Woohoo baseball is back and Im looking foward to a great season. I think my yankees will be able to win there 27th world series this year with great pitching, an improved bullpen, and better hitting. I hope to go to games in Seattle, Boston, Baltimore aslong as seeing the Hudson Valley renegades my local minor league team and other minor league such as New Haven, New Brittian, Norwhich, Trenton and Pawtucket.

Hehehe, sorry for my baseball rant im just very excited, GO YANKEES!

YAY!

I have been waiting for baseball season since November. Even though now I won't be able to see many of the games. Stupid Cablevision....

I'm looking forward to all the fights that'll break out at my lunch table with the three Mets fans and the three Yankees fans. It'll be great

Let's go, Yankees!

Ah... great to see baseball, my favorite sport, back again :) Being a Red Sox fan, I already concede the division to the Yankees, but certainly see the BoSox being able to win the Wild Card. Maybe if this time the umps don't call balls that drop outs, we can actually beat the Yankees in the playoffs.

Fianally, the long winter is over! Baseball is back! The Mets are my team, and they did a lot over the winter to improve themselves. I know for sure that they'll suck less than they did last year, and they have a decent chance of winning it all.

Here are my predictions for the year:

AL East: Yankees
AL Central: Twins
AL West: Mariners
WildCard: Red Sox

NL East: Mets
NL Central: Cardinals
NL West: Giants
WildCard: Cubs

ALCS: Yankees vs. Mariners
NLCS: Mets vs. Giants
World Series: Mets vs. Mariners
Champs: The Mets!

But if that doesn't happen, I'd like to see a Red Sox vs. Cubs World Series. Or maybe Twins vs. Expos.

Yankees fans! My archnemesises. That's alright though, we'll see you in Subway Series II and this time we'll be bringing the championship back to Queens!

GO METS!!!

To Brian Cruz, right on! Although a Red Sox v Cubs series would be interesting. I don't know how, but somehow they would both find a way to lose. :)

If there was ever a Red Sox vs Cubs series, the world would have to come to an end because neither team can be allowed to win it all!

My father thinks baseball season starts at the start of preseason! How dumb is that? Those games don't count.

At least my mother knows better.

And to think, out of the two of them, my father follows it more!

Sorry for the personal post, I just had to get that out.

Man, Pedro got wacked today. Oh well, even though we lost it was nice to see all the new players and the guys coming back from injuries like Varitek and Nomar doing good offensively. I suspect we'll go the same route as last year; lose the first game then win something like 6 out of 7 against weak division opponents.

Atleast the Yanks lost today too :D

Hey now! They can't be as bad as they were last year (I hope!) plus they were playing without their best player - Giles the machine was out with a hammy or something, hopefully he'll be back by tommorrow.

Twins will win the Central this year. Usually I'm not excited for baseball because I hate rich owners buying championships. But since the small market Twins have a great chance of being a powerhouse.

Although I hate the Red Sox, it's impossible not to have huge respect for Pedro. I was at the game in 1999 when Pedro threw a one-hitter against the Yankees and struck out 17. I'm still mad at Chili Davis for ruining the best chance I'll ever have to see a no hitter. But looking at his spring training and opening day starts, I think Pedro's reign of invincibility is over. He may get healthy and pitch a few more good games, but the Pedro that awed me and quieted Yankee Stadium that day 3 years ago is probably gone for good.

I got lucky i saw Doc Gooden no hitter because my friends could not attend the game. Then 2 years later I saw Wells perfect game, I was lucky twice. I had an oppourtunity to go to Cones perfect game because the same people who gave me the tickets to Goodens game couldnt go but my dad put down the tickets.

Although I hate the Red Sox, it's impossible not to have huge respect for Pedro.

