First, regarding the relationship between the Outlanders and Scar:

Scar was not Kovu's biological father (in Nuka's words "Scar wasn't even his father...he just took him in" but did that mean that Nuka and Vitani were his biological children? Is it unknown who Kovu's real father is?

and...

I heard there was a book about the events that happened after Lion king I, where Simba and Nala had a firstborn son named Kopa who died, and that explains Simba's overprotectiveness with Kiara. So did Zira kill Kopa? Or was it another cause of death?

But anyway, this is definitely my favorite Disney sequel, but some of these questions have been in the back of my mind for years.

I believe Nuka and Vitani were Scar's real children...Nuka mentions that Kovu shouldn't be the heir because Scar just took him in. Not sure the answer on the others.

From what I understand there was a book where Simba had a son. He did not die in the books. That was just a theory that the fans came up with to explain why he only had Kiara in the movie.

Interesting... I guess then Kiara was made for the movie to resemble that "Romeo and Juliet" quality.

That was probably one important reason why Simba had Kiara in the movie. I also thought that they wanted to give Simba Kiara for the sequel so that he would have to deal with a daughter instead of a son. There would be a bit more conflict with a child of the opposite gender, or at least that's what I thought. I don't really remember seeing Simba having a son in a book, but I haven't read Lion King books in ages. Simba's overprotective nature was more likely due to seeing his father die and worried that he would lose his daughter.

I'm not sure if Nuka and Vitani were really Scar's children, but I haven't seen the sequel in ages. Though, I do remember Nuka saying that Scar just took Kovu in, even though I think many fans thought that he was still Scar's son due to how similar they look.

I would dispute that. Kovu looks like he could be Scar's clone, and it's almost blatantly obvious that Zira and Scar were mates. In fact Kovu was originally meant to be Scar's son, before someone at the studio noticed the incestuous undertones and ordered a quick rewrite.

But as discussed in this thread (http://www.toonzone.net/forums/showthread.php?t=272927), that kinda thing is pretty common in real lion prides. And you can see some of it in the first movie as well. After all, who did you think Nala's father was?

I'd guess Mufasa. It would be really interesting if it was Scar, though. That would make Scar Kiara's grandfather and Kovu Kiara's uncle. Of course it doesn't mean anything in the animal kingdom, but it's fun making the relations in your head.
