Why do people hate the cartoons on Nickeloden. i know that they are not on par with the look of like Batman, but still.
I watch Rocket Power, Hey Arnold, and the Wild Thornberrys and i think they are ok shows, but people here trash them. Is it because they're based on real kids, (except the thornberrys, but at least they say why she can talk to animals.) Some are dumb, (spongebob) but other than that, i think they got a decent line-up.
I just want to know. i respect other people's opinion, so i won't critize anyone's comments.

I only became aware of Invader Zim VERY recently. Way after all the threads mourning its cancellation. I've only seen a few episodes, but I dare say it's one of the best cartoons I've ever seen in my life.

Some Nicktoons are decent, like Invader ZIM, The Fairly Oddparents and many of the old nicktoons. But I generally hate anything from Klasky-Csupo (Rocket Power, Rugrats, As Told by Ginger, and Wild Thornberrys). There is something about shows from that company that bother me. It seems like its trying to insult my intelligence or something.

I don't like Nickelodeon in general. I'm sure that there are a few "diamonds in the rough" like Invader Zim, but for the most part their stuff is crap. And I just don't want to watch it.

I dont haven't anything against the cartoons themselves, heh, they're fictional characters after all. Seriously though I adore Invader Zim, Spongebob and Angry Beavers. I also really like Hey Arnold a lot, but I echo the Klasky-Csupo sentiment.
Aside from that my issues are with the Network themselves. Nick's done some cruddy things to folks who put out some brilliant work.Which is why I respect the toons I DO like on Nick much more than toons that have gotten fair deals at other networks. Heck if they could triumph while at Nick they deserve all the props they get and more.

i like spongebob, invader zim and fairly odd parents thats all what i watch on nick now
Well, for me,the most recent reason why I despise Nickelodeon is because they cancelled my beloved Invader ZIM >.< And,they only times they show the Angry Beavers is in the wee hours of the morning!
When I was little,I loved the channel. But,when I was little,Nick wasn't all cartoons (not that I don't STILL adore cartoons.I'm more obsessed with them now then I was then) It had really cool shows like Pete and Pete or Salute Your Shorts. Now it's all reruns of the same cartoons.

Ahh yes, the Nicktoons. I know that I've personally become bored with a lot of their stuff because either their stories don't seem that interesting or I feel like I've seen it all before in one of their other shows. Rugrats was good for the first season or two but I've kind of given up with no characterization ever occurring. I guess my faves would have to be Invader ZIM, Hey Arnold!, Spongebob and Fairly Odd Parents with honorable mention to Angry Beavers. I have yet to catch Chalkzone and I will watch Ren and Stimpy on occassion.
I'm still pained though when I see stuff like Action League Now! and Butt Ugly Martains taking over the air waves.
And to think they stopped production on Constant Payne for this crud. D'OH well it was to action packed and quality laiden to survive on their network for long anyways.

Good Nicktoons:
Rocko's Modern Life (God bless this show)
Angry Beavers
AHH! Real Monsters
Ren & Stimpy (John K style)
Doug (1st Generation: 1991 - 1993)
Kablam (Especially Sniz and Fondue)
Rugrats (1st Generation: 1991 - 1993)
Hey Arnold (Seasons 1 & 2 especially)
Invader ZIM
Fairly Oddparents
Action League NOW! (I count this...)
Bad Nicktoons:
Rugrats (2nd Generation: 1997-2001 and 3rd Generation:2001-)
The Wild Thornberries
As Told by Ginger
Hey Arnold (new season)
Pelswick (Does this still come on?)
Any other Klasky-Csupo crap that I missed...
Maybe:
Catdog
Spongebob Squarepants
Singin' Stray Cat

Nick-el-who? Oh, you mean MTV Jr.
Anyway, about the Klasky-Csupo stuff - I don't watch it much for two reasons. First of all, the style is UGLY. It's pretty well suited for a show like Rugrats, and I'm okay with it there - but when they start applying it to shows like Rocket Power, I honestly can't stand to watch it for more than a few minutes. A really superficial (and probably stupid) reason for not liking a show, I know, but it's the truth. Secondly, I haven't really been able to sympathize with any characters on any of the shows. And if I don't care about the characters, it's highly unlikely I'll give a great flying rat's foot about the entire show.
But as for the Nicktoons as a whole - yes, there are a few that I've watched from time to time, like Spongebob. Even laughed at a few of them. So I'd say in general, they're okay, but nothing's really caught my attention. Well, that and the fact that I haven't forgiven Nick yet for what they did to the Animaniacs opening.

