Superhero Hype reports that the movie will run for 2 hours! This is what the site said:

You've heard 77 minutes, you've heard 110 minutes - there's been a lot of talk about how long the "Spider-Man" movie will be when it hits theaters on May 3rd. It's actually been one of the most frequently asked questions in the SHH! e-mail box over the last few months!

And rightfully so, who would want to sit in the theater for just 77 minutes after having waited for 20 years for Spidey to hit the big screen? Not us! And you won't have to either, as we have learned that the movie will run at 120 Minutes! "X-Men" clocked-in at 104 minutes, to give you some kind of idea.

2 hours is a good time to enable the film to set some box office records, wouldn't you say?

And Dark Horizons has a tonne of Spider-Man news up today (about the DVD, too!) right here:

Yeah, I hope it runs around 2 hours. Actually, I would want it to run close to 2 1/2 hours like the first Superman. That lends itself to telling a thorough backstory, as well as, ample opportunity to flesh out the characters. Still, Raimi claims that very little of what was shot was cut, so it's almost all there and will be very few deleted scenes available for the DVD.

In related news, I saw the soundtrack listing. Pretty good stuff on there. Pete Yorn and The Strokes being pleasant surprises. The Strokes track isn't new, though, and I can't remember if Yorn's "Undercover" is on his CD or not. I hope not. Others include Elfman score, Aerosmith, Sum 41, Macy Gray, The Hives, among others. There was supposed to be a track from the new supergroup, Planet Us, comprised of members from Journey and Van Halen. I guess they didn't finish up in time or simply didn't make the cut. That's ashame, I would have liked to have the material to listen to before the proper album came out.

I was hoping for a 130 - 140 minute running time, but 120 will have to do. Studios have certain expectations for summer action films, one of which being that they don't lag along at a slow pace. There is alot of story to fit in these 120 minutes and I'll be interested to see how Sam Riami (who just signed up for Spider-Man 2) will use it.
