Hopefully it'll win Best Picture, but I wouldn't be suprised if the overrated Social Network wins.

Make it five, as it also has nominations for Best Song and Best Sound Editing.

It really deserves it. There were other good films this year, but Toy Story did it for me.

The Best Adapted Screenplay nomination is pretty baffling.

Well earned! As a movie, it's certainly the strongest out of all the animated films released this year.

For anyone else that is baffled by this, according to Lee Unkrich (http://twitter.com/leeunkrich/status/29997860741189632), it has to do with the fact that this movie is a sequel based on pre-existing characters.
To answer those who've asked: Toy Story 3's screenplay was nominated as Adapted because it's a sequel with existing characters.

I kinda expected it to be nominated for those categories. I mean it was one of the best films of the past year after all.

Fun fact: Toy Story 3 is only the third animated film (2D or 3D) to be nominated for Best Picture (after Beauty and the Beast, and Up; the latter also by Pixar). Beauty and the Beast remains the only animated film to actually win the award, but of course that may or may not change this March (?).
As for Best Adapted Screenplay, I imagine any sequel or remake (or otherwise) is subject to that.
In any case, I guess all we can do is stay tuned and see what happens.

It lost to "The Silence of the Lambs"

Yeah, as much as I like Beauty and the Beast, there was no chance of it beating Silence of the Lambs.
If you still want it to have some love, it will most likely be the only 2D animated film to be nominated for Best Picture.

I just checked and, I stand corrected, I guess.
That's strange. All this time, I thought it won the award. I really did. I must heard wrong somehow. I'm really sorry about that.
