Are there any commercials that you can't stand?

I have two that will cause me to either turn the TV off or change the channel till I think it's over.

The first is this new cell phone commercial where the guy says "Can you hear me now?" over and over. I really can't stand anything that repeats itself over and over and over. It's highly annoying. I think it's the guy's voice that sets me over the edge.

The second is for a cd called "Story Tellers" this song about Billy Joe jumping off a bridge that drives me insane. It has to be her voice and choice of words.

EDIT: Why is I always have a typo or spelling error in a message title and can't edit it :(

That commercial where the guy walks outside his girlfriends apartment and screams... "HEY ! Want to get together later ? The doctor says it's not contageous !"

It's so freaking annoying because these girls at my school would come up to me and say.. "Hey Chris Want to get togethother later..etc. etc. and it's annoying as frack.

Another commercial I hate is those stoooopid commercial for Herbal Essance Shampoos.. You know where the women have "organsmic" experiences just because they washed their hair.. because they Had the "urge to herbal". It's annoying and stupid.

I don't know whose Idea that was, but if they thought it would make women want to buy Shampoo they must not of been very smart.. That's why I plan to go into advertisement in order to make sure crap like this doesn't happen, ever again... Atleast from the firm that I work at.

I agree about the "Can you hear me now?" guy. YES, I CAN HEAR YOU, YOU LUNATIC. IS THIS AS STIMULATING AS THE CONVERSATION IS GOING TO GET?

And you remember the commercial where they promised to get rid of annoying telemarketers? That was the most irritating, overplayed commercial ever. The irony was thicker than a juicy longhorn.

Also, there was this one commercial that wasn't really annoying, but something in it bothered me. Some lady was using Bounty to clean the inside of her fish tank while leaning her FINGERPRINT-LEAVING HAND on the glass. That's a good way to clean a fish tank if you're an idiot.

Carrot Top trying to save his career doing 1-800-call-att ads.

He was funny for about 10 minutes. Now he can't get heat even if the Rock was next to him. He should just go away.

(Best line, a female ref skates up to him and says "two minutes, bad acting)

BLACKHEART

I've never seen the one for the breast pill.

Another one, I can't think what it's for...

Two old people are skateing and they say "Is that Tom Foolery coming up?" "Yes it is. There's Tom now."

I think it's Ben Gay, but it not as close to annoying as "Can you hear me now?"

The stupid new commercial for Blockbuster with the dancing CGI animals. Absolutely horrible.

The commercials for Valtrex, the herpies medicine. Sorry, can't watch them. "Just another day, to be a slut today!" should be the song. Ugh. Sorry, babe, but I got other plans.

And there was one that aired locally in Kansas City that had this feel good music playing all thru it. It was for some hospital and it aired back in January thru Febuary and was on sometimes as much as two times during a commercial break (THAT IS ANNOYING!). Anyway, it had some kid in a class room (the only kid in the class room, btw) working on some project you cannot see. The teacher says, "Come on, kid, get the project up here" but only nicer, of course. So he takes it up to her when he gets it done and it is a valentine for her. The feel good music is swelling to some kind of height at this point. It is not just any heart he made, but an actual representation of what a realistic heart looks like. He points to the heart and says, "That is the left ventrical." Music swells at this point as the teacher beams a smile back at his smug little face. Then you see them walking down the hall way together as some voice over says, "At such and such hospital, our cardiologists spend a life time preparing to better serve you" or some line like that. Now, the commercial I want to see is (and do not read, kind of a gross off color joke coming. It is definately PG something) what the future gynecologist does for his project in school!

AOL commercials are annoying, that "if i had a million dollars" commercial is flippin' played out, the VoiceStream commercials with Jamie Lee Curtis, and the "can you hear me now?" ads - bleah!

I do like the ads with the Sprint guy - what the heck is his name? He's cute, lol! ^_^;;

In closing, I will say this:

Let's see... For me, it has to be...

