I just watched "Over the Edge" about 3 times already, and the voice-casting there was PERFECT! :)

Now I was wondering, could anyone really replace these great voice actors? In my mind, there's really only 2 people that I think no one can replace. And those 2 people are Kevin Conroy (Batman) and Mark Hamill (Joker). These 2 guys have the voices Perfectly! Conroy has that deep, raspy voice which I always imagined Batman's voice would be. Hamill has that maniacal laugh nailed, and something about his voice is just so perfect for the Joker. I don't know what voice actors we'll have in about 10-15 years, but the voice cast right now is perfect. I can't imagine anyone replacing these great voice actors and I hope we'll have these guys as long as possible.

Thoughts?

Nope... This cast is unbeatable... PERIOD.

Kevin Conroy IS Batman. I just couldn't imagine ANYONE else voicing him. And Mark Hamill REALLY nailed the Joker in "Return of the Joker"... That's the performance that I wish he always would give- truly frightening.

And let's not forget Bob Hastings as Gordon, Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. as Alfred, and Bob Costanza as Bullock- absolutely amazing, every time.

I can't think of anyone being the voice of Dick Grayson than Loren Lester...course no one has tried to be, so I guess we don't know if there is a voice that fits better. But, all in all, Loren Lester IS the voice of Dick Grayson/Robin/Nightwing. The voice tone, level, the roughness or lack thereof, it all fits so well. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are always going to be the voices of Batman and Joker, I don't think anyone will ever be able to do the voices as well as them.

That is one of the great things about doing voice overs. The actors can keep doing it for years. Whereas, if they were doing the parts in a live action movie. They would only be able to do the roles for a certain amount of time before they got to old. And also it seems that both Conroy and Hamill seem to love the job. Not. like a lot of actors who feel they have to move on.

These are the voices that most people will always hear when they read the comics or think of the characters. I know that I will. I think that this is the best voice acting ever in any animated feature. Not only are the stars close to perfect, the guest stars are great too! It seems like every cool sci-fi actor and actress made an appearance.

Not that I'd want him replaced, but I think Kevin Conroy could be replaced. Dont' get me wrong - I love his work, and I'm glad he's done Batman for so long. But there are others that could do just as well, IMO. For example, I thought Mike Ironside did an excellent voice for the Frank Miller Batman in the Legends episode.

Mark Hamill couldn't be replaced though, IMO. He is, without a doubt, a superb voice actor, and his voices are so unique.

I agree with you about Mark Hamill's voice as the Joker is PERFECT and one of a kind. I also agree that Mike Ironside did an excellent job in voicing Frank Miller's version of Batman. But to me, Conroy will always be Batman's voice. If there ever was a good replacement, I'm sure he would do good, but not as good as Kevin. The only thing that did freak me out was the info I learned a few months ago about Kevin smoking to keep that raspy voice of his just for the part. This concerns me since our Batman will probably be gone shorter than we thought. Because we all know, smoking is bad. :bosko:

Conroy and hammill are most definitely the voices of Batman and The Joker for the ages. They most likely will be linked to these legendary characters the rest of their lives, and beyond that.

Another voice I can't commend enough is Efrem Zimbalist Jr. as Alfred. Remember the guy who was Alfred's voice in the first two or three episodes of BTAS? It was terrible. Thank God we have Zimbalist to hear instead of that stuffed up, nasally Alfred.

I just can't see anyone every taking over any of these roles - perfect example, look at the backlash that the new voice of Superman (George Newbern) has gotten in comparision to the former voice of Superman in S:TAS (Tim Daly).

I would hate to see the backlash a new Batman or Joker voice would get. (Altho has anyone ever noticed how similairly Hamill voices both the Hobgoblin and the Joker?).

It's sad nobody has mentioned him yet. Because HE is the reason Conroy was casted for Batman in the first place. I meen come on people!

O yea! I forgot that Keaton was the first person that had that low, raspy voice. But, I think Conroy has done a better job of Batman's voice. I never have thought about Keaton, but if Conroy wouldn't be able to do the voice again, maybe Keaton could still do the voice. I don't know what inspired Kevin Conroy to do the raspy voice, but if it was Keaton, then I thank him because I just love the voice of Conroy's Batman.

Ironside was a good choice for Miller's Batman, but I don't think he would suit the "normal" version of Batman. IMO, Conroy was definitely the best choice.

And, Green Hornet, what problems do have with the voice actors? You gave no specific reasons of why you would replace them all.

I like S:TAS better because I like Superman over Batman. But I still watch B:TAS occasionally and I wouldn't want any of the voice actors replaced. They all did excellent jobs. I have to admit that the voices suited all of the characters perfectly.

Agreed. But I also have to give hats off to Arleen Sorkin as Harley Quinn and Michael Ansara as Mr. Freeze. Both those actors did a superb job on their roles. Sorkin for her "gun moll" voice and Ansara for that very tragic weight his voice carried. I felt his pain just listening to his voice.

I actually think it was to get him raspier for the old Bruce Wayne part in BB. But now that he's doing normal Batman in JL, he doesn't have to continue.

But I agree, I can't see anyone really being replaced. Well, maybe Robin, because he would grow and his voice would change (I missed the Static ep w/ B&R, so I didn't hear the new voice or really see the new look)
