Fish Hooks Premiere: Bea Stays In The Picture
Tonight @ 9:50ish PMNo, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. An animated program is actually going to premiere on The Disney Channel. While the "official" premiere isn't until the 24th, I figure most people will watch tonight's episode and then decide whether or not they wish to continue watching it. Please note that the time in question is subject to change. Initially, all of the guides had it coming on at 9:50 PM, but now guides are listing it at 10:00 PM. So if you want to watch, it's probably better to tune in sooner rather than later.
Bea Stays In The Picture: After taking a bad school photo, Bea asks Milo and Oscar to help her get it back.

Friday: 10pm (premiere), 11:15pm
Saturday: 6pm, 10:45pm
Sunday: 12:30pm, 10:20pm

Well, at least it’s something animated on the Disney Channel. That’s probably the best thing that I could say about that. I still like the art direction for things other than the characters, but Kyle Massey’s voice is as grating as ever and the comedy just wasn’t there. The only thing that made me chuckle was the dinosaur.

Just got finished watching it. It was alright...

Felt pretty average to me. Had some interesting bits, like the Dinosaur and the Yearbook Room. But everything else was kind of average.

Another Disney series made in Flash? What, Disney couldn't afford a decently animated production (though Phineas and Ferb have that Fairly Odd Parents jerky-type animation). It's bad enough that they kind of made a ripoff off of Sit Down, Shut Up and put it in a SpongeBob underwater world.
I have to watch 2-3 episodes until I dust my hands off on this show. I knew I wouldn't like much of the show judging from the 30 second promo, but I didn't think it be THIS bad.
While it's good to see Maxwell Atoms, C.H Greenblatt, and the Chowder crew working on something again, I'm not at all happy that they had to work on this barnacle.

I'll give it one thing; Clamantha made me smile.
I'm still mystified that Atoms, Greenblatt and the Foster's flash unit chose to work on this.

Is it just me, or did Clamantha's voice sound like she was one of the Teen Girl Squad (of homestar runner fame)?

I'll give it two or three more episodes before judging, cuz it could get better but right now so far I am not impressed  I do agree, Kyle's voice does sound bad here maybe I just need to get used to it. I didn't mind him in American Dragon Jake Long.

Glad it's a animated show at least it reminds me of ''What's the Buzz on Maggie'' I like it seems like their trying to steal some of the Spongebob audience. Ponyo must've been a success for them to make a whole that revovles around fish. I find Kyle's voice a little deep and scratchy for a cartoon no biggy though. 6.5/10

Well, the voice cast has great variety, I'll say that much.

"Bea Stays In the Picture" wasn't great, but it wasn't the worst thing that I've ever seen. Once again, I really, really wish that Fish Hooks' producers hadn't decided to go with high school as the shows' main setting. School on kids' shows has been done to death.
While it's good to see that C.H. Greenblatt has found some more work, honestly, this series seems like a step down from Chowder.

Like others have said, "Bea Stays in the Picture" was OK, not great. I don't know how much of Fish Hooks I'll see, since it doesn't seem like the sort of thing I'd go out of my to watch, but I've seen worse offerings.
I'll give Fish Hooks one thing, though: they at least have a girl character in the core group. As much as I'm looking forward to Cartoon Network's Regular Show (not that there's any correlation between RS and FH, but I'm just using it as an example), a part of me is burned that it appears to be another all-male show. It's not a big deal, but I prefer shows with at least 1 or 2 female leads.
Is it just me, or did Clamantha's voice sound like she was one of the Teen Girl Squad (of homestar runner fame)?
She sounded more like the Dock Hag (from Flapjack) to me.

I thought Fish Hooks wasn't too bad. It wasn't the greatest television show pilot of all time, but I still liked it. I think from here it could go either way. I'll keep watching to see how it turns out. Also, did anyone else get the vibe that this was like a more cartoony version of Disney Channel's Tweencoms?

Thank you for pinpointing exactly what was bugging me about this sneak preview. The characters are fish and they did some over-the-top stuff with the secret yearbook room booby traps, but other than that, "Bea Stays in the Picture" was just another episode of Hannah Montana or Suite Life or whatever other teencom you like. Same thin characters, same bad jokes, same over-heated reactions to trivial matters resulting in hi-LAR-ious hi-jinks. The only thing missing was the obnoxious pre-teen younger sibling mugging for the camera and the laugh track.
I'm not too impressed with Kick Buttowski, but at least it feels a little bit different from that formula. This episode of Fish Hooks doesn't.

