As you may or may not already know, The Huntsman's got some screwy internet connection problems. Therefore, after much confusion, I'm apparently taking over. I'll try to update between 6 and 10 every day, like Huntsman, but on some days, I may be unable. In those cases, I will update late, NOT early. I'll try to let you know ahead of time still.
WARNING: This situation probably won't end well.
In 2012, the governments of the world began to collapse. No one is quite certain why. The United States was the first to fall, as despite the president’s efforts to preserve the union, the split was too sudden to resist. New England shattered, then the South and the West. Canada fell into anarchy shortly thereafter, as did Mexico and the various Caribbean nations. The rest of the world watched intently, as the whole ordeal had triggered an economic catastrophe on a previously unimagined scale and many governments across the world had fallen as well. Those who survived agreed to unite in an effort to prevent the chaos in North America from spreading throughout the world. They moved their forces into Alaska, Greenland and Iceland, and the means for North America communicate with the outside world was severed as well.
North America would have to look inward to find its salvation. Fortunately, a few select individuals rose to the occasion, forming new governments and scrambling to rebuild the glory that was North America. This is their story.

This version of the game borrows heavily from the core mechanics that Johnny introduced for Rule The World V. Depending on your choices when creating your nation, you will get a certain amount of happiness and resources per year. These resources can be used to purchase investments, expand to new regions – IT COSTS FIVE RES TO CLAIM A NEW REGION – and train your army. Each nation will start with ten resources in order to speed things along.
Happiness has also been tweaked. Your citizens will request things from you depending on your economic, government and background selections. If they are happier, they will generally ask for less and may provide bonuses to your nation, but unhappy citizens will be quite vocal and they may be a threat to your governance.
Two new stats are added for this game, MORALITY and WAR READINESS. Morality starts at fifty percent and raises and lowers based on your action. If you decide to pocket resources that were intended to feed starving families, your morality will lower, but distributing the resources as intended will raise it. Lower morality will corrupt your citizens and make them more susceptible to certain actions, but the black market prefers dealing with like-minded souls. Higher morality, on the other hand, makes them less susceptible to certain actions, and your citizens will work harder for you in various ways when they know that their cause is just.
War Readiness if a measure of how ready your army is to fight. Most of the leaders that you will be playing as don’t have military experience, so you will be unable to increase the stat higher than eighty percent. Generals, on the other hand, can increase the stat to one-hundred percent. This means that if two players both rolled a twenty, the person with eighty percent would only have rolled a sixteen while the person with one-hundred percent would have rolled a twenty. War Readiness is increased by spending resources.
As with Rule The World V, you need to select one of each of the following.
A) Economy
There are three economic models: Capitalist. Socialist. Autocratic.
If you choose to be Capitalist, your people will be content knowing that they have the means to improve their lives and will be more productive because of it. You will receive +2 HAP and +2 RES every year, and your citizens will generally request less of the government.
If you choose to be Socialist, your people will be happy knowing that the government is doing everything that it can to make their lives better, but the cost of doing so means there are less resources available for other projects. You will receive +3 HAP and +1 RES every year, and your citizens will generally request more of the government.
If you choose to be Autocratic, your people are unhappy because there is little to be optimistic about in their lives, but they are very productive because they fear being seen as a slacker. You will receive +1 HAP and +3 RES every year, and your citizens will generally request nothing of the government.
B) Government
There are three government models: Monarchist. Democracy. Dictatorial.
In a Monarchy, it is your divine right to rule over the land. The people are generally content under your rule and are productive as well, but they are unhappy with the limited freedoms and will push for more. Failure to come to an agreement with them could threaten your governance. You will receive +2 HAP and +2 RES every year, and your citizens will generally request more of the government.
In a Democracy, people are free to choose their leaders and elections will be held every ten years. This allows them to keep a check on power, making them happier, but they are not fond of taxes and there are typically less resources to spend on government projects. You will receive +3 HAP and +1 RES every year, and your citizens will generally request less of the government.
In a Dictatorship, you have absolute control over the citizens and can’t normally be deposed. This causes your people to be less happy, as there is nothing they can do to improve their lot in life, but they are very productive because they know that you can make their lives far worse. You will receive +1 HAP and +3 RES every year, and your citizens will generally request nothing of the government.
C) Background
There are thirteen backgrounds for your leader: Disco God. General. Inmate. Mafioso. Meteorologist. Patriot. Politician. Priest. Psychologist. Reality Show Contestant. Secret Agent. Survivalist. Theoretical Physicist. Time Traveler.
Backgrounds explain how your leader rose to power and what bonuses you receive due to your previous experiences. Due to the nature of the game, some backgrounds may seem to clash with the economies and governments listed above. For example, a general who governs through martial law shouldn’t be a democracy. But sometimes, it’s more fun not to think about all of the inconsistencies and just roll with it. Also, you don’t have to roleplay as your selected background, so you can be a sane inmate if you want or be a disco god who hates disco music, but you’re free to roleplay as them if you want to.
Disco God: You were an internationally renown disco dancer. As the governments of the world began to collapse, you were too busy burning up the dance floor to notice. In fact, your marvelous moves mesmerized many, and before long, people from all across the region had come to your residence in hopes of being in your presence. It was then that you realized: the people needed inspiration now more than ever and your sweet moves were the key to uniting the nation. You put on your sunglasses, waved at your adoring fans, and knew that life was good. Who said disco was dead? Disco Gods get fifty percent more happiness per year.
General: You were a lesser general in the army. As the governments of the world began to collapse and the chain of command broke, you ordered your men to stand their ground and you managed to prevent your assigned station from falling into anarchy. Given the circumstances and unable to contact your superiors, you declared martial law, and soon had the entire region under your command. However, on a particularly busy day as you were preparing to inspect the readiness of some volunteers, one of your officers barged in and demanded that you follow him – the leader of your nation was still alive and had contacted your brigade on a secure line. The two of you exchanged words and you were authorized to use whatever force necessary to restore the nation. You told your men what your new assignment was, but unexpectedly, a private blurted out that you should be the leader of the nation once it is restored. Nobody disagreed, but what should you do? Is it honor you seek? Or power? Generals can train their armies up to one-hundred percent combat readiness and their training is twice as effective.
