He's posted this information (http://www.cartoonresearch.com/comments.html) on his website about the supposed writer and director for the film.
At least we know Joe Dante likes Warner Bros. cartoons -- he gave Chuck Jones a cameo (as "Mr. Jones") in "Gremlins," so there's hope they'll actually respect the characters instead of adjusting them to fit whatever gag they came up with for "Space Jam."

This is going to be GREAT!
Joe Dante obviously is a big-time fan of classic cartoons and could probably do a fantastic job on this movie.

sounds great. But my question is this: Why live action? It's been done. Bosko in the 1930's, Bugs Bunny and Jerry Mouse's movie cameos in the 40's, Roger Rabbit in the late 80's, Bugs again in 1996's "Space Jam". Now Scooby Doo. Now this. Hey, I liked all the live action/cartoon pairups in the past, but why is Warner Bros. so insistent on making Live Action/animation crosses? It's not how the characters were designed, really. It's fun to see once in a while, but I'm noticing a pattern. "Osmosis Jones", for example, had live action segments. "Cats and Dogs" was a live-action cartoon. Both were from warner brothers. Both suck. I have yet to see a fully animated, feature length, all-NEW movie featuring Bugs Bunny. No, good as some of them were, the Friz Freleng , Ford/Lennon and Chuck Jones 'cheater' movies of the 80's, don't count. They didn't even use fully titled cartoons, just clips surrounded by new footage, some of which was just so-so. If they want to do a Bugs Bunny movie, and they want to really capture who and what Bugs is, they must do it in a storyline that would suit Bugs and the other WB characters together in their own animated world, without intervention from the live action universe. Any one of the classic short themes could be elaborated on. You could lampoon a current movie. You could make an epic of sorts in which all the characters must overcome oppression or some obstacle (like in "Space Jam") but learn to overcome their instincts to eat or beat the crap out of each other to do it. (overcoming obstacles and learning to work together, bingo, you've got a family cash cow.) But seriously, when will they ever just DO a BUGS BUNNY/LOONEY TUNES theatrical movie? "Tweety's Highflying Adventure", though I've yet to see it, was essentially an elaborated episode of a mediocre TV show, and Bugs only made a cameo. And it was a D2V.

From two of the writers on "The Angry Beavers", the director of "Gremlins 2" and "The 'burbs" and starring that guy from "Zoolander" and "Shanghai Noon"? When does this come out again?

If you want to put an all-negative spin on it, sure. But it's also from the director of "Gremlins 1" and starring that guy from "Royal Tennenbaums" and "Meet the Parents."

Dude, I can't wait for the film. Also, it seems that you're the one being negative.

Sorry, I thought you were being sarcastic, as "Angry Beavers," "Gremlins 2," "Burbs," "Shanghai Noon," and "Zoolander" aren't exactly considered works of art.
And I don't exactly see how I was being negative either.

Companies now think animation is only for children and want to attract adult fans. I won't see the movie as Bugs Bunny was not meant for live action. :(