Invader Zim is (was) the only reason that I've watched Nickelodeon in about 4 years.
The ONLY reason.

Good Nick Shows:
Zim, naturally
Rocko
Most Rugrats episodes pre-Dil
Occasionaly, Spongebob
Fairly Oddparents, which I actually think is really funny(i.e. the jabs at the Internet, Jay Leno playing a Chin superhero, and Tara Strong)
Hey Arnold!(I hope, but doubt, the movie will be good)
Nick Doug
Crapola
Hoo boy, where to start? Ginger, Pelswick, Butt Ugly, Chalk Zone(Trust me, it is BAD. It's a real shame that it's a hit.), and any Klasky-Csupo show as well as everything but the above. Sad.

I don't think they have done anything good recently. The slightly better stuff is old.

Invader ZiM (Which really should be on FOX)
Rocko's Modern Life (Damn, I miss this one)
Ren & Stimpy (John K. Version)
Rugrats (Pre-Movie Episodes)
Hey Arnold
Rocket Power (This really needs a different visual style)
Spongebob Squarepants (It's funny if you don't think while watching it!)
Anything else on Nick is unwatchable.
UN. WATCH. ABLE.
Oh, and The Adventures Pete & Pete now comes on the Noggin channel (forget when) , for those of us old school Nick fans that are interested. Speaking of which, I think Nick could at least make a channel for us 20 somethings with 1980's nostalgia. It's terrible that I have forgotten the words to the Salute Your Shorts theme song.

Salute Your Shorts Theme song/oath:
All: We love to laugh and talk and swim and play, and go on great big trips. But the thing that will last forever, are our great friendships!
Budnick: Camp Anawana!
ZZ: We love you with our hearts
...Forgot rest, I haven't seen it in ages. But I still remember everyone's names and personalities:
Ugh: The Camp Conselor
Budnick: The laid back troublemaker
Sponge: The genius
Donkey Lips: The fat guy
Dina: The rich princess
ZZ (sp?): The tree loving girl
(Venus De Milo): The jock...and I forgot her screen name.
Michael: The normal guy (Season 1 only)
Pinski: The cool guy (Season 2 only)
God I miss this show...

There are good shows:
The Angry Beavers
The Fairly Oddparents
Pelswick (though I don't consider this a Nicktoon by any stretch; it aired on CBC before it aired on Nick)
Action League Now!
Invader Zim
Spongebob Squarepants
Hey Arnold!
Rocko's Modern Life
Ren & Stimpy (the John K. eps, at least)
Doug
Aaaaah! Real Monsters
Rugrats (earlier episodes)
KaBlam! (a mxed bag if ever there was one, but the parts outweigh the whole)
...bad shows:
CatDog
Rocket Power
Rugrats (newer episodes)
...and shows that I could care less about:
The Wild Thornberrys
Butt Ugly Martians
As Told by Ginger
ChalkZone
Don't even get me started on the live-action junk they've got on now. Not a one of those shows can touch:
Salute Your Shorts
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
You Can't Do That on Television
Roundhouse
All That (once again, earlier episodes)
The Adventures of Pete and Pete

I think that we can all agree that we miss "Rocko's Modern Life" and it was back on TV. That being said...
Good Shows
Invader Zim
Hey Arnold!
Rocko's Modern Life
Pelswick (I know this doesn't count, but still...)
Decent Shows
Fairly Odd Parents (Any episode that doesn't have Vicky in it)
Doug (Before they sold out to Disney)
SpongeBob SquarePants (Only episodes featuring either Plankton or Mermiad Man and Barnicle Boy)
Kablam!
Action Leauge Now!
The Wild Thornberries (Only if I'm bored. Besides, it has both Tim Curry and Flea in it. I'm waiting for the episode where Dr. Thornberry comes out of the comvee wearing fishnet stockings and makeup and Donny comes out carrying a bass and wearing nothing but Fruit of the Loom underwear, or maybe a stategically placed tube sock...)
Bad Shows
CatDog
Ren and Stimpy
Angry Beavers
Rugrats
Ahhh! Real Monsters
Shows So Bad That the Master Tapes Should Be Shot to the Moon
As Told By Ginger
Rocket Power
Butt Ugly Martians (But unfortunately, I think this one fits in the "import" category with Pelswick)
I haven't seen "Chaulk Zone" yet, so I'll reserve judgement. By the way...
Any other Klasky-Csupo crap that I missed...
That doesn't include "Duckman", does it? :D
nerium_oleander

Cripes I forgot they did Duckman, Gregg Berger as Cornfed is priceless; well that's their saving grace I suppose, because otherwise I'd only ever watch Ahh Real Monsters. I like CatDog but it has a lot to do with the fact Jim Cummings is Cat. Again I like Hey Arnold, and am looking forward to the movie if anything to Just see what the hell happens when Helga spills the bean. I think Arnold Knows, but..... it'll be worthwhile if just for that.
I forgot that I do like Fairly Oddparents, but without them and with IZ and Spongebob having been cancelled, my sentiments about Nick are summed up nicely with the words of a Wiser being than I:
"Curse you Poop Dog! Curse yoooou!"