I respect his pitching. I don't respect his babyish attitude. One instance:

Pedro threw inside to Indians catcher Einar Diaz. Diaz promptly stroked a double. This pissed Pedro off, and the next at bat, Diaz got drilled in the shoulder with a 97 MPH fastball. That is not "old school". That is not "baseball". That is just bullying. When Jaret Wright hit Damon Buford in the helmet with a CURVE, he was suspended. But when Pedro CLEARLY throws at players heads, and then runs and hides in the dugout when it causes a bench clearing brawl, I lost all my respect for him.

I also hate him because his stupid broken arm MIRACULOUSLY healed in 1999 and he helped the Red Sox come back and knock the Tribe out of the playoffs.

And on The Pirates:

In 1999, I predicted a World Series contender by 2003. Looks like it might be a little longer. But don't count them out. Guys like Aramis Ramirez, and Chad Hermanson can surprise. And their pitching isn't THAT bad. The pen is shaping up.

I haven't read all the posts, so I don't know if this has been discussed, but what are all of your predictions for the playoffs and playoffs? I am like this, which is honestly off the top of my head:

Arizona
St. Louis
Arizona
Giants

Mariners
White Sox
Yankees
Athletics

In the World Series, I am predicting the Yankees over the Cardinals, which hurts me incredibly, because I am a lifelong Dodger fan(yes, they do exist:D)

How long till a little longer is now? when there is a cold day in avery hot place? I have never had a chance to see either the pirates win a world series and the way things are going i won't get to.

They were 62-100, got a brand new stadium, ( even though they haven't had a winning season in 10 years.) a bigger payroll, and still can't win.

I hope I'm wrong, but i don't see it.

No Giles can't carry the team - but I would not expect to see him traded because it would be a nightmare for the team. That would virtually send a statement to all of the fans that they have no desire to ever win and that they are willing to sacrifice their best player. Whie he can't carry the team you forget about the amount of potential in Craig Wilson, Armando Rios, Adrian Brown and the growing superstar potential of Aramis Rameriez. They should also get a boost in May when Benson finally comes back :D

Give Littlefield a chance to prove himself - in a little over one off season he signed a second baseman that has a little power and actually understands how to field a baseball, he traded an aging pitcher for two younger pitchers with high potentials and a pitcher with similair stats as Ritchie, he traded Williams for a talented pitcher and than got Williams back at a cheaper price than if they had kept him and tried to resign him. Perhaps his best move - saying good bye to bench sitters like Derek Bell and Pat Meares, they won't be missed or their high contracts.

Plus at the time of my writing this the Pirates are above .500 (.667) at their first game for the first time since 1999 and they're tied for first place, all with out Giles! If by some miracle the Pirates turned out to be this years Cinderella team I think I would be the happiest man alive!

Let's go Bucs!

The Yanks and the Braves? Interesting.

Home opener today and the Yankees won! :D :D *Does a happy dance* I was at the mall today and tried to find a TV that had the game in one of the restaurants. My friend, who is a Mets fan, was not too thrilled with my search. After I found one, she kept herself occupied with a movie she had bought while I watched a couple of pitches in the fifth inning. With Cablevision, that'll probably be the most I watch of a game.

There were several groups of investors that wanted to purchase a MLB team and move it to North Carolina. Possibilities were the Twins, Expos, and Marlins. Of course with MLB contracting in 2003, it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon.

I find the whole Cablevision-YES network thing ironic. The Mets games are available everyday for their fans (including myself). Tune into FSN and there it is.

Meanwhile, the Yankees, the team that makes more money, is more popular (outside of NYC), and (I hate to say it) is more likely to make the playoffs is only seen once or twice a week on CBS, if their Cablevision fans are lucky. They were playoff contenders last year

I don't know if we're ever getting the YES network. I just got TVLand and MTV2, and they usually only add two channels every two months...so you guys might have to wait awhile. On the other hand, they could be making room for YES somewhere. I lost MetroLearning and Plex for the above mentioned channels. I really don't know what they are going to do.

Anyway...Go Mets.
