Whoa! Those are two very nicely done sketches Mr. Delaney! :)
And you were right about drawing something that the fans of these characters never have seen before, and you do a nicely job of doing it!
I can't wait for the next sketch, because you've done an outstanding job of representing the characers so far. I especially like Ivy and Harley looking for a place to hide, and that look on their faces, it's so PERFECT. The Calvin and Hobbes sketch also looks good, just because I never knew you could draw in so many different styles! Hmm, how do you do it John?
The 2 sketches came in unexpectedly, coming in so early, not that I don't mind the sketches coming in early though. :D
;) God is goooooooooooooooooooood! :D

Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn are the FUGITIVES!
Any chance we'll see a cartoon Tommy Lee Jones? hehe

Some very unexpected and pleasant surprises this week. It's great to see Harley and Ivy in a sketch without their costumes, but the true gem of the two has to be Calvin and Hobbes. I'm glad you gave us the kind of sketch we could never see anywhere else. Calvin Kirk and Mr. Hobbes! Pure genius. Hobbes with big pointy ears is reason enough to love this pic.

Very nice Mr. Delaney!
Maybe we should start have ties more often! ;)

May I color the Harley/Ivy one?
John Delaney

Thanks so much everyone!
I had a blast drawing these ones. It was one time I was really happy it was a tie, because I wanted to draw both of these ideas so bad.
Cheers

And I already started coloring the Calvin/Hobbes one! That is my favorite sketch yet!
Don't worry, it will turn out better than that Superman one I colored. I didn't even know the color of Superman's underwear was red! ;)

I really like the face on Ivy. I really like the theme for the picture as well. I can't find a thing wrong with the picture. It's my favorite by far. It blows even the Megatron picture away. I will have to color this. I am just going to do it sometime this week when I have time. I don't want to rush doing this one. Just beautiful.
It is kind of ironic that Harley is in the ripped up daisy dukes and half shirt. I was just working on a painting for someone where Ivy has on the same outfit. It's based on a picture from Harley Quinn 18 or was it 17? I forget. At first look the longer suit would be better for Quinn since her costume is a full body suit. Then again I guess they didn't want to leave too much of Ivy's deadly flesh exposed.

I've always been uncomfortable refering to Supe's red briefs as underwear. What does everybody think is a name that gives dignity to this particular piece of the superhero uniform.
Personally, I like "action togs"! :D

Excellent as always. The Harley & Ivy sketch is very nicely done, I especially love the "running from the law" angle. But for some strange reason I keep on expecting Solomon Grundy to pop-up in the background. :D
But the real gem is the Calvin & Hobbes sketch, very true to the original strips. And the look on Hobbes face with the Vulcan ears is priceless. :)
Awesome work John, simply awesome.

Can you add yellow/gold colored stripes to the sleeves (and the Trek Emblems)? I went to high school with someone who could never stress enough that they had these stripes on the cuffs of the sleeves hehe
otherwise--- it's SUPERB!

Sweet! Star Trek Calvin and Hobbes, how is awesome is that? I love Hobbes' ears, that rocks. The Harley and Ivy one is pretty cool too. I could see them in that situation, bet some guys wouldn't mind seeing that ;)

Great job on the coloring! The light blue denim top and dark blue pants is just how I imagined it as well.

We have like three of those 'Lifetime' channels for women and every other 'made-for-tv-movie' is about some woman that's been wrongfully imprisoned and they always have em in blue with a denim colored shirt. lol
...not that our ladies Ivy And Quinn are wrongfully imprisoned--- lol... I wonder what they did to get in THIS jam!

Okay, here's a professional's view......
...Oops! I don't know any professionals. Guess you'll have to settle for mine.
Ummm, Calvin looks great, really caught that one! And that's a pretty hard style to imitate! Harley and Ivy are done perfectly, even out of costume. (A stroke of genius, there.) However, I must say that Ivy's shirt was just a little...well...kinda....Okay, never mind! :o
In all, great work!
BTW: be sure to tell me what you think about a "Caption This" competition for these sketches. You'll find the link below.

That Harley & Ivy pic just floored me, like I saw it and then I saw the floor because I had fallen down onto the floor. I wish there was a story to go with the action-packed shot. It's real awesome. And that Calvin & Hobbes is just nuts. You got a weird sense of humor, John. ;)
Thanks for continuing to share your many talents with us! :)

John -- I simply love the Harley & Ivy drawing. I can almost hear the police dogs barking and the sirens screaming as these two dangerous beauties sneak away through the swamp lands.
If anyone is interested in checking out my colorized version of this drawing go to the "Delaney Colorings!" thread.
Strangely enough -- my color scheme ended up being somewhat similiar to Delia's...as they say -- great minds think alike.

Lol I saw that! I was like "Wow!"
i guess it's like preprogrammed common knowledge of what women on the run from the law look like color-wise lol. Watch the Lifetime Channel at all? LOL
One thing I noticed--- In Harley Quinn-- the comics, Ivy is REALLY GREEN, shes like mega green going on there lol. Does she photosyntesize light, water n food? lol.

Calvin should have a yellow shirt. For The Original Series style uniforms yellow was command, not red. Red represented engineering and disposable crew. I feel like the alien-monster of the week is going to come out any minute and kill Calvin.

Calvin did always wear a red shirt though. So really it's combining Star Trek and the comic.

Now this sketch I like infinitely better than his Batman Beyond one. Its an interesting idea. It has a wonderful compostion (my eye swwps from the top left corner of the sketh, through the girls, and up to the top right). Dynamic lighting giving ideas of foregroung, middlegroud, and background.
Bravo, Johnny.

I just framed Hobbes with the red shirt at the last minute so the alien gobbled him up. Then I changed my shirt to a purple and black number, and my name to avoid being charged of the crime.