Meh. It's an OK show but I most likely won't bother watching any more of it(like I was really expecting it to be any good:anime:) Like others have said, Fishhooks is just an animated version of Disney's banal tweencom garbage. C'mon Disney, you made Kim Possible a few years ago for pete's sake, how do you regress this much? I can picture the WB execs rolling on the floor laughing at how pathetic Disney TV animation has become. From what they have right now and what they have coming down the pike compared to what Disney has it looks like they're going to steamroll their ass again just like they did in the 90's. Heck, they're even making a mockery of THEIR OWN material with those absurdly annoying BLAM! segments.

So, I saw the sneak peek, and I admit, I chuckled a few times.
Okay, yeah, it's the same tired high school setting, but the characters are likable enough, and the plot was amusing. It's a kids' show with tween appeal, and it fits that very well. Nothing that specifically appealed to the 'kids at heart' demographic, but I wasn't bored at any point.
I'd definitely watch a few more episodes to see if this could appeal to me on a regular basis, but I saw nothing that was really a major turn-off.

I thought the episode was okay. The characters were entertaining enough for some comedy.

This isn't the best Disney cartoon of all, but it definitely isn't the worst either. I loved the art to this show, it is definitely unique compared to previous Disney cartoons. There were some funny moments. I loved the Yearbook Room. I do agree Kyle's voice is kind of degrading, but he is getting older, so what do you expect? I will watch a few more episodes before determining whether or not I will watch this show on a regular basis. In my opinion, this show does have potential. I wonder what the ratings will be like for this show.
It wasn't bad...it wasn't good...it was just...eh. I've seen worse shows though. The animation and acting was really good though, Massey's pulled off his role very well, and everyone else was great too.
I see a lot of potential in this show and I hope they tap into it. Guess we'll have to wait and see...

Am I seriously the ONLY one who liked this?
Yes, it has some glaring flaws, but it also has a freshness to its execution. The show's premise and characters aren't that original, but the animation, facial expressions, writing and voice acting show promise. It was entertaining, and it made me laugh, what more can you ask?

I saw this episode earlier this weekend and I thought that it was okay. The characters were generally likable, the artwork was kind of unique and the humor was decent. Even so, the whole thing just came off as an average show, but I think that the typical overreaction to picture day helped. Still, I recall how I wasn't too impressed with Phineas and Ferb when it first premiered, but now it's one of the few reasons I still watch Disney Channel. Maybe that could happen with Fish Hooks and I could see it getting better over time.

I honestly can't believe this show has Maxwell Atoms named tied to it. This is so different from anything he's worked on, up to this point.
I hated the preview, but I'll give it a few regular episodes before I pass final judgement. I'm cautiously optimistic that the show itself won't stink once it gets going, mainly becuase I like the crew involved (it's nice to see C.H. Greenblatt back to work so quickly).
However, at this point, I'm not going to hold my breath. The voice acting was brutal, so that'll definitely need to be improved upon (although, with a bunch of Disney tween stars doing the brunt of the legwork, that might be asking too much). I'd also like to see this differate from the rest of the junk that's on Disney now. I don't want Hannah Montana or Wizards of Waverly Place in animated form; that does NOTHING for me.

I chuckled a few times; show's got promise. I can definitely see Maxwell and C.H.'s handiwork in this. And this is probably just me, but the fish Kyle Massey was voicing looked and slightly reminded me of Chowder (post season 1 of course). I think its because how his cheeks are styled. lol :chowder:. I've gotta say though, two characters that I didn't like were Bea and Clamantha, but at least this show has quirks and isn't a bore-snore like Emperor's New School and other Disney toons were :ack:. Bea just... I'm trying to remember... was obsessing about nothing, and Clamantha's dialogue and voice bothered me, but those two characters are quirky and colorful so that's a good thing (I guess). I just hope that they get handled pretty well as the show progresses, instead of just becoming more grating to listen to (again... maybe that's just me). Last thing that bothered me... that paper cut out guy minding the store... that guy was freakin' fugly (it was just the art style's fault I suppose)... I bet the more I watch this show (once I get cable back) the more I'll get used to it.
Besides my complaints, I'm pretty optimistic for how future episodes will turn out.
