Many fans of Cartoon Network's Justice League have the same question on their minds. Why did CN pull the much anticipated "Injustice For All" episode from their lineup, and replace it with "Fury," an episode that, for all intents and purposes, comes after "IFA" in continuity? We caught up with one of the Justice League writers who was able to shed some light on the subject.

Mr. X (not his real name) said that the episode, which was already finished and in the can, has been forced to go through some alterations before it can be aired. "We have been able to get away with far more in terms of violence and innuendo on Cartoon Network than we ever did on Fox or the WB, but I guess we pushed the envelope too far this time," Mr. X lamented.

The episode deals with a gallery of rogues who develop a powerful weapon that has the ability to alter personalities. They use the ray gun on the League, with some humorous and intriguing results.

"The Flash becomes lazy, and loses his sense of humor. Batman becomes clumsy and dim-witted. J'onn J'onzz turns into a party animal. Wonder Woman throws back a few beers and sits around the Watchtower belching. It's all very funny and very interesting to watch."

So how does this new, disjointed League stand a chance against the Injustice Gang?

"They don't anticipate what happens to Superman," Mr. X explained. "A lot of fans have been complaining that Supes seems like a pansy on JL lately. Well, they don't realize that was all on purpose. When they use the ray on Supes, he becomes a total bad-ass." Superman stops holding back, which he has been intentionally doing since the events of Legacy, and cuts loose, single handedly defeated the Injustice Gang. "At the end of the ep, he is the only one who doesn't get turned back to normal... next season Supes is totally hardcore all the time. He is like a madman. The real question next season is, does Superman need the rest of the League?"

So why is the ep being cut?

"Well, like I said before, we pushed the envelope too far on this one. CN sent us a whole list of things they did not approve of. Not the least of which was the level of violence when Superman unloads on the Injustice Gang. Not everyone makes it out of that battle alive. Secondly, the ray has some... interesting effects on Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl.... Let's say there is a reason that Thymescara is populated by all women, and Wonder Woman is no longer afraid to hide certain things about herself. Oh, and we had the ray turn John Stewart into a white guy. They didn't like that either. Not at all."

A new edit of the episode will likely air in May, with the subtext and violence toned down or omitted altogether. Rumor has it that the full, uncut version may air on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block over the summer. Some fans have already put a petition together, requesting that Cartoon Network do so. Skin color isn't a personality trait anyway

The only thing I heard about the episode was that Mark Hamill didn't like it. Something about the Joker being too much of a henchman.

Reliable Source Strike Again!

Just a joke, folks.

Discussion of this and other April Fool's gags is permitted. But we've been asked to close any actual joke threads, so I'm closing this one.
