When I was on Facebook this morning came across this sad news on Steven E Gordon page :
Since I don't have all the e-mail addresses that should be notified I'm doing it here:
Boyd Kirkland passed away 2 days ago while waiting for a new lung at UCLA Medical Center. Boyd's services have been scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 1 2011.

This is incredibly sad news to get. My condolences definitely go out to his loved ones.
His involvement in so many things that I've loved from my childhood up to this current point has been staggering and it always sucks when someone like that goes.

This is a shock. I didn't know he was sick and all. He was one of the first people I associated with superhero animation. Rest in peace, Boyd.

I had no idea he was even sick but I had wondered why I had not heard his name in a while. He was a super nice guy and gave a great interview a few years ago. (If anyone would like to read it, it is here: http://spider-friends.com/Credits/animation/Kirkland/InterviewBK.html)
My condolences to his family. Super-hero animation has lost a great one.

Very sad news, and condolences to his family and friends.
Boyd Kirkland had a tangible enthusiasm for animation as a medium, and for super-heroes in particular, having worked on many different series for different production companies over the years, yet always imbuing his work on each and every one of those productions with an innate high quality.

Wow. I also had no idea he was sick.
He did great work and helped create at least two shows that I loved.
I'll miss his work.

This should definitely be mirrored on the DC Animaton forum as well. R.I.P. Boyd. You are truly an integral part of my childhood. I've worn out old BTAS VHS tapes of episodes you directed, and you've left a brilliant legacy and offered up on of the definitive interpretations of one of the key figures in all of popular culture. You'll be missed.

This is really sad to hear. He had always been a great asset to any show he was a part of. Though I think I'm going to remember him best for his work on Batman TAS & X-Men Evolution.
RIP Boyd Kirkland.