Inmate: You were the Emperor of France. As the governments of the world began to collapse, you laughed at the British dogs who had kept you imprisoned for so many years. They had tried to break your spirit, to force you to swallow mind-control tablets and attend meetings where Elvis Pressley and an African American John F. Kennedy talked about a murderous mummy, but you remained strong. And now, as the so called orderlies ran around in a panicked stupor, you knew that your time had come again. You tore free from your restraints and recited the speech that you gave to your men just before Waterloo, and from that moment on, nobody doubted your story and the entire region soon fell under your command. Inmate’s “have the support of the French government”.
Mafioso: You were a made man in one of the families. As the governments of the world began to collapsed, the don looked you squarely in the eyes and then had his right-hand man punch you in the face. You never quite understood why he did this, but perhaps it was symbolic of what the nation was going through, as even after getting punched in the face, you have to get back up on your feet and go about doing your business. Or perhaps he just felt like punching you in the face. Either way, what the don says, goes, and he believes this is a perfect time for expansion. He sent you and the boys to a region where he has a lot of influence and he expects your operation to go smoothly. And you don’t want to disappoint the don. Mafiosi have automatic access to the black market and receive a thirty percent discount.
Meteorologist: You were one of the nation’s top meteorologists. As the governments of the world began to collapse, your five-day forecast included a ninety-seven percent chance of pain. You then threw the anchorperson out of the window for all of the years in which they mocked you, made sweet love to their spouse, and set out on a mission to take revenge on all of the people who wronged you over the years. It wasn’t long until you racked up a body count that would make most hardcore killers blush, and after putting a bullet in the last O’Doyle, who did not in fact rule, you decided that it was a good time for a break. Everybody in the region was either happy that the scum of the earth had been removed or afraid that they would be next, so you were made their leader. Meteorologists are immune from negative weather events.
Patriot: You were an extremely popular television host. As the governments of the world began to collapse, you continued to broadcast your evening television program. You had been telling your millions of viewers that the nation was going to fall for years, and fortunately, they all listened to you when you advised them to invest in gold, guns and emergency seed banks. Realizing that it must have been divine providence for you to have actually been right, you quoted your nation’s founding fathers, grabbed your automatic rifle – one locally produced, of course – and instructed your followers to gather at a nearby memorial. You would restore your nation’s honor or die trying. Patriots can claim new regions in their starting nation at half cost..
Politician: You were the mayor of a moderate sized town. As the governments of the world began to collapse, you asked what this crisis would do to your poll numbers. You then cried. However, realizing that you could use this crisis to emerge as a hero, you summoned your army of bureaucrats to bureaucratize like they’ve never bureaucratized before. You assumed direct control of all public offices and authorized the police department, the fire department, and the sanitation department to use lethal force. It wasn’t long until you were in charge of the region, but like any good politician, you’ve always had higher aspirations. Politicians get fifty percent more resources per year.
Priest: You were a priest of one of your nation’s many faiths. As the governments of the world began to collapse, many turned to God in hopes of finding salvation before the end and your congregation soon grew to encompass the entire region. As you stood at the pulpit, you could see the fear in the eyes of the devout and realized that this must be a test. When humanity is pushed to the breaking point, it is only then that one’s character can truly be defined, but when tempted by sin, can you yourself walk the highroad? Priests experience twice as large morality shifts and their morality is twice as effective.
Psychologist: You were one of the nation’s top psychologists. As the governments of the world began to collapse, you kept mostly to yourself and simply observed the people in your region. As time progressed, you began to understand, perhaps more than anybody in the world, the human condition. You were already capable of getting through to even the most hardened individuals, but with your newfound perspective, you could convince just about anybody to trust in what you have to say. Psychologists are naturally more persuasive and receive an automatic bonus when dealing with NPCs.
Reality Show Contestant: You were a contestant on a popular reality show. As the governments of the world began to collapse, you remained convinced that it was all an elaborate ruse that was designed to make the next challenge more interesting. Sure, the host had just flipped you off and jumped in a helicopter, leaving you and the other contestants to fend for yourself, but you won immunity in the last challenge and have nothing to worry about. As the days pass, the other contestants notice you dutifully going about your business, gathering supplies and building your camp, and while they still insist that the show ended, you know that they can’t touch you due to your immunity and you agree to form an alliance with them. Before long, the entire region is following your example. Reality Show Contestants have immunity that prevents their governance from being interfered with by other nations.
Secret Agent: You were a secret agent for a foreign nation. As the governments of the world began to collapse, you smiled. You did your job well. The director back home might have actually been happy for once. You got in your private jet and were ready to take off when you received an urgent call from one of your compatriots. The plan had been compromised at the last minute and the leader of the nation managed to slip into a secure location. Your compatriot attempted to tell you where he was hiding, but the last thing you heard before the conversation ended was gunfire. You sighed, pulled out a cigarette and lamented the situation. If you want a job done right, you have to do it yourself. Fortunately, you’ve done a lot of favors for people in the region and have a base of operations to begin your manhunt. Secret Agents can give false orders once every decade and force a foreign nation to perform an action against its will.
Survivalist: You were a fan of an extremely popular television host. As the governments of the world began to collapse, you were unable to join the massive rally to restore the nation’s honor. Fortunately, you were told that the nation would be coming to an end for years, so you have a lot of gold, guns and emergency seed banks at your disposal. You also went a step further and have built fortifications all throughout your property. Your neighbors always mocked you, but like any good citizen, you agreed to be their de facto leader and protect them. It wasn’t long until the entire region came to you in hopes of learning your survival techniques. Survivalists lose fifty percent less land during warfare, seventy-five percent less land when the enemy is within two-hundred pixels of their capital.
Theoretical Physicist: You were a graduate of MIT with a PhD in theoretical physics. As the governments of the world began to collapse, the government-owned research facility at which you were employed was shut down. The timing couldn’t have been any worse, as you and your colleagues were close to discovering a reliable and safe means of teleportation, and sample GG-3883 was the most promising yet. After some discussions with your fellows, you decided to return home to your starting region in order to start the experiments anew, and as word began to spread that you were close to succeeding, the entire region gave you their full support. You knew that you needed a hefty amount of resources to actually make any breakthroughs, and while you were always more of a silent type, you had to take a stand in order to prevent your research from falling into the wrong hands. Now if only you had a crowbar… Theoretical Physicists have exclusive access to advanced technologies.