- Those 1-800 Call-Att commercials (All of them)
- Truth (Um, I'd to break it to you "truth" guys, but tobacco is a LEGAL substance. If you truly want to make a difference, take action to make it ILLEGAL.)
- Diet Coke (Those ones that start out with "Do whatever's natural..." and feature stuff like "flirt", "smooch", etc.)
- Hyundai radio commercials (These spots play ad nauseum around here on both AM and FM stations. One features a basketball player and the other features a doctor. Both are asked to sign warrenties just in case anything goes wrong. Both ads end with the person saying "Do I look like a Hyundai?".
- "Highmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield radio and TV spots (Both spots are almost the same. They both feature people saying titles to doctors they need. Here is an example: "I need to see a cardiologist", "allergist", "radiologist", etc. What bugs me is they add some little kid saying something stupid, like paleotologist, meteorologist, or epgyptologist. The TV version is worse. The kid in the TV ad doesn't even say a name to a real post! The dumb kid says "oroemligologist". What in the blue hell is a "oroemligologist"?)
- Pittsburgh Children's Hospital (Basically, these ads feature little kids trying to be cute. Way to cute.)

One commercial for that I like to make fun of is the "Kidz Bop Kids Present Broadway Showtunes" commercial. This commercial begins with the kids singing "Hard Knock Life" from "Annie". The song in questionis also the sampled hookused in the Jay-Z hit by the same name. So, every time that comes on, I think this:

"All you Gs will be envious for this one. It's the Kidz Bop Kids Sing Gangsta Rap!"

I hate the two commercials for that new "women's television" (ie, cr@p) network Oxygen.

1.) The first one shows these girl babies in the maternity ward throwing off their pink knit caps ( a symbol of male oppression, no doubt ;) ) waving their tiny fists in the air as "I am woman, hear me roar" plays in the background. I'm sure those babies will be glad they stood up for women's rights when they catch cold and die! (sorry, very bitter over here)

2.) The second is this beauty pageant montage where the contestants whine about how beauty pageants and the like actually do "a disservice to all of humanity!" Yes, Illeyana Trump gets on my nerves too, but shut up! If you want to b!tch about equal rights for women, go to Afghanistan where women have acid thrown in their faces for not wearing the burqa in public. (very, VERY bitter over here!)

Yeah, that phone commercial with the "can you hear me now" bugs me a bit. Especially when my mom thought it was hilarious and kept bugging me with "can you hear me now?"....*shudders*. Anyhoo, the one commercial that really peeves me, and I have no idea why, is the Milk commerical with that little child eating peanut butter and then giving it to the dog. Something about watching that dog trying to lick all that peanut butter, which got boring and gross after a while, really bugged me a lot.

Gee, fun topic... Here is a long list:

- 1-800 Call Att commercials featuring Eva Savalot and Carrot Top
- This local commercial featruing this Kung Fu spoof. The annoyong thing about it was that the music that played automatically went up a few notches in volume.
- The Oxygen commercials about Women
- The Grand Theft Auto 3 commercial. Very overplayed.
- Hoveraround motor scooter commercial. It starts with these 2 ladies at the grand canyon yelling "Hoveraround"!
- Toonami Midnight Run commercial. It plays the same boring music every single time its updated. "Toonami's changing, but its always for the better" (except for the music)
- The old "Hey! Whatareyoudoing?" commercials. It was good for a couple of laughs, but it quickly got annoying.
- The Truth commercials. At first, they were okay when doing mild stuff like trying to go to a tobacco company and getting facts. But they slowly got gross, by doing stuff like dumping body bags in an empty field, and planting dog poop on a sidewalk with a sign on it. Not to mention the urinal one. Utter stupidity.
- The old commecials that interviewed teens on what they thought of smoking. They interviewed teens on buses and walking to school, very annoying. I call it the predecessor to the truth commercials.
- Any local commercial. My cable provider comes up with its own commercials and puts them in place of the TV channel's commecial. You can easily tell a commercial from the cable provider because its of a low quality and it is louder than the other commercials and shows. These are especially annoying if they overlap a show.
- The kids songs commercials that play on CN all the time. Who would play music sung by snot nosed children (besides the N'sync and Backstreet Boys fans :) )
- The Brittany Spears Pepsi commercial. I'm suprised no one has mentioned this yet.
- This old Burger King commercial that features these 3 waitresses singing about the menu. It starts in the 1970s and they make their way into the 90s. It was used to promote their new choice of either "Rings or Fries".
- Any "Got Chocolate Milk?" commercial. The annoyingest (sp?) one is when the little kid makes chocolate milk by putting milk and chocolate syrup in his mouth and gargling it. Totally gross.
- The "Whatssup!" commercials. I never got the point of its popularity...and I'm a dude.
- The new Burger King commercial featuring Shaq.
- The 7up commercials featuting Orlando Jones (the old spokesperson). The new guy is annoying too.
- Any promo for a new Disney sequel.

