LUCKY TUESDAY
NXT Rookie Lucky Cannon lost his first match and was berated by WWE Pro Cody Rhodes. Cannon's WWE Pro, Mark Henry, challenged Rhodes to a match against the NXT Rookie for week three of competition. Will Cannon's luck turn around or will Rhodes teach this NXT Rookie his next lesson?

Okay, they're building toward Matt Striker getting back in the ring, getting blindsided 2 weeks in a row by Cody Rhodes & now Husky Harris. Harris may be IRS' kid, but ya wonder if ol' Irwin neglected to take him to the gym........
Kaval is being embarassed by Team LayMe-O as we'd all feared. That pink shirt has to go! The man's got a voice like James Earl Jones or Dennis Haysbert, which makes him stand out. Can't believe he didn't cut a lot of promos in TNA. He's 0-2, so of course the comparisons to Bryan Danielson will now begin......
Alex Riley didn't look quite as sharp tonight, needing Miz to bail him out. However, as the replay showed, Miz couldn't quite make it work with the Skull Crushing Finale, as his left hand didn't quite reach Percy Watson's neck. Might need a different finisher for guys like Watson......
The rankings after week 3:
1. Michael McGillicutty
2. Alex Riley
3. Husky Harris
4. Kaval
5. Percy Watson
6. Eli Cottonwood (just too plodding despite the win)
7. Titus O'Neil
8. Lucky Cannon

Carlito and Michael Tarver = Zack Ryder and Titus O'Neil thus far in NXT, and that isn't good. Just like Kaval is staring his losing streak like Daniel Bryan (so far).
NXT was pretty good last night, I wasn't paying to much attention to Cody Rhodes and Lucky Cannon so I thought that match was ok.
Here are my rankings:
1. Alex Riley
2. Michael McGuilicutty
3. Eli Cottonwood
4. Kaval
5. Percy Watson
6. Lucky Cannon
7. Husky Harris
8. Titus O'Neil

What is it with all these new women? Just a couple weeks after Jamie Keyes shows up we get Ashley Valence who during her introduction of the Pros showed she is not only another yeller (though I thought Jamie was better this week), but a strong offender of the streeeeetched ooooouuut riiiing annooouuuuuuunce-ments. I hate that.
I found it interesting that while the personalities of Miz & Alex Riley would seem to match up about perfectly, they didn't get along perfectly in their match with MVP & Percy Watson. Riley got the win via Miz's pinfall victory though, so I guess it worked out.
I mentioned in the premiere talkback that Watson reminds me of a character played by Eddie Murphy in a bad Eddie Murphy movie and I want to further point out that I mean a secondary character that is just there for comedic effect and make you go "Is that Eddie Murphy too?" Interestingly enough, Randy Watson is the name of one of Murphy's extra characters (the band leader: "Give a hand to my band, Sexual Chocolate.") in Coming to America (not a bad Eddie Murphy movie though). You can debate whether or not this is bad, but the longer the movie goes, the more annoying those secondary Murphy characters get if they keep showing up.
If you ask me to pick between Michael Tarver and Titus O'Neil, I'm gonna take Tarver. At least he's interesting. O'Neil seems overly bland. I get nothing from this guy.
Michael McGillicutty continues to impress. His on-screen promo was decent and he looked good in his win over the still not that impressive Titus O'Neil.
I noticed that in Jamie's ring announcement, Eli Cottonwood weighed "over 300 pounds." What, did you forget, Jamie? 300-plus is not high enough to not give the exact weight. It shouldn't be that hard to get quality ring announcements out of whoever is in the ring. Get some note cards and memorize them before you go into the ring. If a high school student can do it for speech class, a person paid to do ring announcements ought to be able to manage it.
I was disappointed to see Kaval lose to Cottonwood, especially in a much quicker match than he had last week with Riley. I've been willing to role with the Lay-Cool stuff, because I believe it can give Kaval more exposure and highlight his serious nature, but I cannot put up with that "Property of Lay-Cool" polo shirt no matter what color it is. The only thing I liked about that segment was Josh taking Cole to task after for his stupid little comment: "That's hilarious, you just ruined everything that we just saw on television."
"These actions will be met with the appropriate consequences." I'll be interested to see what that means in another e-mail from the GM. Sounds like Barrett and the others could get a thank you rather than punishment.
I don't want to dislike Lucky Cannon, but his video didn't do a lot for me. I liked hearing the story of his (I assume real) nickname, but that was about it.
Cody finishing the Rookie off in 3:58 was good with me. Seemed like Lucky didn't take the Cross Rhodes quite right as it wasn't as impactful as it usually is.
The "closing arguments" were decent way to wrap up the show before the vote next week. I'll just break down each one with a random thought or two...
Riley: So is he Big Bully Busick? Is he gonna send a kid's balloon up the rafters next week? You got 45 seconds, dude. Then give the mic back.
Kaval: I knew time was gonna run out on him when he paused a couple of times. I was almost upset with him for doing that.
Titus: What does "make it a win" even mean? It doesn't sound like anything!
McGillicutty: A couple weeks ago when he followed what others had said it worked. Picking on O'Neil this week was a waste of his time.
Cottonwood: 'Actions speak louder than words' is a good general theme for this big man.
Watson: "Oh yeah!" Tell me, you can't see an Eddie Murphy character saying that.
Lucky: He's going to be lucky not to be in the bottom two in a few weeks.
Husky: Cody Rhodes seemed to give his approval after his Rookie attacked Striker. I was not expecting that. Matt should get hazard pay. As annoying as I find him sometimes as the host, after what I saw of Ashley Valence this week, I don't want her in this role.

Apparently, Jamie can't add, or whoever wrote her cards can't. In the tag team match, there's no way either team's total weight adds up to 200+, unless Miz & MVP suddenly lost a ton of weight between them. Miz is somewhere between 225 & 235, that much I know.
Come to think of it, after suggesting last week that Miz & Riley could be comparable to Reggie Mantle & Eddie Haskell, I can see that those personalities can be interchangable, though Reggie & Eddie really weren't the bullying type, but rather a prankster (Reggie) and a scam artist (Eddie). I guess that makes Alex to be Biff from the "Back to the Future" movies if you want a more current analogy. If anyone's got better ideas....!
As for Percy, yeah, I think the character does look like something from an Eddie Murphy movie, but then, didn't Eddie make a movie called, "Showtime" once? Yeah, I think he did......
yes But matt stalker got his bell riung again.

I had to wait to catch the replay but overall not a bad show at all. The tag match was alright. It gave Percy a chance to show off but Riley lookedw weaker with the Miz having to make the save. Joe Henning looked good in a short match with Titus. Kaval continues to impress me but he couldn't overcome the size of Cottonwood, I hope we are not taking the same path the Bryan took with Kaval. Lucky was alright but didn't impress me, surprisingly Cody though did, that's probably one of the better matches I've seen him wrestle. And Husky got some spotlight too thanks to imitating his mentor. Here are my rankings going into next week's poll.
1) Joe Henning
2) Alex Riley
3) Kaval
4) Percy Watson
5) Husky Harris
6) Eli Cottonwood
7) Lucky Cannon
8) Titus O'Neal
