NETWORK TO TELEVISE TNA’S WRESTLING’S ACTION-PACKED FIGHT CARD ORIGINALLY SLATED FOR PAY-PER-VIEW

Spike TV will telecast a special Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling “iMPACT!” event on Thursday, August 12 at 9:00pm ET/PT featuring the biggest names in TNA, including TNA World Heavyweight Champion Rob Van Dam, Abyss, Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles, “The Charismatic Enigma” Jeff Hardy and many more.

The special “TNA Thursday Night iMPACT!” features a lineup of matches originally slated for the “Hard Justice” pay-per-view event on August 8. The card was moved to Spike TV after TNA President Dixie Carter and “The Extreme Original” Tommy Dreamer announced a one-night-only “HardCORE Justice” pay-per-view event to celebrate the superstars who created hardcore wrestling.

This will allow TNA fans a pay-per-view type experience on “TNA iMPACT!”. If you’ve never seen a TNA pay-per-view event before, this is your chance to see what you’ve been missing,” TNA President Dixie Carter said.

The special August 12 edition of “TNA iMPACT” will be two hours of nonstop wrestling, featuring only matches originally slated for pay-per-view. Pop culture icon and TNA Wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan will oversee the special “iMPACT!,” which includes two world title matches as well as a possible fifth and final installment of a best-of-five-match series between the top tag-teams in wrestling, Beer Money and Motor City Machine Guns.

Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling President Dixie Carter and TNA Managing Partner Hulk Hogan today announced the series premiere of “TNA ReACTION,” that will air on Thursday nights beginning August 12 at 11:00 pm (ET/PT) on Spike TV.

“TNA ReACTION” will immediately follow TNA’s flagship program “TNA iMPACT!,” which airs from 9-11PM (ET/PT) every Thursday to create a three-hour bloc, “TNA Thursdays,” on Spike TV.

“TNA ReACTION” is a one hour docu-style series that will bring the characters, story, and drama of TNA Wrestling’s long running action format “iMPACT!” to life in an entirely new and unique way.

Created and executive produced by Bischoff Hervey Entertainment Television (BHE TV) as part of their partnership with TNA Entertainment announced last fall, TNA ReACTION combines production values and format elements that are truly groundbreaking to the professional wrestling/sports entertainment genre, which has been a leader in cable television for decades.

“My partner Jason Hervey and I have been working with some cutting-edge cameras including the new Canon 7D D-SLR that shoots amazing video in a couple of our reality projects”, said Eric Bischoff of BHE TV”.

“We experimented with integrating some of these elements into both ‘iMPACT’ and ‘ReACTION.’ TNA’s director of video production Kevin Sullivan worked closely with us to make this work, and the results are very cool,” said Bischoff.

“We are extremely excited that Eric and Jason have been able to bring their experience in reality and docu-drama formats to TNA in a way that would give our shows a different feel. We are very happy with the results”, TNA President, Dixie Carter.

TNA’s in-house production team partnered with BHE TV to integrate the new production technique into “iMPACT!” and “ReACTION.”

“We have definitely hit the refresh button with some of these changes and I think fans will appreciate the pacing, look, and depth they are going to see on ‘iMPACT!’ and on ‘ReACTION,’” said TNA director of video production Kevin Sullivan.

The tag title match was Match of the Year quality, bar none. Better than RVD-Abyss. Better than Angle-Styles. Props to both the Motor City Machine Guns & Beer Money for a spectacular performance.

Not at all surprised that they're stalling further on unmasking Tara as Madison Rayne's helper. The bigger question is how she ended up with Rayne, who "retired" her earlier this year? However, I am very happy that the little crybaby (Rayne) finally got what she deserved. Angelina Love's comments on Reaction tell a story all by itself. I noted this before. Rayne got a big head after winning the title, and it ultimately got the better of her in the end.

The beatdown of EV2.0 by Fortune and friends was just brutal. Period. In the first minute of Reaction, Mike Tenay suggested that Fortune might actually be the "they" that Abyss has been talking about, but then they go to opening seg of Reaction and it becomes, again, a question of who or what "they" are. Angle & Anderson both think Abyss is so delusional it's all in his mind. Right now, I'm not so sure, and the doubt in both Anderson & Angle's minds will make them targets of Fortune.

Man, time has not been good to Bill Alfonso, has it?

Huckster's speech, predictably, took too long. Funny how Dreamer's the only one of the ECW alum that actually decided to wear a suit. Raven's back as a face already, and was late to the party, for what little good that did him.

Did TNA really raise the bar? Only in their own minds. In order to get everyone else's attention, they need to capitalize on what Styles & Kaz said on Reaction, which is what a lot of us have been saying for a while. They've been cast to the side so often, with everyone else coming in from elsewhere, that they may have been left with no choice, and Hardcore Justice was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Now, it's a question of which feud is better. Fortune vs. EV2.0? Or is it still WWE Raw vs. Nexus? You decide, pilgrims.

This show wasn't all that great. AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle was good but we have seen better from them in the past.

Angelina Love vs Madison Rayne I thought was ok nothing great.

D'Angelo Dinero vs Matt Morgan vs Mr. Anderson I was disappointed with, I was expecting a great match with these three but he get a short match with a cheap finish.

