Bleach alright now I am confused

Well hear i am now official hooked pretty much on bleach and now for the
first time I have to ask the one other question so what the heck is going on
the last I heard heard ichigo was still in wako mundo just defeating green
jowl but Ruka was on the verge of death now they are back and ruka
is alive and well .

now i am confused am i the only one lost hear ruka was almost dead
just what did I miss
