I really like the JLA comic. The latest one was really good, the best of the Golden Perfect storyline(Although what Hal Jordan was doing dressed as a GL I have no clue). But anyways, does anyone actually pick of the individual comics. I ask this because as of right now, you can get up to issue 54 of the current series in tpb, which I believe is cheaper. I really enjoy this series, however, do you suggest that I wait for the tpbs?

If your new to the book, i recomend the earlier issues. Ive been with the new JLA since issue 1, before that I hadnt had much JLA experience, now Im obsessed with its history. Read the trade paperbacks! Overall the whole series has kicked butt, Waid, writer of what I consider the best JLA story of all time (Kingdom Come- I know, not just a JLA story) did a great run on Tower of Babel. Anyone who is new to the book must read it.

Golden Perfect was GREAT! Hal Jordan was dressed as GL because most people think there is only one "True" Green Lantern...just like when they talked about Superman being viewed as a god by most after Our Worlds at War, and Batman being viewed as an urban myth or legend...It was during that whole sequence in part 3 when the League showed up to help Diana.

I personally like collecting the monthlys for a few reasons...Mainly the cover art, plus I can't wait that long for the TPB. TPB's are cool with no ads and stuff...It's up to you because every issue of the current JLA run has been TPD so far!!!

Did you read the Tower of Babel storyline??

I wait for the tpbs. As much as I like it, I prefer to read the story arcs all in one sitting, rather than in monthly installments. Pick whichever you feel most comfortable with. And although it shouldn't be a big issue in your decision, do keep in mind that without people reading the individual issues, there wouldn't be any tpbs.

But did he serve any purpose while he was there? I think he is really the Spectre now or something. Did he use his powers there or something?

And where was Kyle Rayner?

That whole storyline confused the hell outta me. As much as I hate to do it, I'm dropping this book in favor of INCREDIBLE HULK.

It was an illusion...Hal was really Kyle. It's the whole "Magic" thing. Batman had a great line to Superman saying how now he should know why he hates magic so much. Bizarre stuff, but interesting if you have a wild imagination!!! Love the JLA, can't wait for Arthur to return and to see what happens with Ollie, which I'm sure are subjects to be touched upon in the upcoming months...

Wait, then where was Kyle? I know he was there at the beginning, on the 2nd or so page, talking about Bugs Bunny, but then where was he the rest of the time?

I Know what your talking about Sugar Daddy, and that's exactly why I did'nt but this issue. I just Looked too weird and crazy. Im Glad it's over. It's like the JLA has to go through Phases. I Only bought one of the weird issues. #61 where they faught abra Kadabra.

Kyle just seems to vanish, it looked like to much to get into, so I skipped it.

The way I took it was that it was Kyle all along and not Hal, that was the illusion....it made people see Hal Jordan because many feel he is the only Green Lantern, so they "saw" Hal's costume...I think the hair color tipped it off...Hal has (or had) brown hair and the guy in the book had black...Kyle's color.

Could be wrong, but that's the way I read it and with all the magic going on and illusions it makes the most sense to me.

JLA is one of the best super hero team book

The Authority
JSA
JLA
The Ultimates
Ultimate XMEN
in that order. I have to admit JLA was better when it was first rebooted by morrison. But its still good.

TOWE OF BABEL ROCKED
and did the Introduction of Zuriel

I think that is what happened too. And Kyle was confused with people calling him Hal, although why he said yes when Flash called him Hal I dont know.

Good point. I just heard there is going to be a big summer bi-weekly JLA event coming - and it has something to do with Obsidian, who is Jade's (from Green Lantern) brother. Also could include the return of Aquaman, as one of the battles takes place in the ocean.

I was checking out DCComics.com, and looked at the preview for JLA#67, here (http://dccomics.com/directcurrents/comics/Jun_26/jla_67.html), and it said this
This issue sets many story elements in motion, paving the way for this summer’s bi-weekly JLA mega-event "The Obsidian Age." Keep watching the skies…and the seas! Looks like Aquaman will be coming back soon. But what is this event? When does it start? So many questions......

I just read the same description as the one stated above, I read it on the comics continum website. I'm really curious as to how the return of Aquaman story goes ( if this is in fact what happens )...hope it isn't lame!

I'm suprised Toon Zone didn't report it...I usually get my info here first!

I think currently this is the only information out there...I'm sure news will start leaking soon, can't wait for the July solicitations!!!

Obsidian is Jade's brother, so you know Green Lantern will be involved big time...also probably the JSA with Alan Scott...Should be awesome :)

Sugar Daddy

You never know which Green Lantern, because supposedly there will be a new Green Lantern in like issue 151. Also, I thought Alan Scott was long gone.

Nah, Alan Scott's still around. He appears in JSA regularly as Sentinel. Currently there's a subplot around his power levels being out of wack lately.

SPOILER ALERT (for Golden Perfect & Kyle being Hal)

You've been warned...

Okay, summary for Golden Perject: WW broke her lasso of truth while fighting semi-villain Rama Khan because she tried to warp the truth according to her own feelings...or some crap like that. Anyhow as a result absolute truth unravels to be replaced by perceived truths...so suddenly the world turns flat, Earth becomes the center of the universe, etc. Essentially things people believed to be true for a long time come true in reality. All happen real briefly depending on how long people believed such. Towards the end of the story the JLA are effected because they're legends and thus people believe certain things about them regardless of the actual truth. So Plastic Man is reduced to pure comedy relief, Superman becomes a god, Batman becomes some sorta shadow creature, and Kyle Raynor becomes Hal Jordan (because that's who people still remember as GL. Plus I think it's sort of an inside joke. As in a lot of old fans still believe Hal Jordan to be the TRUE GL). So he wasn't really Hal or Kyle at the moment but a manifestation of what people believe Green Lantern is. Anyhow WW sees the error of her way, fixes things, and truth goes back to normal, so the Leaguers revert back to their regular selves. The end.

Hope that helped. (And for the record, no I didn't like this story)

More detail on a couple things.....
In the issue, Batman says most people believe that Batman is a myth, so that is what he becomes. Also, supposedly even in the comic world, people believe Hal is the real GL, if you look at what Martian Manhunter said.

I'm a JLA freak and a big fan of the comic. Yes, Babel was great, but if you're looking for another TPB, you can't go wrong with Rock of Ages!

lots of opinions on Golden Perfect (I liked it - cool idea, and two cameos by Batman rogues!) but no one has mentioned the art. I love the art team! I miss Brian Hitch, but I can catch him in the Ultimates, another good team book (so far - it's early!)

I just reread it, but I forget who the second villain was, besides the Riddler. Who was it? Thanks

Ya think the new GL will be John Stewart?

Love the new JLA Team...and I love the art also. Rock of Ages was GREAT...White Martians, darn near every major storyline in the current JLA has been a real great read.

Anyone read the Titans?
