R.I.P. Boyd Kirkland

When I was on Facebook this morning came across this sad news on Steven E Gordon page :


Since I don't have all the e-mail addresses that should be notified I'm doing it here:
Boyd Kirkland passed away 2 days ago while waiting for a new lung at UCLA Medical Center. Boyd's services have been scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 1 2011.

Wow indeed its sad news, i'm surprise on the work he had done over the years but probably more memorable is his involvement in Batman TAS and X-Men Evolution.

Boyd Kirkland had a tangible enthusiasm for animation as a medium, and for super-heroes in particular, having worked on many different series for different production companies over the years, yet always imbuing his work on each and every one of those productions with an innate high quality.

I've worn out old BTAS VHS tapes of episodes you directed, and you've left a brilliant legacy and offered up on of the definitive interpretations of one of the key figures in all of popular culture.
