Yeah, but they had their moments. Pseche and Uryu moments as a comedy team was awesome, and I love the bond Nel has developped with Ichigo. Of all the little girl and two guys trio on the series, the others are way more annoying. You know about the Mod Soul trio already, you will see more of what I mean in the next filler.

Ok, at first, I thought this would be another 'fun' episode with no real filling, but then, this Koya dog shows up, and everything gets heavy real quick. Aside from all the homosexual overtones, the backstory with Koya and Madarao aside as well, the actual fight and story was pretty decent. And a cliffhanger that has actual implications of being serious? Definitely tuning in next week.

Why is Kekkaishi getting so much more posts than FMA?
Because it's actually a good anime that takes a while to get good. I'm currently on episode 30 on Hulu and the theme of death is in it is pretty high later on, pretty crazy changes compared to the beginning of 1-13.
Of course I do warn you guys there is a silly episode every once in a while. It's a shame they don't air double new episodes, it makes the pacing way better.

I was happily surprised with how good this episode was. At first, it didn't look like much with Yoshimori being called short and Madarao refusing to call him his master, but then it became more interesting. I kept on thinking that the first ayakashi was a girl instead of a guy and all three of them were pretty weak. I definitely wasn't expecting a villain like Koya showing up. His voice kind of reminded me of a less gruff Dr. Claw for some reason, but it worked.
I liked getting the backstory on their past lives. I've been wondering how these dog spirits became helpers to these families. The moment it showed Madarao and Koya killing and eating a deer, I thought that was reason enough for Cartoon Network not to air the series. I felt sad that they both died due to humans disturbing their environment, but at least they were able to see each other again after their death. Madarao falling in love with a human definitely wasn't what I expected. I thought that Koya tried to kill that human or many others and Madarao refused. At first, I thought Madarao was talking about love from a dog, but then it felt more like he was talking about romantic love. So, the spirit of a dog fell in love with a human? Go figure.
I didn't think that there was romantic tension between Koya and Madarao. I thought it was just Koya's anger from losing their lives due to humans. Though, I can understand where people got that idea that they did love each other romantic when Koya said how beautiful his fur was. For some reason, when both Koya and Madarao became huge demon dogs, I thought it was like a Pokemon battle. I was glad that Tokine didn't really do much. She's been pretty annoying and unlikable to me for the bulk of the series so far. Hakubi doesn't seem much better since he didn't seem to care that Yoshimori and Madarao were in danger.
The fight was pretty good. They were slow, especially with their mouth movements, but it was still interesting to see. They actually had a really good cliffhanger with both Koya and Madarao bleeding and Yoshimori calling out to Madarao.
Overall, it was a great episode. It had some interesting development, some nice backstory and a pretty good fight that ended with a cliffhanger. It was definitely one of the best episodes so far. I keep on noticing that the episodes from this series that I seem to enjoy the most don't really focus much on either Yoshimori or Tokine, but on other characters. It probably helps that I still don't find Yoshimori that interesting, though he's at least likable, and Tokine still seems unlikable and uninteresting to me. Even though there isn't a new Brotherhood episode on next week, I definitely plan on watching the next new episode of this series next week.
