Okay the second season was expected but a DCOM? Seriously? Suite Life has been going strong for almost six years now and it gets nothing.

DISNEY CHANNEL'S NEWEST HIT, "GOOD LUCK CHARLIE,"
IS PICKED-UP FOR SECOND SEASON,
PLUS A DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE

-- Geoff Rodkey Recruited to Write Movie Script –

Disney Channel has ordered up a second season of its newest out-of-the gate hit, "Good Luck Charlie" -- just three months after its premiere. Development has also begun on a holiday-themed "Good Luck Charlie" Disney Channel Original Movie. The movie, being written by Geoff Rodkey ("R.V.," "Daddy Day Care"), will star the talented series cast, Bridgit Mendler, Jason Dolley, Bradley Steven Perry, Mia Talerico, Leigh-Allyn Baker and Eric Allan Kramer. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment, and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide.

The comedy series is executive-produced by television veterans Dan Staley ("Cheers," "Love & Money"), Phil Baker and Drew Vaupen ("Suddenly Susan" and "What I Like About You"). Baker and Vaupen are also the series creators.

In 2Q10, "Good Luck Charlie" ranked as the No. 1 series on television among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, posting double-digit gains year to year among both demographics and defeating its time period competition by triple digits (Source: Nielsen Media Research, Most Current U.S. national ratings, 2Q10: 3/2910-6/27/10; premiere to date=4/4/10-6/27/10. Ranks based on 000s, then rating, unless otherwise noted. Series ranks based on trackage level data with minimum 3 telecasts).

In the series, the Duncans’ lives are turned topsy turvy with the arrival of a new baby sister, Charlotte (AKA Charlie). When parents Bob and Amy return to work, they enlist the help of their two teenagers, Teddy and PJ, and 10-year-old son Gabe to care for Charlie. Now the older siblings have to pitch in and get familiar with all things baby while navigating typical teen lives. Each episode features Teddy's video diary, one she's creating for Charlie to use for advice after Teddy has grown up and moved out.
"Good Luck Charlie" is seen Sundays at 8:30 p.m., ET/PT. It is seen on Disney Channels around the world, with full episodes available on DisneyChannel.com, Disney Channel on Demand, mobile providers including Sprint TV, MobiTV, AT&T CV and Verizon V Cast, iTunes, Netflix and onboard airlines.

"Good Luck Charlie" is a production of It's a Laugh Productions, Inc. It carries a TV-G parental guideline.

Disney Channel is a 24-hour kid-driven, family inclusive television network that taps into the world of kids and families through original series and movies. Last night's "Kit And Kaboodle" was the first episode of the series that I liked, but I still lack a general interest for the series as a whole. As such, I'm pretty disappointed about this announcement. I had been hoping Good Luck, Charlie would be a Cory In The House-esque failure for the network, lasting two seasons, then fading into obscurity, while the stars can go on to better projects. With the advent of this upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie, it looks as if my wishes won't come true. I can at least hope the writing for the series will remain at the level of "Kit And Kaboodle."

Well I'm glad it got a second season, I knew it would with the ratings it got too. However, it already gets an original Disney movie? Holy cow.
LOL LOL Suite Life has been going on for two series, with its third season now for Suite Life on Deck and it still hasn't really gotten an actual movie.
This and Wizards of Waverly Place will be the first series that have had movies. Wonder what can be done though? Wizards yah, cuz they have magic and cause things happen to them. But with Good Luck Charlie, its a regular family, having normal family things happen to them. The only thing I can see, is them going on Vaction too some where and having some thing crazy happen to them  Well any ways guess I'll wait for the summary.

Even Stevens had a DCOM for it's series finale, and Hannah Montana and Lizzie Maguire both had feature films that tied into their shows.

This is good news for me. Good Luck Charlie is the only Disney Channel show I watch and a movie would be entertaining for me. I understand Disney Channel making this decision, Good Luck Charlie is one of their top shows right now, even higher than Hannah Montana and The Suite Life on Deck. Great news!

I feel the same way as you. In fact, the only person I like is the young girl playing Charlie. Honestly, I couldn't deal with Teddy mugging at the screen for most of the episode when she's making the video diaries. If I was Charlie and grew up to having to watch the videos, I would had been scared seeing her face so close to the TV screen. I think that the show's being put way too high on a pedestal. It's not the best and from the commercials, nothing I would take the time to watch on TV. The film could go the way of some of the others post-Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie and get mediocre ratings but won't make the executives think of even canceling the series.

Plus Cory in the House, to my knowledge, died off after having two seasons so we don't know what could happen between now and the time the second season and film are finished pre- and post-production. In fact a lot of Disney Channel shows died off after two seasons, mostly the ones that were animated, but again, like my personal feelings as to how and why JONAS did so well to warrant a green light on a second season with a unneeded name change, similar to that of Hannah Montana Forever, who knows what will and can happen?

We'll see if Hannah Montana could top Good Luck Charlie, we already saw, overall, that Good Luck Charlie topped The Suite Life on Deck.
