O.k, lets be 100% serious with this questions:
Which anime do you think WILL/has a REAL CHANCE at being on ASA?
We've had a lot of "I'd LIKE TO see.." threads, but nothing with the consistancey of what is actually possible. Which anime programs actually have the content, thus making it an actual contender for ASA. A lot of anime has been mentioned before, which actually could probably pass on ASA, but ultimately has a snowballs chance in heck for ever actually being on ASA.
So, be real, reasonable, think about it...
P.S.-there is no chance anime like Ghost in the Shell, or Utena could even begin to contend for a spot on ASA.....and you know it...

Add Eva to that "No chance in hell" part
As for what could make it: Trigun would easily, maybe Lain if they want to take time with it. (except it is not action) And as strange as this may sound, Fushigi Yugi could also make it to the block as well. But then, there are a couple of scenes where Miaka is topless and there is talk of rape and gratuitous violence in the series (mostly by Nakago) I also would see Nadesico as on the block, but from how it sounds, that is more of a Toonami show. Then there is Excel Saga.....(but that is more of a AS Comedy show, isn't it?)

Nah, I think the whole structure of Lain keeps it from ever being on. I don't think the religous aspects aren't too much of a big deal anymore since 'Brain Scratch' got through unscathed, although a show that contains little more than Lain on her NAVI or at school isn't gonna exactly pull in the viewers. Too bad, I'd love to see the channel show some non-action/non-comedy anime, although I can't see it anytime in the future.
As for the topic, there is no anime I know of that could make it on in the current state (well adult anime anyway, we could certainly name Pokemon and the like since they love airing PC which is targetted towards 4 year olds)

i thought Big O2 had the best chance at being at ASa but it was just confirmed for toonami.
besides that, trigun would have the best chance, im really not looking forward to it, since 90% of the anime they show ive already seen.

I would love to see Utena (all 39 episodes of it...curse you, Software Sculptors! ) on ASA, but the later episode's more toned up sexuality (including homosexuality and incest) may be too much for Adult Swim. (And that's sad. :( )
More Gundam, or at least some other mecha series, will probably make it on ASA. I'd like to see the original Mobile Suit Gundam get a complete, unedited run on ASA.

Hahaha. Boy, reality seems to be depressing the hell out of all of you. Heh.
God I love company.
But seriously. A whole country producing anime and no one can think of one that could truly have a chance at making it to AS?
And I think you all underestimate what they would air.
But that's why there were so many "i wished they show this" kinda threads so that those with wings could fly to there dreams.
hahahaha, a little PC to add to the misery.
Sorry i don't have anything to add to the list though. I never really get a chance to look outside of the US. But i'm sure theres something.

Well, the original Gundam series did not have that much "objectionable material" in it. It was still a great show though. Maybe they should air Zeta Gundam with at least a TV-PG rating, or show Char's Counterattack (then F-91) as a AS Special movie or something.

I'm not gonna say none of these shows have no chance in hell. We said that about Cowboy Bebop, and CN sure showed us what for.
I will say a number of these shows, like Utena, Eva, or Ranma, have no chance at the moment. But we never know what's gonna happen with this network. Violence on AS has a better chance though.
I say time will bring this and then some.
In the meantime, wouldn't less objectionable material in Mobile Suit Gundam make it easier to put on?

What about Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040. I've only seen the first 8 episodes, but from what I heard, their wouldn't be that many edits needed. And if not the 2040 version, what about the origial OVA of Bubblegum Crash?

I would like to see Vision of Escaflowne on there. I think that could make it on... no really controversial scenes I can think of.

Well at this point, many shows we know can't possibly be shown on ASA. I don't know why everybody looks towards trigun and eva so much. Both are so overrated and they can't be shown anyways. There are hundreds of series in japan we don't konw of and are good. They could just get one of those. Not all anime has 'objectional" material. Seriouly how many of us knew about Cowboy Bebop before it was shown here. This show didn't get much attention compared to others but wouldn't you say that it is arguably one of the greatest if not the greatest anime ever made.