I can't think of anymore...

The "How to Dance Like N'Synch Video" ad. Some guy wants to teach you how to spaz dance in ultra slow motion. A favorite for Nick ad execs and no one else.

Oh, and Ovaltine. "I love ice skating! Hey, look, it's the Ovaltine man!" No one sells Ovaltine from a cart, and even if they did, no one would buy it, let alone mess their pants for the joy of Ovaltine. It's a sleep aid, fercryinoutloud.

I hate just about any commercial on TNN especially Star Trek, anything about "POP", anything saying "The NEW TNN", and "taking your calls". But there is one commercial in particular that gets me VERY angry.

Their commercials for The Godfather Uncut. What does techno dancing, big flashing lights, and women in trashy outfits have to do with this great movie?? And why are this doing this dance during the theme song to The Godfather?? And if that isn't enough they have a big screen playing the movie while a DJ is yelling at them??

Oh, words do not express my anger so I will just let out a yell. ARGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

Do the Truth.com kids have any idea how stupid they look?

A few years ago when TV trailers for the movie Rushmore were running that "Oh are they?" line totally turnrd me off to ever wanting to see that movie.

I hate any commercail that leads to people quoting it all the time. The "Wassup" spot is a prime example of this, because when Budwieser made fun of there own commercial with the "What are you doing?" spot, people started repeating that too.

Here's what I find annoying.

Got Milk
Kidz Bop
Geico Direct
1-800-Call ATT with Carrto Top
Comedy Central Christmas
The Power Of Cheese
Anything on Disney Channel
Brittany Spears Pepsi commercials
XFM radio with A certian convicted felon
Anything from The Ad Councle
The E! ad with Robert DeNiro
Any Toon Disney Ad with kids
The Energizer Bunny
Where's The Beef
Glad Plastic Bags
Hostess Cakes
10-10-220
Denny's

Plus so many others I would love to forget, but don't have the time to get into them. When I watch A show, I turn down the volume, or switch to the channel that plays music, and displays local events to spare me the agony so that I won't be pissed off the rest of the day. Besides, who wants their day ruined with A piece of crap?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...I HATE those Save the Children commercials. Really irritating. It's even worse in the ones where they play a track of children singing "Jesus Loves the Little Children." I can not tell you how grating that is to me. I can't make it through the entire commercial. Gotta change the station, or at least mute it and look away. Not to be mean, but I'm sorry, if I was going to send money to that organization, I'd want it to be spent on purchasing condoms for those kids' parents. It might sound cold, but I think that if you're so poor that you have to lap away at a puddle of your own urine (or anyone else's for that matter!) for nourishment, then you shouldn't have a kid, let alone twelve.
I DO sympathize with the poor starving tykes, though. I just don't wanna look at their oddly protruding stomachs while Roma Downey tries to guilt me into sending them just 30 cents a day, or whatever.
And to whoever mentioned that chocolate milk commercial with the kid gargling milk and chocolate syrup? I couldn't agree with you more. I wanna chop that little "illegitimate" (by the way, thank you, Guitar Slayer, for that handy euphemism) in the throat.