Their shows aren't meant to apeal to both Adults and kids (excluding Zim). Most of their shows are supposed to entertain kids ages 6-10. Honestly if you were 6 years old you wouldn't find rugrats bad, because that's the audience Rugrats is aimed towards.

Dark Spider Comment- "I am CRAP!"...as told by Ginger
I thought it was unfair of me to judge "As told by Ginger" without watching it, so this past Wednesday I forced myself to watch this show at its 8:30 viewing. Here is what I conjured up...
The Story:
The episode feartured Ginger being blackmailed by some girl because she had hairy legs. The episode sucked to all heaven. This show was meant to appeal to teenagers and its suppose to accurately dipict a life of a teenager. That's why its on Teen Nick. But all it shows is some whiny girl trying her best to be popular and failing miserably. This is not what being a teenager is all about. I'm a teenager and I see nobody doing the stuff Ginger or any other person on the show does. Also the plot of the shows are scenarios that are too unrealistic. The show would probably be successful if it featured real life situtations, but the show shows us crap that would never happen to anybody under normal situations. Hey Arnold does a better job dipicting life than this show.
The Characters:
Are we actually suppose to relate to these characters? I guess we could relate to Ginger as some girls do try their hardest to fit in. I guess I can relate to some of the other characters to, like the weird brother or the popular princess of the school. But the other characters NO. Especially the girl that sounds like Chuckie from the Rugrats. What is her problem anyway?
The Animation:
Its Klasky-Csupo...enough said.
The Voice Acting:
Its Klasky-Csupo's crack team of voice actors. It's especially noticable in that gray haired girl with the sinus problem. She sounds just like Chuckie. Ginger's brother sounds like Fil from Rugrats too.
Overall
Everyone's complaint towards this show is valid, this show is crap. All my reasons are explained above.

Here's something fun to do if you bored: take an episode of "As Told By Ginger" and turn it into fanfiction of a show you like. He is an example:
As Told By Ginger: After overhearing Ginger and her friends talking about slumber parties, Courtney and Miranda decide to hold one themselves and invite Ginger. Courtney's brother Blake, not to be outdone, hold one the same night and invites Carl. Carl, however, is grounded, so Hoodsy takes his place. To make a long (and boring) story short, Courtney and Miranda have no clue what to do, so Ginger helps. There are also plots about Hoodsy wetting the bed and Carl taping a camera to Hoodsy so that he and Ginger's two friends (whose names escape me at the moment), can watch, but they're unimportant.
My Fanfic: Invader Zim: After overhearing some kids talking about how "inhuman" it is not to have a slumber party, Zim decide to hold one himself... at Dib's house. (Normal people aren't allowed in Zim's house, after all.) Hilarity ensues, which features Gir and his "date", a pig, playing with Dib's video camera, and Zim playing "Truth or Dare".
Dib: Alright, Zim! Truth or dare? Tell me if you're an alien! Tell me! Can't you handle the truth Zim? Can't you? CAN'T YOU?
Zim: Sorry pathetic Earth worm, but I didn't pick yet. I... pick... dare.
Dib: Oh yeah? Well, I dare you to tell me if you're an alien!
Dib then gets thrown out onto the lawn. He tries to get in, but Gaz won't let him back in. The rest of the story features Dib trying to get into his own house (scailing the walls, shrinking himself, etc).
Heck, it was fun, and my brother and I wrote it while that episode was on the air!
By the way, this is what "As Told By Ginger" is coming to, considering most of the characters spend most of their free time trying to impress Courtney Grippling...
Miranda: All right, Ginger. You've cooked up three huge wads of some extremely illeagal, dangerous, and downright "stupid if you use them" drugs, drank two cases of beer, and done countless "dirty deeds done dirt cheap" with Hoodsy, and the great, almighty Courtney Grippling is still not satisfied. What do you have to say for yourself?
(PS: I don't condone any of that. I was just making a point on how ridiculous the characters in that show are with their "fatuation" with Courtney Grippling.)
