I was thinking to myself yesterday, "not all the DCAU designs were the best, were they?" There have been plenty of other cartoons shows and DTVs since the end of JLU that showed Batman, Superman and the gang. Was there one design that you preferred?

Let's keep our answers to the cartoon shows and DTVs for this one. Feel free to reference shows that pre-date B:TAS if you'd like...but let's stay away from comic books and live action, just this round.

I'm not a huge fan of Nightwing's design from DCAU. I like that he's more slender and not bulky, but the costume is kind of plain, and of course, his hair is a bit weird. XD; I prefer the design from Under the Red Hood, although even he could have stood have a bit more free-flowing hair rather than such a short cut, haha. But I like how there were more blue details on the costume. The Batman's two Nightwing designs were cool, too. I might be in the minority here, but although I definitely prefer the modern Nightwing costume, I like the "disco-wing" outfit, too. :D

And I'm really loving Robin's design from Young Justice, although I liked both Dick and Tim's Robin designs from DCAU, as well.

My favorite animated Superman ever was Ruby-Spears' version. It reminds me a bit of Curt Swan's work, and as far as Supes goes you can't go wrong if you're reminiscent of Swan. A lot of the other side characters were great, too, but I didn't care much for Lois. Incidentally, the design they used for Wonder Woman for that one episode was also top-notch, even though she doesn't look as athletic as her DCAU counterpart (but I still prefer the overall look). Oh, and I just read that Lady Jaye's voice actor, Mary McDonald-Lewis, provided the voice of that episode's villain. So that means the episode was a showdown between Scarlett and Lady Jaye. :D

Modern DC animation has done Batman better than pre-BTAS. Normally I prefer higher-detailed models, but for some reason I'm partial to BTAS Batman, particularly from MOTP. I just don't like the oval, so maybe I'll say the MOTP Batman when he first puts on the cowl, because he didn't have an oval then. Batman's proportions started going down-hill with TNBA, and furthermore in JL/U. There might've been one particularly good Batman design in Gotham Knights, but there were some doozies in that, too, and overall the production wasn't memorable enough for me to pay attention.

Robin will always look ridiculous, but I'll take BTAS Grayson because he didn't look as campy as pre-BTAS, and I absolutely hate the idea of a 3' or 4' Robin running around fighting crime. It's like watching a crappy kid action flick, like 3 Ninjas.

Orange shirt Aquaman will always look a little silly, so I'll take JL/U.

Aww. I pretty much like any animated incarnation of Robin, haha. I thought scenes from The Batman where Bats could just like scoop up the younger Robin under his arm were really amusing. Different tastes, I guess! :)

There's some DCAU designs I liked, some I didn't. There's some Non-DCAU designs that I like, some I don't. I didn't really care for the original Batman design from the Batman:TAS episodes. However, I loved the Batman design from TNBA episodes. I've never been really all that crazy about Superman's design from Superman:TAS. Yet I loved Superman's design in the Justice League/JLU series.

The same goes for Non-DCAU designs. I'm not a huge fan of the Zena style Wonder Woman from JL:New Frontier, but I loved Wondy's design in the Wonder Woman movie. Didn't care for Batman's design in Batman:Gotham Knight. However, I loved Batman's design in Superman-Batman:Public Enemies. So at least with me, it's definitely not black and white.

Outside of the dcau, i really dig batmans design on TBATB. Probably wonder woman in her solo film. Superman really hasnt looked good to me since his dcau days, i will wait on all star to decide if they do him right.

Gls designs are cool in tbatb too. Dcau made them just too beefcake for me. Hoping timm adjusts that in the new series. The Flash was great in new frontier, it just looked so realistic.

I liked Superman's Ruby-Spears design as well.

I liked pretty much all of the Batman TAS-1 designs, but I wasn't a big fan of the TNBA designs.

I preferred the Crisis on 2 Earths designs to the JL/JLU designs. CO2E split the difference nicely between the stylized and the detailed (I think Superman's DCAU designs both from his solo series & Justice League/JLU would have looked better if they'd slimmed down his upper body mass, which would have made him more proportionally balanced).

Batman: Gotham Knight's best designs were from segments 2 (Crossfire) and 6 (Deadshot). Segment 6 was the only one where Batman/Bruce Wayne actually looked like he's supposed to, with segment 2's design coming in second place.

I actually don't mind the ultra-buffed up designs for Public Enemies. I thought Superman's movements actually looked more powerful when he launched into his fight scenes.

Judging by the All-Star Superman trailer the design work for that looks pretty good so far.
