I missed 'bout the first 20 minutes of it!

Maraamu was getting ready to raid Rotu's camp when I finally remembered it was on. So, would someone mind filling me in?

Well, basically John was getting paranoid because Gabe was being too friendly with the former Mataamu tribe members, Gabe was spouting some b.s. about how it's not about winning but about forming friendships, and Mataamu went and caught crabs (to eat :p ). Then they did some blindfolded totem-pole challenge, and Rotu were really sore losers.

Haha! The worm has turned! Take that Rotu! Take that Gabe! What a bunch of traitors - and to think that Rotu started out as the "together" tribe. If it had been me raiding their camp, I would've kicked some stuff over, and smashed-up their tent just to be ornery.

First, a few words about Episode 4 (the one before this one):

This was one of the biggest turning points the game has ever had. The rearrangement of the tribes was good for the one Maraamu member who deserved to win (Gina) and bad for the other four who didn't (Sean, Rob, Vecepia, and Sarah), while giving all the Rotus full control of each tribe. And so, though still mourning for Hunter's demise, I was given a new sense of hope. Things could turn out all right in the end. After all, we're talking about an episode which started out with a helpless Gina at the mercy of a clueless Sarah and ended up with a helpless and clueless Sarah. Till her final minute, she never had one intelligent thought to contribute.

Sean, Rob, and Vecepia, who had just finished systematically rendering Maraamu into a complete idiot factory, were relocated to Rotu, the definitive tribe of hard workers. Seeing them try to fit in to their new work schedule was priceless. The flesh was willing, but their minds were weak (mostly due to Sean's lazy Harlem attitude). The only reason Rotu had won all the challenges so far was because they had conditioned themselves to be workaholics, which built endurance. Gradually, Sean and Rob ended up complaining (Sean's slave speech was ridiculous) and lying around by themselves, secretly talking crap about all the Rotus while their hosts brought them food and treated them much better than they deserved. And during the immunity challenge, the lazy pair got to do what they do best: sit out.

I think my favorite part of the episode was Gina giving Sarah the evil eye when the subject of Hunter came up. :D Adorable!

But anyway, about Episode 5 (this one):

Raiding the other tribe's camp was a really good reward. Maraamu finally broke the longest losing streak in the world. Rotu didn't have a good sense of humor about it, but it's their own fault for losing the challenge. I thought it was great that they even took the ROTU board. I know I would've written "SUCKS" under it and displayed it under the MARAAMU flag.

The distress signal immunity challenge was also fun to watch. They probably meant for the camp raid to lead up to this, giving one tribe the material advantage. The lazy ex-Maraamus were forced to represent Rotu after sitting out every recent challenge, which was highly entertaining. Maraamu fortified their new winning streak and then thanks to John the nurse, Rotu lost Gabe.

John the nurse did everything wrong:

1. He put himself in a leader role, thus becoming a target.
2. He drove one of his own away. You're not supposed to start doing that until the enemy threat is gone.
3. He tried to bring one of his enemies in. When it comes down to it, Gabe is more trustworthy than any one of the three ex-Maraamus.
4. He admitted he was confident at Tribal Council. You NEVER do that. Who does he think he is, Richard Hatch? You see, in the first Survivor, Rich never took his backpack to Tribal Council, and people resented the arrogance, but that was different because Rich knew what he was doing. He ruled HARD.

I did laugh when John told Jeff Probst that he was emerging as the tribe's leader and Sean's eyes burst out of his head. But I still want Sean to die die die for what he did to Hunter. If he's not gone by the next episode, I'm going to start mailing him voting slips with his name on them.