Time Traveler: You were from the future. As the governments of the world began to collapse, a group of scientists set out to discover a reliable and safe means of teleportation. Their discoveries would lead to the creation of a device capable of manipulating the space-time continuum, but before they could perfect it, the world itself was all but destroyed. Realizing that their research facility wouldn’t last much longer, you volunteered to take a one-way trip back in time, to before it all began, in hopes of preventing it from happening in the first place. Unfortunately, while you managed to warn the leaders of the world in time for them to get to a secure location, you were unable to prevent the collapse from taking place. You may have changed history, but things still seem to be unfolding as they did the first time. Using this to your advantage, you managed to convince the region that their best chance at survival was following you, as with intricate knowledge of the future, you are better prepared to deal with what is to come than anybody else. Time Travelers will know of major events before they happen.
Also, there are three types of investments this time. Normal investments that can be purchased by everyone, black market investments that can only be purchased by select clientele, and advanced technologies that can only be purchased by theoretical physicists.
Normal Investments
Conscription forces the citizens into government services, allowing you to convert happiness into resources, but war readiness will be lowered by the influx of untrained recruits and dissent will increase unless the reason convinces them.
Incentivized Defection allows you to spend any amount of resources you wish in hopes of convincing the people of another nation to join you instead. Its success rate depends on the amount of resources spent, and the happiness and morality of the target nation.
Public Works Projects increases happiness by ten percent by improving their standard of living. 5 RES
Espionage Programs send spies into a nation of your choice, allowing you to be informed of any decisions that they make in private. Spies have a high chance of being caught during the first four years, but if they last beyond that, they will be fully integrated and can’t be removed. 10 RES
Fortified Bunkers help protect your government from ICBMs, making them less effective and your investments will only have a fifty percent chance of being destroyed if struck, but MOABs, FOABs and Ion Cannons are still fully effective. 10 RES
Rader Stations allow you to be informed of incoming aerial attacks even if they were made in private and increase the capability of SAM Stations. 10 RES
SAM Stations allow you to have a twenty percent chance of shooting down incoming missiles, or a sixty percent chance if you also have a Radar Station. 15 RES
ICBMs allow you to destroy another nation’s investment and lower their happiness. It also lowers their rolls during warfare. 15 RES
Tesla Coils are defensive encampments modeled after the work of Nikola Tesla. Electricity is fed into them and then amplified, shooting out into arcs that electrocute any infantry and overload any military vehicle, thus preventing them from advancing within two-hundred pixels of the capital. They are incapable of stopping aircraft and must rely on other investments for protection from above. 20 RES
Naval Bases allow your nation to expand to or declare war on any nation with a costal border, but when using it to launch an invasion, you can't land too close to their capital. If the enemy has a naval base as well, you can't launch a naval invasion against them, but if they do not have a naval base, you will get +3 to your roll. It can only be used against one nation at a time. 20 RES
MOABs are conventional bombs commonly referred to as the “mother of all bombs”. While not as powerful as their black market counterparts, they are capable of destroying another nation’s investment and significantly reducing both their resources and their happiness. It also lowers their rolls during warfare. 50 RES
Black Market
Backdoor Diplomacy allows you to form an illegal alliance with a foreign power, but since North America is sealed off from the rest of the world, discretion is advised. Through a backdoor alliance, you can make requests or seek assistance, depending on your background, but they will typically ask for something in return. 10 RES
Black Ops employs the services of highly trained mercenaries provided to you by the black market. They can be sent into an enemy nation to assassinate officials and cause general disruption, lowering their resource and happiness gains, and occasionally stealing existing resources and sending them back to the holder of the contract. They will continue doing so for fifteen years or until they are dead. 20 RES
Chemical Missiles are typical ICBMs except for their unique payload, which deploys a highly toxic gas cloud capable of inflicting tremendous damage. When launched, it severely lowers an enemy nation’s happiness and cuts their resource production in half for the next two years, and the initial detonation is large enough to destroy an investment as well. It also lowers their rolls during warfare. 30 RES
FOABs are thermobaric bombs commonly referred to as the “father of all bombs” and are the most powerful non-nuclear bomb in the world. When launched, it can destroy another nation’s investment and significantly reduce both their resources and their happiness. It also lowers their rolls during warfare. 50 RES
Advanced Technologies
Firestorm Barriers are a defense system based on a network of wall sections that are connected to a state-of-the-art energy generator. The panels discharge a continuous, impassable energy field high above them, instantly destroying anything that attempts to pass over or through them. It can be used to automatically block enemy missiles, but it must be activated beforehand and doing so costs two resources per activation. 10 RES
Drop Pods are a method of inserting infantry from orbit hat allows troops to be deployed globally. They can be used to launch invasions at any point in the world, but war readiness needs to be over seventy percent and you can't land too close to their capital. They can only be used against one nation at a time. 20 RES
Prototype Teleportation Devices are capable of moderate range teleportation, albeit fatal to living organisms. It can still be used to transport goods and supplies across your nation in an instant, granting you an automatic fifty percent more resources per year and +2 to all warfare rolls. 30 RES
Ion Cannons are a satellite-based particle beam weapon system capable of obliterating any location on the world with a precise, calculated strike of unforgivable destructive power. They can be used once every five years to destroy another nation’s investment, or to simply wreck havoc in their nation to severely lower resources and happiness. It also lowers their rolls during warfare. 50 RES
Ultra Advanced Technologies
Clone Armies use the DNA of just one strong warrior to clone entire armies, now 100% loyal and mindless! WAR will increase by 3% every turn with no restraint. However, some will complain this method of warfare is unethical, and MOR will decrease as a result of using this - sometimes, even HAP will lower. 15 RES
Ion Bombs possess the power and devastation of an Ion Cannon, wrapping in a package which gives way upon impact. Though it can be shot down by SAM Stations, it can bypass Ion Shields. 30 RES
Teleportation Nullifiers will sense rifts in space and close them, preventing armies from teleporting into the country. 40 RES
Ion Shields are a forcefield-like system which will surround all of your earthbound land and negate the energies of Ion Cannons, rendering them useless. 50 RES
Stabilizing Signal Transmitters (SSTs) will send an unavoidable signal through the air to stabilize any unstable device, thus eliminating radioactivity and dampening explosive substances. In short, it will transform ANY missile fired at or bomb dropped on the possessing country, turning it into a dud. The only unaffected weapon is the Ion Cannon, for which an Ion Shield is recommended. 50 RES
War, for the most part, is the same. The biggest change is that resources no longer directly add to your strength, but resources can be spent to increase war readiness, which is the biggest modifier in war now. At the start of the game, your rolls are automatically cut in half, so you should probably spend a few resources here and there in order to get your war readiness up. Both happiness and morality can also modify the rolls, but those are special bonuses and will be outlined once triggered in-game.
+10 – Declared Private War (First Round Only)
+2 – Connection To Your Capital
+2X – For Each Flank On Your Opponent
+1X – For Each Ally Directly Engaged With The Enemy
-5 – Capital Movement
With that, I’d say we’re ready to get this experiment rolling. Please post the following information

