Okay I been I this board for a while. And while I been here there been people here that like to diss superman. Because some say he is to powerful other say he is not really beliveable and there really nonething that can cause a threat to him because he too strong and powerful or can not get hurt easily or any other reasons you don't like him for. And I understand your reasons why you dislike him. And while i am not a big superman fan, I
still respect him and no dought some people on this board respect him too.
Ps. When I say diss, I don't mean like people saying like superman stupid and other things. People say this and that about him and say their glad he is down power and this and that. And they supes fans argue with the people that say he is alright the way he is in the justice league and the superman fans says he is too much of a wimp and he does not use his full power and other things.
All i want to know is what people point of view of him are.
Like they say let go of your feeling and spill your heart out. :D
I really a big spiderman fan. :bosko:

Hey, I like Supes too. He's the quintessential hero, mega-powerful, noble, honest. He's someone to believe in and have your kids emulate.
And I love Spidey too (in case you hadn't guessed...)

I love Superman! Part of what's cool about the character is the fact that he has all of those amazing powers! Plus, he's one of the most human heros out there, despite his Kryptonian heritage.
Don't mess with the S!!! ;)

I've dissed Superman before. Nothing to what you were talking about. I just don't like Superman because he isn't my favorite. Probably my least favorite, but I do enjoy watching S:TAS at times. I enjoy the interaction between him and Bats in JL and in those cross-overs during TNBA/S...
But, I'll try and show the big S some respect.. (hey, I even put the S in red! ;))

still, u gotta give superman credit though.... he's like the world's FIRST super-hero. if it weren't for a "pioneer" like Superman, you wouldn't have other variations of heroes like the "modern hip" heroes like Spider-Man, "the dark brooding non-powered heroes" like Batman (tho he's kinda a pioneer too), and the "just plain dark and brutal" heroes like Spawn.
superman kinda wowed ppl back then, cuz he wuz a character who did what many could only dream of. plus he fought for the side of good. many years after that, both on TV and Comics, many colourful characters have sorta been based on good ol' supey, before defining each of their own identities and styles that differ from the old stuff...
i may be wrong, but dat'z how i feel

You got it dc_gothamite, I agree with that totally. Superman is basically the beginning of it all. he's the Superhero that people are more likely to name first or think about first. He's the ultimate good guy. He smiles, he's brave, helps out the weaker people with his awesome powers and doesn't use them for ill, yatta yatta. A Boy Scout, but much more than that in some ways. Yeah, having super abilities seem really unlikely, and being nice all the time as well, which I can see people dissing from time to time...it's just really hard to beleive, and some people want mega reality, and others want a touch of "what if", imaginative type reality. All in all, I found Superman to be pretty cool. Though as far as favorite and least favorite, he's more like neither. He's low on either list for me.

In comics, movies, and live action TV, I like Bats and Supes about the same.
But B:TAS was so much better then S:TAS. S:TAS was just too action based and didn't always concern itself too much with giving us anything deeper in it's writing. It was still good, but it didn't touch B:TAS/TAOB&R or BB for me. I still rank it higher than TNBA and JL though.

Superman is by far my favorite character - if it wasn't for Joe Mad! on Uncanny X-Men and the Electric Superman I might never have gotten back into comics the way I am today. Superman was the pioneer superhero - it was because of his success that Bob Kane was given the task of creating a superhero to be Superman's opposite. Not only has Superman expressed the highest morals and sense of duty of any character but he does it because of the strong sense of honesty the Kents instilled in him.
For the longest time Wolverine was my favorite character but that all changed when I started getting back into comics about six years ago - picking up virtually everything Superman I could find. In regards to the animated series I would still have to rate Supes my favorite - mainly because of the street focused stories followed by the over the top intergalactic type stories that couldn't be done with Batman. While I loved B:TAS and BB I rate Superman the far superior series (just my opinion tho).
BTW: Did you guys know that Superman was originally designed to be a science expirament gone wrong? Think about what the comic world would be like today if the idea hadn't been rejected.

Sorry, I still hate him :) It is just probably because I did not enjoy the comics, the movies, or especially the Superman part of the Batman/Super Adventures, and Smallville. It is just like I don't enjoy say the Hulk or Silver Surfer.
However, I did enjoy Lois and Clark - one of my favorite tv shows. This could be largely because of Teri Hatcher though :D but it had a lot of great stories. So an A+ to Superman on that effort.

