Now that Boondocks is over and done with, I now have another reason to tune back in to AS on Sunday nights.

Whoa. 21's stepped up.

And the Moppets have metamorphosed.

How is that signal showing? There isn't a cloud in the sky.

Oh man, finally some new Venture Bros. I was waiting all year for a new episode.

King Gorilla, I was just thinking about what happened to him the other day.

I didn't know the Monarch was a lifter.

Oh, every show and their spin-offs have done a Fantastic Voyage spoof.

What's the big deal? Monarch butterflies are supposed to fly, aren't they?

'Sup Brock.

Don't be a Brock-blocker, Hatred.

If you love it so much then why don't you divorce Dr. Mrs. The Monarch and marry it?

The scene after the credits was hysterical. "You've got to be kidding me."

Ha. Hatred signed the consent form to an MRI without knowing about the arm-reattachment.

Next week: The boys go to college! Hank joins the army! Phantom Limb comes back!

At Dragon*Con Publick and Hammer said we'd finally see Underbeit again.

The episode was filled with trademark Venture Bros. humor/parody and all that, but I gotta say that was a pretty average episode. A lot of the middle part of the episode, while it had aspects that would play out during the episode's climax, felt very fillerish. The most enjoyable part for me was the final minutes (I seem to be saying this a lot for the series) when the henchmen went on strike and attacked the compound.

Still, it's nice to have The Venture Bros. back on AS with new episodes.

Hank and Dean in his body in the sub scared me more than I really want to admit but overall I really liked this episode.

This is one they heavily promoted in the ads and the season trailer, perhaps even more so then "Blood Of The Father, Heart Of Steel". Truthfully that probably killed a lot of the jokes in it for me due to the fact that I saw a lot coming (like 24's appearence in the bar of The Monarch using his glider to drag an out of it Venture into the sky). Then again I have to give credit for the ad for neglecting to mention the main issues or plot points of this episode were minature sub shrinking and midlife crisis. I have to watch this again to see if they explain how the cloue revealing a cloned version of the boys shrinking down into Doc's blood stream was properly explained (as I have with some other plot points in other episodes) but that defintley flowed quite well. I'm also glad that they adressed that they can't keep mind wipping the boys about what happened to Brock and with S.P.HiI.N.X so we should be seeing more of Brock's adventures this season. Also nice use of the Shrink gun (I still want to know when that was fixed) having it provide Fantastic Voyage esque plots and then grow Doc to giant size near the end. There was also some pretty well done jokes throughout: Hank saying the machine gun ran out of "food bullets", the Pete and Billy signal, the two enjoying House and betting on what Doc had, getting the boys to believe someone dressed up as them and ran a ship into their father's body, and the end with the prostate.

I kind of wish we had more in the beignning from the Monarch plot (espeically sine it's been over 2 seasons since we've seen King Gorilla and he kind of got brusehd off. I mean in the VB verse a lot of characters you never think would come back end up coming back but still was hoping for more from him based on the easer image of this ep) but I like the idea of him trying to solve a midlife crisis by getting a glider and like a lot of things obsessing into madness over it. (Singing with it is one thing but going to bed with it? Well the Monarch does have weird sexual desires I guess). I also liked 21 wanting to get an overahaul on the unifroms and then the ploy to get Venture out by pretending to go on Strike. Best jokes here would be the complaint about wing spans, Monarch pointing out you don't argue with Henchmen, 24 mentioning OJ, Monarch pointing out he remembers Pete White and calling it a small world (something kind of obvious from the VB verse) and then the Monarch being dragged down by giant Doc. Not the most standout eps but the season premieres usually aren't. It's the latter eps where some of the true genius shines even if this was definitley the usual Venture Greatness we've come to expect.

Doc Venture has the skeletons of his two sons in him... *snickers*...

Loved 21 standing up for the henchmen's rights and then Dr. Girlfriend losing all her clout when Monarch rides in on that Butter Glider. He got majorly obsessive with that thing. Equally as great was 21 & Girlfriend's plan to stop his obsession.