Okay. Now, to get your feet wet, you can go through the old thread and take down everybody's actions for the last turn. If they claimed a country, subtract two resources from their total and give them that country on the map. If they spent resources to buy something, subtract the cost from their totals and add it to their bonus list. If they spent resources to make their own action, decide whether or not you can come up with a worthy event, and if you can, subtract that from their totals as well and create an event for the next update.
Then, once you're done with that, give everybody their resource and happiness gains; I included them right next to their totals to make it easier.
The Enclave claimed Chile; I just didn't post it because I was the host.

Mr. Evil Hugh Bliss, perhaps you could still control World Trade Organization and help Pharaoh with his oil drilling?

Mr. Evil Hugh Bliss, perhaps you could still control World Trade Organization and help Pharaoh with his oil drilling?
I would be fine with this. ;) The WTO is my biggest fear at my moment, lol....
Also, if anyone else wants to make an action, please post it in the ORIGINAL thread on this turn. Makes things easier for me.

Mr. Evil Hugh Bliss, perhaps you could still control World Trade Organization and help Pharaoh with his oil drilling?Spideyfan should still be able to do that. I've been using Wikipedia's oil reserves page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_reserves) Essentially, anything between 20 and 80 is +2 per round resources. 80 to 120 is +3 per round resources. 120 to 160 is +4 per round resources. 160 to 200 is +5 per round resources. 200 to 240 is +6 per round resources. 240 to 280 is +7 per round resources. That is, if The WTO is allowed to drill.

Oh! So that's why the bonus was so big!
Oh, and also, I think you mentioned this a while back, but I'm not sure.... that general the Russians gave Holly gave me "Military Experience" - you said that it means my War Readiness will increase faster, right?

Oh, and also, I think you mentioned this a while back, but I'm not sure.... that general the Russians gave Holly gave me "Military Experience" - you said that it means my War Readiness will increase faster, right?Normally, one resource equals a one percent increase in war readiness. However, having the "military experience" bonus doubles that, so one resource equals a two percent increase in war readiness.

Okay, so if anyone can find me a smaller map, I will be very happy. This one is really big and slows down my computer.
I apologize in advance for the slightly different colors - I'm using a Paint alternative, and that's probably why it's like that.
HERE IS THE MAP! (http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/6168/rtwvii2030.png)
Bostonia has begun to move in on Valhalla, as the western nations continue to colonize the east.
MAJOR EVENTS
Bostonia has granted Ireland their independence. Former General Thomas Duberman has taken charge, declaring Ireland a Capitalistic Monarchy, just like Bostonia.
MINOR EVENTS
In Beast Coast, the people are quite happy with the education budget, and HAP has increased by 10. In time, this may show even further effects.
Also, the renovations to the Pentagon have given new life to the nation's military, and War Readiness has increased by 10.
In Holly, the WTO has asked to explore the ancient ruins in Greece for the greater knowledge of mankind. Pit Allen has refused.
In Valley of Zombies, there has been a breakthrough in teleportation technology - scientists believe they have discovered human teleportation. However, without enough Resources to keep going, they were unable to complete their research. Mr. Drake may choose to continue funding if he wishes.
Furthermore, the bullet trains have helped to improve daily life, and so HAP has increased by 5%.

We must discuss how exactly we will be ruling this country. While I do not mind you remaining governor, I am wondering if it may be more efficent if say, I presided over the North American land, and you presided over the European land? Does that sound fair?
Also, I have found pictures of these "zombies" and feel that they are no threat to US security, but were instead normal citizens driven to madness by the reign of Locke over them. It seems he inspired much violence amongst his people.

Well, I hope nobody minds, but I've gotten a new map. This one's just easier for me to work with - please make sure you've got all your regions, though! I think I got it all right....
HERE IS THE MAP! (http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/8274/rtwvii2031.png)
Bostonia has not only launched its Ion Cannon at Valhalla, but it has also invaded Greenland through use of Drop Pods. Miss Smith is urged to take drastic action.
MINOR EVENTS
The Northern Republic has made headway in alternate energy forms, thus giving it a permanent +1 to per round RES.
In The United States of America, though a few lives were lost in the renovation process, Disney fanatics all over the country were quite happy with the attraction. The zombies are now in facilities in which they are being treated to hopefully someday rejoin society - only one has escaped, and Florida police request that you contact them immediately on first sight of this creature (http://0.tqn.com/d/goflorida/1/0/N/G/wdw-mk-mickey.jpg).
In The Valley of Zombies, researchers believe they have arrived at a breakthrough, and wish to begin experimentation, starting on animals and gradually working their way up. While the move may be controversial, the potential outcome could prove worth it. Scientists ask for 20 RES to follow through with these experiments.
On a related note, a man named Fred Maximum has arrived in Mr. Drake's country. He says he's from the WTO, and would like to offer a grant of 15 RES to the project, meaning Drake would only have to pay 5. In exchange, however, he wishes to supervise the project, meaning that should the technology be discovered, it will have to be shared.

