Now seeing that Epic Mickey returns Mickey to its dotted eye look over real eyes I thought it would be right to bring this into discussion. Now in mickey's earlier cartoons, Mickey had dots for eyes. Now around Fantasia(the first one, not 2000) Mickey was redesigned by animator Fred Moore and Mickey's dotted eyes were replaced by regular eyes. Now which mickey do you prefer?

Personally, I've always preferred Mickey with the peach-colored face and pupils in his eyes. The dot-eyed, white-faced Mickey always looked like a dirty rat or a creepy mime to me.

I prefer Mickey with regular eyes. Not only is he more appealing to look at but many animators are allowed to express his feelings better with his regular eyes. The dot eyes always seemed to limit what the animators could express in the character.
The dot eyed style was one used with many cartoon characters in the 1920s and early to mid 1930s. It's almost like a "product of a certain time" type of thing or an animation style you wouldn't see today.

I find the simplicity of the dot eyes gives him a more appealing design.

The Dot-eyed Mickey. Like Dudley said, it makes him look more appealing.

Regular eyed Mickey appeals to me a little more then Dot eyed Mickey.
Though to be fair, I did grow up with Regular eyed Mickey.

Dot eyed Mickey. Both for general appearance and personality.
Here's a great article on Mickey's evolution and it's relationship to Biology for anyone interested. It's by Stephen Jay Gould and basically explains how Mickey's appearance has become more child-like and cute over the years---basically becoming younger. Besides being a great scientist, he's also been on the Simpsons!

Dot eyed characters just look a little more kitschy and surreal to me than the ones with regular eyes.

Mickey's regular eyed look makes him look like a generic cartoon character while the earlier, dot-eyed Mickey looks unique and cool.

Dot eyed Mickey all the way, cuter, rounder, more appealing.

Regular.
I used to be a fan of regular eyed Mickey until I started playing Epic Mickey. Then I realized how expressive he was with dot eyes. It was a bit startling, but I think he's fine either way.

I like Mickey's dotted eyes, but I'll prefer his 'regular' eyes, which will help me recognize him better.

Regular eyed, for sure. Even though I loved Epic Mickey, I really don't like the dotted eyed style that I find creepy. (or worse, no pupil at all like the 2003 Ninja Turtles...ewww...)

I prefer the more modern version of Micky Mouse, you know, the one used in Micky's Christmas Carol and Fantasia, it's the version I grew up with and it's the version that most symbolizes the famous mouse to me. I do like the really old school version of Micky though and on the rare chance I get to see an old Disney short with the dot eyed Micky I do enjoy watching it, but the Micky with the regular eyes is my favorite version and probably always will be.

I like Modern Mickey more than "Classic" Mickey for a few reason.
1) The eyes look more normal and proper to me in Modern Mickey's face. While playing Epic Mickey, at time it seemed like Mickey's eyes took up half of his face which kind of weirded me out. Also, the eye of Modern Mickey allow more subtle expression like if Mickey wants to slyly look to his right, you just move the pupils and it's easily seen, but "Classic" Mickey would require moving a lot more and the subtlety is lost. Plus, you can make the sclera wider in Modern Mickey for surprise, while that's more difficult to pull off with "Classic" Mickey.
2) I hate clowns. I need to get that out of the way to explain why I prefer Mickey having flesh tones rather than the white pale skin he has in his "Classic" look. Even when I read him in the comics, the fact that he has no color in his face bothers me because other characters seem to have blood running through their veins. Flesh colored "Classic" Mickey also looks wrong because he'll have two black points for eyes and it looks weird to not have any whites.

I feel that old school face Mickey has certain charm over Modern faced Mickey

I grew up with a modern Mickey, but never actually payed attention to him until I saw him with dotted eyes. Maybe it's because characters are rarely designed like that anymore, but I just prefer it.