Shannon Moore vs Jeff Hardy. I'm not going to lie as soon as Moore came out as the big mystery opponent I turned off the tv to play the Dreamcast I got the yesterday.

Motor City Machine Guns vs Beer Money was the match of the night, maybe match of the year. Up next for the Motor City Machine Guns is Magnus and Wolfe since they won the tourney on Xplosion this past wednesday, so I'm excited to see where this can go.

RVD vs Abyss I wasn't all into but it had some cool spots. When Hogan had a big announcement I thought it was that he has a twitter account now :p
but was just to say thanks to EV 2.0  I was hoping this was the end of those guys and that we can move on but it looks like Fortune, Matt Morgan, Abyss(?), and Douglas Williams have other plans. Also with all that "blood" spilled from RVD he would have been dead at the spot not still alive. Janice just needs to go Abyss will never be able to use her.

Overall, TNA did what they always do when they are hyping something "big"—over promise and under-deliver. Angle-Styles, Morgan-Anderson-Pope and Jeff-Shannon the mystery opponent were all big letdowns. I'm not declaring any of these matches to be horrible, but the longest one was perhaps slightly over 10 minutes from entrances to final bell. You can have a 10 minute match on PPV, but with all the talk about at least the match quality on a TNA PPV, I really wanted to see that from top to bottom.

I certainly expected more out of Angle-Styles (tattoo wasn't as bad on screen as it was in JB's Twitter pictures) and speaking as someone who likes Shannon Moore, it was such a tremendous letdown to have him accept the challenge to "the wrestling world." Makes me wonder if someone fell through.

I don't know if I should have expected more out of the match to determine the "TNA Knockout Ladies Women's Champion" so I have given that one a pass as far as it meeting a promised quality.

The Motor City Machine Guns vs. Beer Money though was fantastic and worthy of the hype given to the show. If that's possible, it was more thrilling and more exciting than the four that preceded it. I made a special effort the whole show to pay attention and this one has me on the edge of my seat and I can't recall ever really cheering during TNA, but I did during this match. I am so thrilled Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley are finally on top. I was concerned about the outcome when this was started, but now the pay-off was totally worth it.

RVD-Abyss was also a solid, exciting match though for at least for me personally, it's can't compare to the Tag Title match. It's not the first time it's been done, but a ladder match to get a weapon is a little less interesting than one to get a title. I guess it could have been "Janice on a Pole" so I'll take this and be happy with it. :p

I do have to say though, that I found the match plenty interesting and sure as heck didn't need to see Dixie Carter's reactions to all the big moves of the match.

Hulk Hogan giving respect to a bunch of guys he'd probably never heard of when they were in their prime (save for probably Raven and Tony Marinara) was a lame segment that took away from time that could have gone to the other matches on the card. When Hogan declared RVD the leader of TNA I just pictured A.J. Styles burying his head in his hands backstage.

I have never dislike Tommy Dreamer, but now he represents the bringing in of an entire group of old guys to supplant TNA's younger roster, so I was frankly offended by him giving MMG and Beer Money credit for 'carrying on their legacy' or whatever (also offensive: chants for Dixie Carter).

My preference to not have this segment somewhat counters any enjoyment over Fortune (Doug Williams is in this now?!) destroying the EV 2.0 crew. I did like Flair yelling at Dixie that this was her fault.

I found the amount of blood in the entire final segment disgusting though. If a guy gets brutalized with a chair and is bleeding, that is cool with me, but I don't need Storm cutting at people with the shards of his beer bottle. That is graphic regardless of your target audience.

The implication that Abyss assaulted RVD that 2x4 full of nails was revolting. While I do not watch gory horror movies, I don't consider myself "faint of heart" and I averted my eyes.

As a recap/iMPACT! post-show, I honestly though ReACTION was pretty good (much better than when it was pre-show to a Monday iMPACT!). I don't really want to have three hours of TNA (and four hours of wrestling total) every Thursday, but I did like having it on. In the future, I may just fold thoughts on from that into my show comments, but I guess I kept it separate this time.

Not that Mr. Anderson used several words including "ridiculous" and "unnecessary" to describe what Abyss did to RVD. I must admit, I'll be disappointed with "they" are figments of Abyss' imagination.

The stuff about EV 2.0 and Fortune was interesting. The main highlights were Tommy basically calling the filler ECW memories from TNA stars disingenuous and Dixie promising to "make things right" which says to me that at least the ECW guys we saw on Thursday are not leaving at least just yet.

I liked Kaz and A.J. talking about Dixie bringing people in and how they feel about it. I have a feeling the Impact Zone will be divided on this. I know if I lived down there I wouldn't be cheering for Tommy Dreamer and his merry band of broken down misfits.

By far the best part of the third hour was the seemingly weekly "Impact Player" segment which featured the Machine Guns this week. To have Sabin & Shelley themselves recap their evolution was great to see.

Not at all surprised that they're stalling further on unmasking Tara as Madison Rayne's helper. The bigger question is how she ended up with Rayne, who "retired" her earlier this year?I think the answer is obvious, Rayne told Tara she would allow her to return to TNA if she protected her and the Title. I'll grant that her ability to do that is questionable, but I'm sure that's the reason.

It does play into what Madison has become. A spoiled, power-mad brat.