You were hit with an ion cannon. You only had 11 RES left at that point, so it just wiped them all out.

HERE IS THE MAP! (http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/894/rtwvii2032.png)
This has not been a good year for Bostonia. They've given up some of their land in Greenland to the Golden Country in search of an ally, though the Golden Country did not declare war. Furthermore, the United States have launched an invasion on Bostonia, using their Naval Base to make significant progress. And on top of all this, Valhalla too has pushed back.
MINOR EVENTS
In The Northern Republic, the whale-watching tours have attracted tourists, but not enough to have any significant impact on RES. The initial rush, however, paid back for half of the expenses.
In Brightville, the rich natural resources of Mauritania have been exploited to gain a permanent +3 RES per turn. However, miners are complaining about hazardous conditions in the mines. If action is not taken, HAP will severely decrease, and the miners may strike. Alternatively, the mines could be close, but the benefits would thus be eliminated.
Search efforts in The United States of America have remained futile. Only one search party managed to find the missing zombie, and they were unable to capture them. Reportedly, he had this to say: "My name is not Micky! It's Ricky! Ricky Mauze!" On that note, Ricky Mauze devoured one of the people and ran off into the hills cursing the name of Troy Peterson.
Rehabiliation efforts for other zombies have made progress.
Furthermore, changes to alternate forms of energy in The United States of America and The District of Animation have proven unsuccessful. It has been blamed on lack of sufficient funding.
Valhalla has been contacted by Thomas Duberman, warning them to back out of Bostonia and surrender Ontario. It seems that Ireland is grateful to O'Sullivan's offer of independence and wishes to help.
In The Valley of Zombies, this past year without research has severely cut back on progress in teleportation technology. If Mr. Drake wishes to continue, he will have to offer a grant of 30 RES. Alternatively, he could spend half of it this year and the other half next year, but progress will be slower and scientists are getting impatient. Mr. Maximum would like Drake to know that his offer still stands, and he is now willing to pay a total of 25 RES toward the project with the same circumstances.

In better news... I would like to announce that I am proud to now be Mrs. Sabrina Leopardi! Leonardo and I just got married in a very private ceremony earlier this week! We feel that there was no better way to ensure my people, both in North America and in our new land holdings in Europe, that I continue to fight for your happiness. I would've invited more prestigious guests, but you know... wartime security woes and all.
That being said, I wouldn't be against any world leader sending a belated wedding gift of any kind. *hint hint* ;)
To officially unite my subjects, my husband's first duty as a member of my court will be to spend 5 RES on a Public Works Project in his home country of Italy. HERE IS THE MAP! (http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/7972/rtwvii2033.png)
Bostonia has joined the Atlantic Alliance. As such, they have combined Resources with the Enclave to build another Ion Cannon. Though the USA activated their Firestorm Barriers, this still could not stop an ion blast (which is not a missile, for the record), and their Naval Base was destroyed. As such, the blockade has also been nulled, having only last half a year.
Following this, the Enclave launched a massive invasion on American soil. Overwhelmed by the Ion Cannon, shock, and sheer numbers, the United States has found themselves in dire peril. Luckily, though the Firestorm Barriers could not stop the Ion Cannon, it did save the country from defeat - for now, anyway.
As such, the Ontario War has been renamed World War IV.
MINOR EVENTS
Due to lack of action in Brightville, a Gold Mine has collapsed, killing several workers. Citizens are outraged, and miners are threatening to strike. Brightville has lost 10 HAP and 2 RES.
Search efforts for Ricky Mauze in The United States of America were deemed useless after the attack. Progress toward other zombies has also been fluctuating. Several Mauze sightings have been reported around the facilities of the other zombies, but nothing has been confirmed.
In The Valley of Zombies, scientists are growing infuriated by the lack of funding, and many are now saying that the teleportation technology will never be achieved. Lack of support for the project has risen the price of grant to 45 RES. Fred Maximum's offer still stands, though, as he now offers to put 40 RES toward the project. Alternatively, Mr. Drake could pay over 3-5 years, though the project will move much slower and may require additional funding, or he could abandon it altogether.
The Land of Lipschitz has declared neutrality in WWIV despite having previously shown friendship toward the USA. Lipschitz explains that being crammed between two competing superpowers, he is merely looking out for his country. However, should either country provoke him, he will not hesitate to attack.
In The Russian Federation, a man named Akbar Otohim has developed a cult-like following in Iran. He claims to be Allah's chosen prophet.
Ireland has requested 8 RES from Bostonia so that it can build a Naval Base and assist in the war against Valhalla. Gen. Duberman feels adamant about supporting the country which granted them independence, though a few of the citizens are less than satisfied by the endeavor.

Johnny O'Sullivan stands on the steps of Beacon Hill, head of Bostonian government, wearing a close-fitting military uniform and a staunch expression on his face. His body is thicker, now, and heavier; his thin, gaunt frame has vanished into memory. His skin if flat and pale; his hair, once a fiery brown, has darkened and settled into warm brown. There is still a warmth to him, somewhere, but his gaze is a distant one. He is 36 years old.
PEOPLE OF BOSTONIA! Victory is at hand!
While the backstabbing Americans tried to catch us with our pants down, thanks to old friends and new allies, we wiped them off the map. As of now, their coasts are taken, their bases are destroyed, and their "mighty empire" is soon to fall. The Queen in the north has fought back, true, but it is only a matter of time until she, too, is crushed like an ant beneath our heels. And after that, I promise you, Bostonia will claim the glory it deserves!
We are on our way. It seems South America has fallen onto our laps. The United States will soon be ours, and Greenland, as well. Then, Canada. Australia. The world. A glorious new age is donning, my people! An age of the masses! An age of enlightenment! And age where Boston takes its place as the crown jewel of the planet Earth!
And to our friends in Ireland, the mother country, we ask for no favors, and we need no support. But your wish is our pleasure to accomidate; if you require resources, you are welcome to whatever you will need.

