Yes, I know "Mary Poppins" is mostly a live-action movie, but it has a good deal of animation in it. But that's besides the point. This is a warning if you plan to watch "Mary Poppins" on ABC Family.
ABC Family airs the "Enhanced Home Theater Mix" version from 2004, which has replaced nearly all of the old sound effects with newly-recorded ones! Just about every scene has had the sound effects redone, including the wind sounds when they go from rooftop to rooftop on the chimney, a small "Paf!" sound when Mary sticks her umbrella into the cloud, new thunder and lightning sounds during the rainstorm, new firework effects during the "Step In Time" scene, and even a weird "Ka-Poof!" sound when our heroes jump into the painting (in that case, it didn't even make a sound in the original!)
Did anyone else notice this yet?
