Hardware Upgrades Now Scheduled and Updates to Avatar, Profile Pic and Albums

Our servers are now scheduled to be upgraded on the December 28th. The site and forums will be down during that time. Check in on twitter (http://twitter.com/toonzone) and Facebook (http://facebook.com/animationNews) for updates once the server does go down.

Also, the dimensions for Avatars and Profile Pics have been bumped up for all user groups!

All User Groups:
Avatar: 100x100 (File Size: 12K)
Profile Pic: 300x300 (File Size: 15K)
Albums: 100 Images, 275K Single Image File Size, 30MB Total File Size

Friends of toonzone:
Avatar: 160x160 (File Size: 22K)
Profile Pic: 400x400 (File Size: 60K)
Albums: 150 Images, 275K Single Image File Size, 50MB Total File Size

A heads up a week in advance is pretty nice, and I like the fact that we can bigger avatars and space in our photo albums. Here's hoping that nothing goes wrong.

Yes. We're also getting our own branded app from Forum Runner and getting rid of Tapatalk. Those who have an iPhone, iPod Touch or Android will be able to browse the forums using that soon. It'll be free to download. When the app is available, I'll make another announcement.

I kinda wish the FoTZ dimensions would be at 160x160, which is the same as Twitter's dimensions circa #newtwitter, but that's moot and me not wanting to re-size avatar pictures.

Yes, I updated my avatar. The image is 127x127, which Twitter created for the profile pic before you clicked to embiggen to the original size

Good to know when the next update will be so I don't get Database Error'd at the worst possible time.

(Testing to see if avatars are automatically resized or if they remain the same as you saved them).

It's definitely not a tonight thing, but once we do eventually move to vB4, I'll make it a point to see if there's a plugin available for non-iPhones/Androids.

Oh, God. No. I'm not up for that right now. I'm still recuperating from last week. Besides, too many of our scripts rely on the vB3 database and it'll take a long time to get everything in order.

That's nice, but I have trouble downloading apps from the Andriod Market.

*And I am less than pleased that a law compromising Net Neutrality on cell phones was passed today, but I digress.