I actually may have been guilty of the common American mistake that wars over small pieces of land should only last a short while.
That said, I have had a revelation. I see that we have reached a point in World history in which weapons of mass destruction are being used quite frequently. By the end of this decade, I fear many, MANY, innocents will be dead simply because of our brutal tactics. After this war, I would like to set up a new United Nations, which will allow nations to discuss peaceful solutions and possibly reduce use of WMDs on civilians in future conflicts.

HERE IS THE MAP! (http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/8994/rtwvii2034.png)
The Experimental Bomb has been launched. However, the rulers of the world underestimated its power. When it hit, a large radial burst of energy was released, and a portion of the earth was literally wiped off the map. Countless are dead, and many more grieve. Citizens wonder why Mr. Peterson would allow for such an atrocity to happen to the very people they were trying to liberate.
Johnny O'Sullivan did not see the strike coming - he and his upper ranks, as well as most Boston citizens, are dead. Ironically, the capital city was not actually captured before it was hit, and such, Bostonia still lives, but it does not stand, as anarchy has taken over. Another ruler may try to surface and rise above the anarchy, but it will be most difficult to bring together all the citizens, especially when most of those citizens are brand new, having just been released from the Enclave into the less-than-capable Bostonian hands.
All over the world, people wonder: WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT??
MINOR EVENTS
The Beast Coast[b] has agreed to become an autonomy underneath the United States of America. Unfortunately, Peterson's attack on Bostonia has affected the Beast Coast greatly, and just barely missed their capital.
In [b]The 5th Country, citizens don't much care about the goings-on in the USA anymore. As such, all they've lost is some morality.
In Holly, Pit Allen laughs at the events in the west. He airs this laughter publicly on TVs all across the world, except for within his own nation.
Further lack of action in Brightville has caused the miners to strike. Until this is settled, the mines will be considered useless.
The United States of America has pooled Resources from its allies to rebuild its Naval Base and again activate the Firestorm Barriers.
Furthermore, Mr. Peterson appealed to the WTO for help. They were willing to help, but after the devastating effects of the Experimental Bomb, and the newfound anarchy in Bostonia, the Board has moved to steer clear of the controversy.
Valhalla has fought off both Bostonia and the Golden Country and has launched an ICBM at Ireland, and Ireland has purchased Drop Pods with which to attack Valhalla. However, citizens in Ireland are extremely unhappy with this maneuver, especially after the recent events in Bostonia.
In The Valley of Zombies, 15 Resources have been spent toward research on human teleportation. However, continuing descent on the project has increased the required total once again. 35 more Resources will be needed. Mr. Drake may continue paying over time as he is doing, or he may accept Mr. Maximum's offer, or create a new solution of his own.

I never intended for the experimental bomb to be able to do that. It killing The PMB was more of a story event, but having it be able to kill leaders in an instant doesn’t seem right. Johnny put a lot of thought into his character – more thought than most people put into theirs – and now his character is dead. I would have had the experimental bomb cause a small crater on the map, but even if it struck the capital, the leaders wouldn’t have died. A lot of you got bombed without warning and I could have killed you off then, as you were likely in your capital when it got destroyed, but that’s not how the game should work.

I agree. The only reason Boston's still there, really, is because Superpan didn't actually roll high enough to conquer it. He rolled a 1. Even with the EB decreasing johnny's roll to 0, that STILL wasn't enough to conquer Boston. So then I had this entire dilemma like "What am I supposed to do with Boston?" So I figured I'd just leave it, declare O'Sullivan dead, and see what happens. Apparently he pulled a Pharaoh. Works for me.

HERE IS THE MAP! (http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/562/rtwvii2035.png)
John O'Sullivan is, in fact, alive and well. When the Experimental Bomb hit, Boston was surprisingly the one piece of land not obliterated, allowing a few people to survive. And, while it was initially believed that Mr. O'Sullivan was one of the casualties, it has since been revealed that these were merely rumors. As such, he has retaken control of Bostonia, but not the same as always. Now, Bostonia is a harshly run dictatorship, where expression is denied. While Bostonia's Happiness has suffered as a result of this, the fear it has invoked has allowed for an additional +1 per round RES.
Luckily for the United States, however, the invasion of Boston was a success. But unfortunately, Boston had become nothing but a figurehead on O'Sullivan's map - the true capital now lies in South America.
Otherwise, the map is mostly stagnant, with but a few shifts in the overall map - small victories in a larger scheme. And yet, the idea of a stagnant map perhaps does not bode well for the US, as this stagnance occurred even whilst Bostonia was hit again....
Coming from an unknown source, a strike with the power of an Ion Cannon has lashed out against Bostonia. Luckily, the strike didn't hit anything of importance, and RES were unharmed, but Bostonia's military suffered as a result. No one can be certain just where the blast came from, but people wonder if this unidentified Cannon will strike again.
MINOR EVENTS
In Brightville.... I think that JAG and Superdude have lost their internet access.... They said that might happen.... I'm holding off the negative effects - Superdude, if you still have the internet, please say something, or else I guess the Northern Republic and Brightville will be taken into NPC control.
In Valhalla, Ireland has begun to fall back from Greenland. The invasion of Ireland has unfortunately failed for the time, but forces are ready to try again. The citizens of Ireland are not at all pleased by these events.
In The Valley of Zombies, research has unveiled what scientists believe to be the secret of human teleportation! Experiments have succeeded, and scientists are ready to begin work on building the device whenever Mr. Drake is ready. For 50 RES, Mr. Drake may buy:
TELEPORTATION DEVICES - you may teleport humans anywhere on earth. Claim any region, invade anywhere, as long as it isn't too close to a capital, etc. On top of this, all effects of the Prototype Teleportation Devices will be doubled. However, the technology is still new, and there is a 15% chance each turn (after the first) that the Teleportation Devices will glitch and be rendered unuseable, reverting back to the Prototype Teleportation Devices.
Holy Arabia has purchased an Ion Cannon from Bostonia. However, upon delivery, Pharaoh has learned that the inner workings of the Cannon have been removed, and it is beyond repair.
Akbar of Iran has broken away from the Russian Federation, picking a vast amount of support. His followers believe him to be the true messenger of God, and as such this new country has been named, Allah's Haven. Akbar claims to be a peaceful man, wishing only for the good of his people. He does not demand any new followers, but welcomes all who wish to join.