There's a commercial on the radio for the Subaru Outback. It has the narrator telling Outback drivers not to mock other drivers of other SUVs, like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and that Lexus SUV. Apparently, "they're having a really tough time" dealing with the fact that they know the Outback is superior but they still drive other cars. Urgh...I'm not going to drive the Outback just for that commercial.

This is both a TV and radio commercial. The new McDonald's one for chicken strips. I think that's what they're selling. The background music makes me scramble for the remote. It's a Spice Girls song. I don't remember the name, but it goes "I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want. So tell me what you want, what you really want." I really don't need to hear that song again...

I hate the commercial for the pregnancy test where this girl is jogging and suddenly stops and thinks, "I'm having trouble concentrating. Could I be pregnant?" Oh yes, that's the very first thing all women assume is the reason why they cant concentrate. There are dozens of reasons why people have a hard time concentrating. Pregnancy is quite low on the list of reasons. Maybe if you were throwing up all over one morning or you had a stomach ache for a few days, maybe you might consider it. But lack of concentration automatically equals pregnancy? Uh huh...

*Matthew Lesko. I want to smack this man with a copy of that massive book he's hawking. I don't know what irks me more, his voice or that cheap Riddler-looking suit he's prancing around in.

*A commercial on E! for a pill that will increase the size of the John Thomas. Good looks and wealth are important, says this vapid, superficial adult film star, "but what women really want is a bigger man." Up to three full inches in a month, they promise. Thank you for a dose of inadequacy, lady. Though there are some small-hipped women I'm sure will concur with me that this claim is specious at best.

*Again, drug commercials that cause conditions worse than the disease. Like the one for anxiety--the side effects are pretty similar to a panic attack, so how do you know if it's working?

most commercials for CDs. (They are sometimes long, and do you really need to hear parts of the songs? They think it will make you but it. HA!)

Those annoying Cartoon Cartoon Fridays commercials that run during just about every commercial break on CN.

Darth Gonzo, you are so right about the Powerpuff Girl groovies. Well actually, I love the one by Shonen Knife (the one with the rock music and the kanji) to death and listen to it at the Digital Arsenal every single day. But I really hate the one with that puppet monster and the slow depressing music. That sucks and they overplay it to death (more so than Dragonball Z on Toonami).

I agree that Carrotop is annoying.

I also agree about the barbie commercials. They play on ALL children blocks and Nickelodeon. It really needs to stop. And how many different things can they make Barbie do? Every week it seems like Barbie can do a new trick or something...

OFF-TOPIC:
Does it seem like all the washed up or newbie actors run to 1-800 Collect or 1-800 Call Att when they need work? No seriously, Carrotop is washed up and we see him on 1-800 Collect Commercials. Anyone remember Ed O'Neill aka Al Bundy from Married With Children? As soon as the show ends, we see him on 1-800 Collect commercials. Arsenio Hall, we see him on more Collect commercials. Its really something isn't it?

I also agree about the barbie commercials. They play on ALL children blocks and Nickelodeon. It really needs to stop. And how many different things can they make Barbie do? Every week it seems like Barbie can do a new trick or something...

I really think Barbie started the whole dumb blonde jokes. I mean she gets a new job every week sometimes every 3 days.
:p
I didn't mean to offend blondes if I did I am sorry.

- anything featuring that g.d. Clariol Herbal Essences (why in God's name do they still make commercials?!)

- those Eggo ads (what a waste of CGI and money)

- those newer 7-UP ads; the new guy they got makes Orlando Jones (I only liked two of his ads) look like Jack Gilford; ask your folks

- any ad where NBC is pushing one of their half-[hearted] sitcoms to the tune of classical music pieces

- any ad for a sitcom where is looks like something serious, but turns to be anything but

- any ad where food is talking and/or moving around; these ads are meant to get us to buy the product, but (ironically) they make us wanna puke

- that Levi's ad featuring "Rubber Legs" (if you've seen it, I needn't elaborate)

- anything featuring Kids Bop

- that McDonald's ad where the parents are treating their 10 year old son like a baby

- any Apple Jacks commercial (do I really have to say why?)