Another funny bit was Brock and Hatred butting heads over who should go in. Liked how Brock talked Hatred out of it.

A mildly entertaining filler episode that built up to something that never came. I think the most memorable part was the discussion between Brock and Hatred. I know, I'm alone, but I like Hatred. He pours his heart and soul into being a good replacement for Brock (and...not being a pedophile anymore) and this episode shows again how serious he takes his job.
But the Monarch's song was one of the lowest points of the whole series. I hate this jokey-song-in-a-cartoon-cliche. It got old around Season 4 of The Simpsons and I was really hoping that at least The Venture Bros wouldn't use it, but well, after 3 1/2 Seasons they just couldn't resist, I guess.

21# and Sgt. Hatred stole the show in this episode.

21# at the beginning of the episode showed how good a leader he is. He also used the moppets as the expendables in the mission. Later, he backed up his men for new equipment. Then goes on strikes.

When 21# of the rest of the henchmen took off their shades it was so awesome.

21#, "...No guild. No guild rules."

Sgt. Hatred, "Ahhh... They've got rogue."

Scene ends with Helper with his energy cannon pointed at the henchmen.

The next scene with 21# is him pointing Helpers own ripped of energy cannon at Helper's head, forcing the robot to open the doors.

21# just went up another notch on the badass chart. A few more and he might actually be equal to Broke.

Also, Sgt Hate "Pulp Fiction", "I'M SPEEDBALLING HERE!!..." Scene had be cracking up with laughter, to the point of tears. And that music was so perfect for the scene.

And special points to Hank with the machine gun at the beginning of the episode.

All in all, a great episode.

A mildly entertaining filler episode

It really drives me nuts when people use the word "filler."

It really drives me nuts when people use the word "filler."That's all you came into this talkback to say?

I know you were quoting someone else, but I also used the term filler to describe the episode, so I'll explain why I also thought it was mostly a filler episode: they didn't have enough actual material to sustain an entire episode. It started off great with the chase and with Doc ending up in the hospital, but after he actually got inside the hospital, it felt like they just danced around the issue of 21 trying to get to Doc for most of the show. For me, they did this by giving The Monarch unnecessary screen time with his stupid B (C?) plot that went absolutely nowhere and wasn't even funny to begin with. By the time the A plot actually picked up and went somewhere, the episode was ending. This is why I believe the episode was fillerish.

That's not to say two or more plots going on at the same time can't make for an entertaining episode, because The Venture Bros. has done it plenty times before, and much more successfully.

He's right. This is not a filler episode. An episode that develops its characters cannot be considered filler simply because it's not tied to a bigger story.

I saw almost no character development. And he's not right.

See? I can be vague with my posts too while pretending my opinion is absolute fact.

I'm glad 24 reminded 21 about his quest to find 24's killer. It's like 21 forgot about his list of suspects After the Venture Brothers and Brock Samson, he still has The OSI and The Moppets on the list. Personally, I think the Moppets did it, and would like to see 21 at least question them.

The X-3 is a submarine? Who knew? Not sure why the Venture Compound needs a submarine since there aren't any bodies of water near by. Speaking of which, where did that SPHINX sub come from when it surfaced? Unless the compound has underground waterways or something.

Poor HELPeR. How a bunch of henchman armed with only dart guns got the best of a tall and heavily armed robot would have been something to see.

From the episode where 24 died, wasn't it shown that Mrs. The Monarch simply left the control to blow up HELPER alone and the button not actually being pushed by anyone, not even just a visible hand?

If that's the case from what I can remember, the remote could have just fallen off the floor and landed button-first, at least that's how I imagine it.

It would be interesting to see or hear something about what did happen to that remote, like a callback in future episodes. I can't imagine the Find-My-Killer plot going on for any longer, and 21 determined it was "him" was killed 24 so he has no reason to continue.