I know it's a bit late to comment on this, but the Enclave shouldn't have been able to completely surround my capital due to my survival bonus. I SHOULD have at least a little bit more land around it.
I will check to see what resources we have and see what would would be a useful course of military action.

Since I can't get them this round, is it possible for me to spend extra resources on them to make sure they don't glitch when I get them? And does the glitch last for just that round, or will I have to buy complete teleportation devices again?

Alright, sounds good. We'll be firing our Ion Cannon at the US this year. Decimate their resources. That means next year, they won't be able to keep up that damn barrier around the capital, and the entire nation'll fall like a house of cards.
Then I'm putting my eyes back on you, Princess. Ireland can rest easy; their troubles'll be over soon.

It was a momentous occasion in Holy Arabia. Millions of citizens lined the streets of Jerusalem where Pharaoh would be speaking. Those who could not make it to Jerusalem watched the event on television. From rolling green hills of Israel, to the vast deserts of Saudi Arabia, and the sandy shores of Northern Egypt. Even outside the borders of Holy Arabia, the event was broadcasted in Allah's Haven, The Golden Country, Valhalla, the Russian Federation and the United States of America.
The crowd was ablaze with excitement, for no one knew exactly what was to come. They just knew it would be big.
All whispers and conversations immediately came to an end when Pharaoh walked up to the podium, wearing the most glamorous robe anyone had ever seen. His two most beautiful wives escorted him. Upon recognizing their wonderful leader, the crowd went wild, cheering and screaming.
Hello to Holy Arabia! PHARAOH SPEAKING so be quiet now.
Pharaoh had never been more giddy than he was this morning when he received the most fantastic news.
Pharaoh will not keep you waiting and wondering any longer - but Pharaoh hopes you have brought your children to this event because they will not want to miss it!
Ladies and gentlemen, HUGH BLISS!
Then, Dick Cheney, holding a large rifle, and several other men carried Hugh Bliss onto the stage. Hugh Bliss was chained to a chair, and appeared to have been shot in the leg.
The crowd booed and threw everything they could at the sad old French man. Shoes, tomatoes, clothes, babies, knives, etcetera.
TODAY, we will be celebrating the execution of Hugh Bliss. In a few minutes, you will witness such an act. We shall celebrate the death of the one who oppressed our good Arab people of Holy Arabia! This will be forever remembered as "YAY! Hugh Bliss is DEAD Day"!
The crowd cheered louder than they ever had before.
We will be practicing several torture techniques on the evil Hugh before his death... such as... STABBING WITH SHARP KNIFE!
**crowd cheers**
SHOOTING EVIL HUGH SEVERAL TIMES WITH POWERFUL GUN!
**crowd cheers**

Needless to say, all of these things were done to Hugh Bliss. He did, in fact, die. It was a slow and painful death, just as Pharaoh had hoped. The more he moaned and cried, the happier the crowd became.

First question: No. The glitches are because the technology is still new.

HERE IS THE MAP! (http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/3699/rtwvii2036.png)
Bostonia has launched its Ion Cannon at the United States. Though the Firestorm Barriers have held up this year, they are now destroyed.
However, Bostonia was hit by another Ion Cannon-like strike, source still unknown. As such, the Ontario War has reached an end, with Valhalla on top. Though Valhalla still struggles in Ireland, it would seem to be only a matter of time. Furthermore, the Beast Coast's new borrowed land has given them headway into Bostonian territory, including parts of Florida where the zombies were being held. Rehabiliation may continue where it left off.
Martin Wellington has unfortunately passed away. In his will, he's given his land and RES to the United States, which is particularly helpful after the last ion blast. Mr. Peterson may move his capital to the Northern Republic's if he wishes.
The strikes in Brightville have reached a bloody climax, and the WTO has stepped in, seizing control of Brightville and overthrowing Mr. Bright. (In other words, I needed something to do with his land and he left no instructions.)
World War IV wages on, but the mysterious ion blasts in Bostonia may prove to be an important twist....
MINOR EVENTS
The Space Race between The Beast Coast and The 5th Country has begun. The citizens of each nation are emphatic over victory, and a movement has begun, inspiring increasing nationality, and HAP has risen in both countries. The winner is expected to receive even further rewards.
The United States of America has attempted to buy a Public Works Project, but after activating his Firestorm Barriers, he was one RES short. World leaders laugh hysterically, but no negative consequences have been implemented.
Furthermore, Ricky Mauze has been sighted again in Bostonia, near the Florida border with The Beast Coast.

Ladies and gentleman of the Fifth Country...
One year ago, we began investigating the worlds after us. This was a success. Today, I'd like to announce the official beginning of our space exploration program. Presenting... Operation: Fifth Universe!
Operation: Fifth Universe is a space exploration program currently lasting for the next ten years. Each year, at least six resources will go into this program. With a plan ahead of us, we will be able to prepare for the future while working in the present. In addition to this, our Fifth Universe program will create jobs for our nation, bringing citizens into the workforce.
With that, however, we will need more resources. So this is what I will be doing. Effective immediately, I am instituting a conscription policy, converting twenty five happiness points into resources. Twenty of these will be used as an emergency finance plan and stay in our stockpiles. The remaining five resources will be used for employee training and to promote programs concerning Operation: Fifth Universe in our schools. (3 for schools, 2 for training.)
Finally, I am spending eight resources this year for the space program.
Thank you for your time.