I HATE those AOL Commercials and the those ads for those ads for Firestarter that they played on ASA for the first few weeks. I also hate that Snickers ad where the guy is talking to an UN-attractive female cop astride a horse and says "Hey Pretty lady"

I have a new one. This is radio commercial that illustrates the folly of being ignorant of the fine arts. A panicked woman calls 9-1-1 distraught over seeing her daughter "moving her legs and arms" wildly to music on the radio, and the operator informs her that it's okay, calm down, the girl is only dancing. What was this woman, Baptist or something? (j/k; rimshot) I've heard this g.d. thing ten or twelve times today alone, and it's annoying me.

Also, Big Wolf on Campus promos irk me. Merton this, Merton that..."Merton the expectant mother?" Somebody get this dog spayed or neutered, please. "You call that pizazz? You're hardly giving me pep!" I'll give you something, you...[mutters inarticulate expletives; gestures obscenely]

I hate those Geico/Gecko commercials. That was funny for two whole seconds.

I also hate those new jeans commericals. You know, the one with the singing belly buttons? That was...icky. I hate the new one with all the women sharing one pair of jeans, and the camera keeps focusing on their underwear and rear ends as they wiggle out of the jeans...uck.

I really hate those "Girls Gone Wild" commercials they show on E! and Comedy Central late at night. I really, REALLY don't want to see drunken, skanky sorority girls pull up their tube tops every two seconds...

OK. So basically you all hate commercials that air more than once. Anything else? This thread is starting to get as repetitive as the "Can you hear me now?" guy. :wakko:

I sort of agree.
How come no one complains about Sugar Beats and Everyone complains about Kids Bop? They're both as annoying.

Well, I complained about TNN's commercials. The newest one being that one for POP Across America. Ewww.

There was one that aired at Christmas time for a store called Bentley's Luggage and Gifts. Every morning, I heard their LOUD theme song. Beats using an alarm clock.

And what about the Subway commercails? I hate the ones where they sing and tell about how other's lost weight. Like the "Henry, Clay Henry"

There is this local furniture store called "Bob's Discount Furniture" that most local channel play.

These commercials suck. Bob goes on the commercials and do all sorts of things to sell the commercial.

One time he had some washed up basketball player and he was playing a round of basketball. Bob went for a shot and when it showed that he missed, there was a quick edit that showed footage of a basketball circling around the hoop and going in. This was made even more hilarious because before the edit, we can see the ball hit the backboard with a loud noise and start to fall to the ground...and then the edit shows the ball circle around the rim and go in, without touching the backboard. OH MAN, what a loser.

Currently he is doing his commerials with some lady and they are singing rather poorly while laying in a bed. This commercial sucked to all hell. It was made worse when a lady walked across the background of the set like she didn't know they were taping. The lady really looked clueless. It was obviously a mistake because she had no purpose what so ever to be on the set. She sure wasn't there to make Bob sing any better.

I really wish all you guys could see these commercials so you can have a good laugh at them. Bob is such a loser...

Oh yea, the Subway commercials featuring Jared Fogel who magically lost 350lbs in one year eating nothing but Subway subs. That's really a laugh and a half right there. I really hate the song commercial.

"Hey meet Subway's Jared!
He got fat from burgers and fries
He wanted to be a smaller size..."

That song sucks.

Psychic hotline ads vex me to no end. The worst was Miss Cleo.

Then, of course, there's that mutant lovechild of Pippi Longstocking and the Joker, Carrot Top. Every time I see one of those 1-800-CALL-ATT ads, I wonder, "Why does this jackass have a career?"

That Denny's commercial with Emmanuel Lewis where the waitress is degrading him to being a little child. Denny's is cold.

I remeber the Bob's Discount Furniture comercial with "Betty" the talking couch. Those are really cheap commercials.
BTW
Who was that lady in the You Rock,I recline comercial?