Optimal321, it is so cool to see another Supes fan!! I'm very happy. Ya-hoo!! :D
Supermanpal, I think I know what you're talking about. I've also noticed that there don't seem to be that many Supes likers on the boards- well, not as many there are Batman likers. But I suppose that it can't be helped that most people here prefer Bats. I, for one, am a staunch Supes supporter. You go, Supes!!! :D

I am life long Superman fan, and what Superman haters don't realize when they say that he is too powerful is that he isn't a hero because of the SUPER, it's because of the MAN.
He may be an alien, but the person he is is something we should all aspire to. I know that I could never be that selfless. And ask yourself, if you had his powers, would you be the world's guardian, and put yourself on easy street? Exactly.
As much as I love Batman, if his parents hadn't been killed, he would have grown up to be just another rich guy. But no one had to die to make Clark a hero - he just does it because it's right.

All I'm going to say is that Superman is much more sunnier and happier then Batman. Batman is more of a darker character.

Superman is my childhood hero (along with He-man and She-ra, but i digress). He is an American patriot, even though he is an alien. He upholds American values and morals - he is honest, loyal, and virtuous. Yeah, he may be strong, but he has lots of weaknesses, most of which pertains to hurting innocent people. He's a cool superhero!! Superman's lucky he was raised by Martha and Jon Kent, they instilled great values in him.
I read the Death of Superman story and I didn't like how he was resurrected and all those posers there, but what I did like was all the superheroes getting together to mourn his death. I like it when other superheroes work with each other. I love it when Batman or anyone in the Batfamily works with Superman. :)

Uhhhhh, correct me if I'm wrong, but Bob Kane created Batman when he was sixteen. Bats was originally this totally brutal guy, but he mellowed out, then became dark and gritty in a more acceptable sense during the eighties. I read seventies Batman, and although he is certainly no Superfriend, he's no Frank Miller offshoot either.
Now back to the subject.
I don't hate Superman. The range of things you can do with him is quite large. But they don't fill the Milky Way.
The idea of the burden of carrying enormous powers, and then having humanity forsake you to boot sounds so much better than truth, justice, and the american way.
I'm by far no kind of patriot, and veiw that as kind of well boring.
That's why I enjoyed In Brightest Day or whatever, the one where Lois goes to that alternate universe. Clark was brutal!
Anybody can just fight for the good. It's what's expected. It's what you do while your doing it that gets me. Batman put down his whole life to take care of everyone else. He isn't trying to make friends doing it. To half-quote quite a few in TLH, he attempts to: "Do what needs to be done."
Batman sacrifices everything for what he believes in, his childhood, his adolesence, his adulthood. He will eventually die because of this. And he is doing it because he knows that no one else will. Superman wouldn't touch Gotham City with a ten-foot-pole. He's resigned to his fate, and it's beautiful, not suicidal, more so a martyr, than a hero.
There's this quote, and I'll have to fix this later, that was used in Catcher in the Rye that always radiated this to me.
I can't remember who it's by, so I'll fix that too. It goes:
An immature man what to die noblely for a cause.
A mature man wants to live obscurely(?) for one.
Like I said, I'll correct myself later.
This quote embodies to me why I prefer Batman, he never sticks around for the cameras and the thank-you's. He's too busy already saving somebody else's a**.

The only reason Batman was ever given a shot at existence is because DC decided that with the huge success of Superman they wanted to capitalize on the "super-hero" market and commissioned a couple of writers/artists to develop and new hero. Bob Kane designed Batman and after some tweaking DC had their second hero. If it wasn't for Superman we would not even know about Batman today - mainly because his birth, if you will, stemmed from the popularity of Superman.

I don't think Superman is too powerfull at all...and I DEFINITLY DON'T THINK HE'S UNBELEIVEABLE. He's very beleivable.

I think that a lot of people just don't understand the complexity of Superman's character. Here's a man with the power of a god who wants to do right by his fellow man, but never set himself above them. He's constantly walking the fine line between helping mankind and guiding it. His awesome powers are in direct contrast to his humble upbringing. He's also the last heir to a mighty culture that can now only exist in his memory. It's a story of mythic proportion.
Batman, on the other hand, is far simpler. He was hurt, and he's out for vengeance. His constant brooding plays well on the surface, but it can get old pretty quickly. Don't get me wrong,I like him, but he's not in Superman's league.

Both are very different heroes. I agree with you on that part.
