it look like nonstop action. This thing was so bad when they finished shooting it, that they went back and spent like 25 million to REshoot parts of it. What can we expect? I, for one, loved THE MUMMY movies...and this is a prequel. So...will it be worth seeing?

I read somewhere, either IGN or Cinescape that once they got done shooting, the film's running time clocked in at a whopping 70 minutes. That's shorter than most animated films. Universal thought that was unexceptable so they went back and wrote new scenes so the film would come in at least 100 minutes. I don't know, I want to see this, but I see nothing but bad things coming out it. And I really like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. I don't want this film to give him bad publicity, but some people think him wrestling for the WWF is bad publicity enough. ;)

Scropion King will only sell because of Dwayne Johnson, (The Rock, for fans who don not know.)
He was the reason Mummy returns did well,

I don't see how this movie can be all that good. But, the Soundtrack sure rocks... :)
But I will probably see this movie. It looks decent enough to enjoy, at least for the action scenes. The girl is pretty good lookin' too.. :D

I hope it does flop so we don't have to see The Rock in anymore movies.
The 2nd Mummy movie did well because it was a sequel to a highly successful first outing. It had a promising trailer and was the first major Summer movie that year. The Rock had little to do with it's success. He was only in the movie for about 10 minutes.

Personally, I don't see the point. Technically, this is the Mummy III, a prequel for The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. (Obviously.) But really we saw enough of the Scorpian King backstory in TMR, and frankly the sand did better acting than The Rock. :p He was hardly in the movie too, just in the first part since that whole giant Scorpain thing in the end was pure CGI.

The Scorpion King will likely suck: hard. It really looks like just a load of mindless action with no plot whatsoever. And the original running time was 70 minutes?! No wonder Universal put their foot down! If I had to pay 10 dollars just to see a hour and ten minute long movie I would probably sit there staring at the blank screen in shock for about 2 hours! And then, after I got my senses back, I'd likely demand a refund, after tearing down the movie screen in anger of course! :p Well, at least Universal fixed THAT problem. It's just all the other 20 or so problems that matter now! But I still hope TSK does well, so we can have a REAL third Mummy.
See ya!

Ok, I guess I'll be the only one to step up and defend this movie. First off none of the Mummy movies were suppossed to stand out and make you take notice of the astonishing screen play - it was a movie that had the goal of making sure the audience had a good time while not dumbing it down or making it to corny. Mission accomplished on both parts one and two. Now with the Scorpion King we get the chance to see the Rock do something other than the people's eyebrow and the people's elbow.
Personally I think that the movie will follow the trend of the previous Mummy related movies and give everyone a fun ride - entertaining them with action, humor and a little bit of a love story. I'm actually kinda looking forward to it and have not been dissappointed with either of the Mummy films - finding them both very enjoyable.
Let the flames begin.

The thing about it though is that it has nothing to do with The Mummy. The Scorpian King was introduced in the 2nd film, and he was just a minor factor in that whole big thing. So he had a grudge, ate a scorpian, got revenge, got killed, do we need another backstory? :D I just don't get how it fits into The Mummy series cause it seems like a movie all on it's own since none of The Mummy cast are in it, since they can't be.

The Scorpion King was a real historical figure. United Egypt or something.... And later known as the Catfish King. :D There's something on the History Channel this month with more info.
But the movie version, according to the novelization out now, ends with the Scorpion King's psychic g-friend? Scorpion Queen? giving an evasive answer on the kingdom's future. Because she can't well tell him outright that Gommaroh's screwed.

That would almost be like starting to pick up Wolverine in the middle of the series and never once exploring any of his past - you will only get half of the story that way. By fleshing out the character they will not only flesh out more of how the Scorpion King got to the point to accept Anubius offer but also give us an entertaining story in the process.
Besides if we use that logic - did we really need Star Wars: Episode 1? ;)

Apr 17, 7 PM and an encore at 10 PM. Clear your night, folks--the bugger's THREE HOURS LONG.
Catfish King? Sounds like the name of a seafood joint...or a bad Amos and Andy takeoff. ;)
The Mummy airs on TNT at 7 and 9:30 PM on the 14th, BTW. Am waiting for Mummy 2 to hit cable soon.
