I don't know about anyone else, but I think Brendon of Home Movies should stop chasing after Cynthia. From the moment she was introduced to the show, I disliked her. She gave off a negative impression from the beginning. I honestly don't know what Brendon sees in her anyway. From the beginning, she ignored Brendon, forgot his name, and had no interest in being around him. Brendon should forget Cynthia and focus more on his movies. I think Brendon is too good for Cynthia and she wouldn't know a great guy if she ran into one.
I suppose one reason why Brendon has a thing for Cynthia is because she doesn't treat him very nice. I guess some people are attracted to other people who either ignore them or treat them badly.
Does anyone think that Brendon and Melissa would make a good couple?

I don't think Brendon should go for Melissa. They would turn into Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, and show biz relationships never last. Maybe Cynthia isn't the one for him. Perhaps a new character could be introduced?

Well, I guess what you gotta remember is the fact that they're both just kids. Young crushes (and even adult relationships) rarely make much sense. I don't think Brenden even knows why he likes her so much, so I'd don't think it's possible to really reason it out (though your explanation could be right, I suppose).

Nah. Being a "couple" at eight years old is akward enough. Having that same relationship between good friends (and work associates) would just be too weird. I'm sure they could get lots of good stories/comedy out of it, but I'd much rather have them stay "just friends."
And, on a final note, I never really liked Cynthia, but I never really disliked her, either. She just seems to be sort of...there. I don't know, maybe they'll develop her character more in the future (or maybe not). But so far, I'm pretty much indifferent to her.

Hmm. Chasing Cynthia. Someone should write a comic book.

I never liked Cynthia. She just has an overall snooty atmosphere to her. She barely noticed Brendan the first time he tried to talk to her, and has refused to forgive him for the recreation club incident. Brendan himself isn't sure why he likes her, but I think he should stop.
Brendan and Melissa....I dunno. There's never been any indication that they're anything besides good friends. I think that you shouldn't start a relationship until puberty has kicked into full gear, and hormones have arrived.
Of course, it's just a cartoon. :p
Cynthia is evil. EVIL! But nonetheless I think Brendon should continue to chase her for the show's sake.

yes, it seems like she was meant for plot development, but this is getting old. She doesn't like brendan, so end of story.

I've been meaning to bring up the situation with Lonnie. She was kind of like Cynthia, in the sense that they both are not very interested in Brendon. Lonnie didn't treat Brendon that great either, and she's a terrible actress.
I'm not sure if Brendon and Melissa should be a couple. I only threw that out to see what everyone else though of the situation. In my opinion, I think Melissa would make a better girlfriend for Brendon then Cynthia or Lonnie.
If you could a girlfriend for Brendon, whether it's Melissa, Cynthia, or Lonnie, which one would you pick?

Brendon should be a swingin' bachlor. He's eight for cripes sake.
I would rather see an another episode about Brendon striking out than an episode about Brendon being a boyfriend. Brendon fits the part of trying to get a girlfriend; I always thought of him as the loser type. I can't really see him with a girl, and if he was I don't think it would be funny. One of my favorite home movies scenes was at the end of the episode when Brendon was talking about the pinecone and he shows up at Mellisa's house and gets rejected. Then it cuts to him alone in the sandbox. It's funny because he's a loser, like it's funny to see space ghost get made fun of by zorak.

Very well said Jake. What makes this show work are Brenden's failures, not his successes. His films aren't blockbusters, and girls aren't chasing him. That doesn't make him less of a character, it makes him more realistic. Brenden's a loser, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I think Cynthia should stay. I love seeing Brendon trying to learn the rules of dating, socializing, etc. with someone he's attracted to.
Brendon (not sure what to say) says "awesome!" to Cynthia.
Cynthia: Did you just say "awesome"?
Brendon: NO! Of course not!

Is it just me. or...does Cynthia have a jones for Dwayne anyway? I thought of this since I saw Brendon in the editing room doing Dwayne's documentary and noticed that while Dwayne was giving his acceptance speech, Cynthia was making doe-eyes at him. It would be possible, and SO much like real life. Boy likes girl, girl dislikes boy but likes this other boy who is too wrapped up in his guitar. If you ask me, that would make for one heckuva love-triangle. Not that I'm endorsing it, because frankly, I wouldn't care if Cynthia went the way of the Josie.
Now if she started liking Shannon, then that would prove two things:
1: She's REALLY not worth Brendon's time
2: Girls like bad boys (i.e. jerks)
As for whether Brendon should hook-up with Mellissa? Nah. Too close to home.
Yeah, I agree, Cynthia digs Dwayne.
I don't want to do away with Cynthia though, because she (popular girl) adds balance to the show (full of losers).