I'm really not in the mood for any of this. When my beloved cat vanished, I went to the shelter in order to try to fill the void and rescue a cat in the process, but the kitten I got just died. She died right in my hands, desperately trying to get a few more meows out - but not having the strength to do so - before losing her fight. I'm not happy right now. :crying:

Gamemaster said so. Sullivan died, so I stopped playing him; gamemaster said he came back, so I started playing him again. Ask Mr. Spider.
But, seriously, I've had a blockade around your capital for half a decade now. You slipping out is as likely as a mouse escaping from that tomb in Indiana Jones.

I'm sorry for your loss. As someone whose dog recently passed away, I can sympathize.
That said, Spideyfan has changed quite a few mechanics of the game. As you said yourself, the bomb has changed from what you envisioned and Spideyfan has also RADICALLY revised the rules of capitulation. Simply put, it's his game now. He mods by his own rules, just like any other host. Does it make these games inconsistant? Yes, but it sure makes every one of them interesting and bears every host's unique stamp.

MESSAGE FOR PRESIDENT PETEERSON
Unfortunately Pharaoh cannot help you today. You see, Pharaoh has found great new soap opera on television. He is so busy watching it, he does not have time for any of this war nonesense.
Unless you mess with Pharaoh! Then he shall kill you with Mommy Bomb!
(By the way, Pharaoh will not be killing John's ghost any time soon; John has promised to pay Pharaoh back when he is done killing United States of America.)

Actually, it was quite funny - you see, even with the bonus you got from the Bomb, you STILL didn't roll high enough to get his capital! And then the land you HAD seized via Drop Pod was destroyed by that same bomb.... Hence my dilemmas of not quite knowing what to do - I wound up just sparing Boston. Didn't plan to do it that way, but I couldn't take out Johnny's country....
And, like I said, he can move his capital, but if Peterson can't get out of the current one, he'll be ruling from afar. I mean, Johnny got to move his capital when Huntsman gave him his land, or else Johnny would have died no questions asked.
Johnny, I have droip pods. I can go wherever I want.

Okay, but obviously I avoided those or I wouldn't have been able to escape, much like how you were able to escape the naval invasion of Boston. See, Patrick Hardy was able to use his spy expertise to sabotage your dynamie operations. Honestly, if you want to know how we were able to sneak back through your defenses with the help of the Beast Coast and locals who would want their democracy back, I'll tell you and then you can tell everyone how you were able to escape Boston when it was in anarchy and being attacked by naval forces of both the USA and Beast Coast.
Regardless, you are now unable to attack my capital wherever it is, though it will be in Canada.

HERE IS THE MAP! (http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/1011/rtwvii2037.png)
Bostonia spent 8 RES (yeah, you were right, Johnny - I forgot that Ireland had lent you RES) to investigate into the source of the attack. When his Naval Base was hit this, he had satellite focused in on it, observing - and they captured a shot of a bomb being dropped. An Ion Bomb. Scientists have speculated that to capture the force of an Ion Cannon with a bomb is far beyond the reach of any modern technology, including advanced technologies. Only a true genius could have pulled this off.
Unfortunately, the attack has still dealt much damage, and given way for the USA and Beast Coast to make great advances on Bostonian territory.
MINOR EVENTS
In the Beast Coast, great advances have been made in the Space Race, catching up to The 5th Country. The two countries are burning with rivalry.
In Ireland, Gen. Duberman's loan of 3 RES to Bostonia has angered the people dearly. They do not understand why their country continues to invest in a foreign power which they will believe will do nothing but create powerful enemies. Civil unrest has occurred, and as such, the war with Valhalla has reached a stagnant point - soldiers are uncertain who the enemy is.
In other news, Ricky Mauze has attacked the facilities containing the other "zombies". Those that hadn't been fully rehabilitated have now joined Mauze to conquer Florida, which has been named The Magical Kingdom.

With the assistance of yet another mysterious Ion Bomb (this time hitting Bostonia's SAM Station), the United States have pushed into Bostonia. They've even launched invasions in South America, digging into enemy territory. Nations all around the world are beginning to wonder where these attacks are coming from.
MINOR EVENTS
In Holy Arabia, some citizens have been observing Akbar Otohime's country, and yearning for his peaceful way of life. A small group of individuals are wondering if perhaps Akbar is Allah's true prophet, and HAP has decreased.
In Ireland, General Thomas Duberman has tried valiantly to cease the rebellion. He's spent the last of his RES to increase his military, but alas, they were no match for civil unrest, and Duberman's been overthrown. The new leader, Michael McMickelson, has transformed Ireland into a Socialist Democracy. The people of Ireland hope for a better tomorrow.
President McMickelson has severed connections with Bostonia, saying that Ireland has no reason to be involved with either of the major superpowers. Mr. O'Sullivan is left to either accept this or react in some form.
President McMickelson has appealed to Valhalla for a truce. If Queen Sabrina will leave Ireland, he will pull his men out of Greenland and return the captured land.

The United States has been hit with an Ion Bomb. It would seem that someone is unhappy with how the war's been going....
MINOR EVENTS
The rebuilding of MIT has improved education in The United States of America. As such, HAP and MOR have increased. However, the apparent wish to gain the Technological Advanced bonus has not been granted, as most of the old scientists working at MIT were killed by the Experimental Bomb.
The 5th Country has taken a massive lead in the Space Race, getting a grant from the USA and spending 30 RES on their Space Program. Victory is in their grasp.
In Valhalla and Ireland, the war has been stagnant as terms are negotiated. Neither set of citizens are all too happy with this, and so HAP has dropped slightly.
Small cults are arising within Holy Arabia which follow the teachings of Akbar Otohim. It is recommended that some action be taken, or citizens may move to Allah's Haven....
The Land of Lipschitz has purchased an MOAB. They fear being dragged into the western wars, and hope to use this as an incentive not to provoke them.
