OK, this is a pin-up page from an old issue of Peter Porker, Spider-Ham I bought. Some of these parodies are obvious, like Batty Brant and Mary Jane Waterbuffalo. But 2 hae me stumped! Any idea who the two circled in red are parodies of?

The Hate-Mongrel is probably ignorance on my part, but the Alien? :D

If I remember correctly, the alien was a rather stinky fellow named B.O.--sort of an E.T. parody. He was being hunted down in the issue he appeared in by a Chuck Norris like character called Woodchuck Morris.

And Hate-Mongrel is probably a parody of Hate-Monger, who I remember being a villain, but I could be wrong.

You are right. There have been several Hate-Mongers, but that looks like the first one who appeared in the early issues of Fantastic Four. He died during his first appearance.

Admit to never having read "Spider-Ham", but have read DC's old funny-animal superhero book "Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew"; was drawn by Scott Shaw (who last I saw was drawing for the Simpsons comics) and written by Roy Thomas (at least the earlier ones), was published for about a few years in the early 80's. Somewhat amusing, particularly the story where the 'Crew teams up with the JLA (the "Justa Lotta Animals", that is...which featured such luminaries as Super-Squirrel, Batmouse, and Wonder Wabbit), who they discovered hailed from a parallel Earth (dubbed "Earth-C-Minus", to the Crew's own "Earth-C" designation; guess the writers figured the then-habit of naming parallel Earts in DC Comics merited making fun of) that apparently mirrored the then-current actual DCU. Foes in that story included the "Shaggy Dawg" (a hairy dog doing the Shaggy Man's schtick), the animal android "Amazoo" (parody of the old JLA foe Amazo), and "Feline Faust" (cat version of old JLA foe Felix Faust). One of the more amusing lines has one of the Crew note that they've never seen a "roden so grim, so determined!" (re: "the Batmouse"). Though I guess one would have to have a strong tolerance for Bullwinkle-esque bad puns to like this series (ex.: Batmouse's sidekick was "Boyd, the Robin Wonder")...