No chance of seeing anything licensed by ADV, since they seem to have made a deal with the devil...err, Action channel.

"No chance of seeing anything licensed by ADV, since they seem to have made a deal with the devil...err, Action channel."
I strongly suspect much of the reason for that is the Action Channel can show ADV's shows totally uncut. Cartoon Network can't do the same, though Adult Swim is much closer to showing stuff 100% uncut.
A show I would look for on Adult Swim in the future is Gasaraki. The Toonami people are already fans, but they said it was too complex and slow for Toonami.
That, and it's one of the very few ADV licensed TV shows the Action Channel doesn't list on their page.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I want to see Trigun and Lain on AS! I know Lain pretty much has no chance due to the whole "religion" issue in it, but I think Trigun can, and will air on AS in the near future(if I were a betting man, I'd say it'll be on it by winter/spring 2003).
Eva has no chance of airing on AS in the future due to the whole ADV(we don't want anything cut) stance(good for them, but bad for those of us who want to see the series before we consider buying it on DVD[thank you Funi foring getting YYH on AS, now I know I can wait for the eventual season boxes :D]) If Kenshin ever ends(just how many eps is it? :p ) i'd say chances are good that it airs on AS(it already airs on Latin CN, so it can't be that hard to get it here). slayers would be a great addition too, but it's owned by the evil mouse corporation after they purchased the Fox Kids library(can someone actually confirm this?) Esca would probably go to Toonami when its Fox Kids liscense runs out(2004?) probably with an uncut Midnight Run showing a la Gundam Wing. What would be cool for AS, but probably has no chance is Excel Saga, damn you ADV(I've heard that the extra special final ep was editted for jap TV anyways with an uncut DVD release, check out Anime on DVD (http://animeondvd.com) to find out what was editted since I can't remember off the top of my head.
Well enough of my ramblings, someone else say something :p

Disney bought Saban and the Fox Family Channel. Since a number of Fox Kids shows were done by Saban however, Disney now owns the rights to those shows...things like Digimon, Spiderman Unlimited, etc.
Slayers however, was only licensed to Fox for broadcast and I'm not sure if that was sold along with the rest of the Disney deal or not. Either way, CPM still has the DVD/Video rights to the series and since Slayers is airing on the International Channel, I'm assuming they still control the broadcast rights, but I could be wrong.
As for which anime series could go to Adult Swim Action...why do people keep picking recent series? Record of Lodoss War and Harlock Saga, which of course are part of Toonami Reactor, would be EXCELLENT for Adult Swim Action, not to mention Blue Sub.
Trigun and Escaflowne are also great choices, but I think shows like Lain, Eva, Utena, etc would not work well on the block.

Some understandable suggestions have been named.
Lain: The series isn't Action. Plain & simply. BUT, I will say that the story is very cool & complex, & would still be a great "Midnight show" kinda thing for Cartoon Network. But overall, the story is abit bland & tiresome for AS(action & comedy...nothing purely dramatic will be on AS...at least for a looong time, I suspect.)
Eva: I honestly dont see much wrong with this series. In my personal opinion, I'm sure it could make it on network TV mostly intact..but, lets face it, it has very slim chances. But, like some of you have said...CN could suprize us?
Utena: HAHA! I'm sorry, I really do love this series..but, ultimately, I feel its more of a Toonami show..but the sexual suggestions of the show, & it's extreme obscurity(I doubt half of America would understand the complexity of the series, at all), CN would be better off just not tampering with this property.
My personal vote:
Gunsmith Cats. Plain & simple. All they need to do is edit out the "website" which pops up a few times during this short lived series. I remember, on the Action Channel, they showed the entire OVA...which was 6-8 episodes I think. Hey, why can't ASA have a "Mini-series event"?? Honestly, it's perfect for ASA, & I do think its possible to see it on TV
