man that was that powerful stuff even though it turned out to be a dream I believe it is TNBA's best episode

Over the Edge was by far one of my favorite TNBSA episodes, up there with Mad Love, Brave New Metropolis and Apokolips Now. It was so surreal to see the fall of the Bat-clan play out. You don't get to see elseworld stories animated very often, but I thought this one was very well done.

Of the 20 new-style BTAS episodes (TNBA episodes), OVER THE EDGE was definately the best. There were some other great ones, but that was the best - I would have loved to see it keep going for two episodes!

If only the talkshow sequence was cut out - make Scarecrow and Bane the only villains - and then it would have been flawless.

Over The Edge certainly was different. I think it was one of the best episodes because of how it surprised so many viewers. When I first saw it, my jaw just dropped, because I couldn't beleive what I was seeing. Was this a joke? They've got to be kidding! And I couldn't stop watching it, it just didn't make sense and there had to be a reason. And then of course, it's all a dream in the end. I didn't see that one coming, but it did explain everything nicely. It was one of the few eps that I know had me on the edge of my seat, glued to the screen. Those kinds of episodes are always awesome.

Yeah it was. When I first saw it, I was shocked and was like "Did I miss an episode?" I was thinking that maybe in a previous episode the Police had discovered Brucie's little secret; but no. The end was a great twist, but kinda disappointing too.

Over the Edge was a good episode, but it would have been more satisfying as a two-parter, at least in my opinion. I found the ending slightly disappointing... The whole "it was all a dream" ending seemed cheap to me at the time, especially when I was really expecting something big and dramatic. Also, this episode borrowed the whole dream sequence idea from the original B:TAS episode Perhance to Dream, so it loses points on the originality scale. Still, it was one of the better Gotham Knights episodes.

especially the part where batgirl's body smashes into her father's windshield and she died in her father's arms. very tragic.

Howdy all,

I think this episode is easily the best of the TNBA shows, IMO providing an even better "ending" to the Batman/Robin/Batgirl era than Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker did.

However, I think my favorite part of the entire episode is NOT the dream sequence, but

the ending with Barbara and Jim Gordon. The way Barbara starts trying to tell her father what she does, and how Jim lets on that he knows all about it and implicitly approves was quite touching.

It's easily the best Jim Gordon moment of the entire run.

I agree with Ace... the scene at the end with Barbara and her dad was a great moment. My favorite part is when Scarecrow starts laughing at what he did and Bruce hits him and sends him flying into the wall. That had to hurt.

I was fascinated by the episode too, but I thought the talkshow sequence was great.

It's one of my favorites. The animation is the best out of the 109 episodes. It just doesn't get any better, in that regard. I liked the story, too, though "Growing Pains" is my favorite from TNBA. The show was a lot more violent than the typical Bats episode.

Like everyone said earlier, this episode COMPLETELY caught me off guard. I watched every single Batman episode since B:TAS, and this one had to be one of my top 3 favorite Batman episodes, ever.

I just came back from a vacation, and I knew there weren't and new episodes when I was gone. But when I saw it, I thought I missed a whole batch of episodes. Like what Batwing53 said, I thought the police found out about Bruce's secret, and this was like Part 2 of the story. All throughout the episode, I was hooked. I wouldn't lift my eyes off of the TV. The ending was both surprising, and it made me feel so stupid at the same time. All throughout the episode I was wondering how there could be an explanation for this, and I never even thought that it was a dream. :)

While I was watching it I kept saying to myself that this couldn't really be happening. I thought it might have been a dream, but the story was just so good and believable that the dream idea didn't really stick with me. I kept thinking it was the last episode of the season and they were going out with a bang.
