Last week, we met the new NXT Rookies and their Pros. The Rookies got much more than they bargained for when, perhaps in a response to the season one Rookies destroying RAW, they attacked the Rookies at the close of show. How will the Rookies and Pros get along tonight?

WHAT'S NEXT?
After their week one initiation by the WWE Pros, the eight new NXT Rookies return for week two of competition. But how will the WWE Pros react to last night's season one Rookie attack on Raw, this time targeting Raw GM Bret Hart?

I'm taking it Miz is once again at E3 to help promote the latest WWE video game game.

I look at it as Mizizzle shirking NXT responsibility. Sure, he's a company guy and will do what's asked, but then again, Alex Riley didn't need him tonight. He & Kaval had the better match by far, but we can already see another "Daniel Bryan" situation building if they don't allow Kaval to go over. He misses the Warrior's Way (which Josh called, thanks), allowing Riley to hit the TKO. Good match.

Come to think of it, Riley & Miz is kind of like Reggie Mantle getting together with Eddie Haskell. The other reason Miz wasn't there was he wasn't getting any mic time with those other two mic hogs (LayFool) around.

Nice touch with Zack acknowledging he's not that seasoned (3 years with the big club).

I've seen swinging neckbreakers before, but Michael McGillicutty's may be the fastest ever. Good stuff.

Matt Striker has taken bumps twice in 8 days. Anyone wanna bet that Matt will dig his trunks out of storage soon? Cody Rhodes better watch his back.....

Rankings after week 2 (now that all 8 have competed):

1. Alex Riley
2. Kaval
3. Michael McGillicutty
4. Percy Watson
5. Eli Cottonwood
6. Lucky Cannon
7. Husky Harris
7. (tie) Titus O'Neil

My money's on Mark Henry, Lucky Cannon, and Matt Striker jumping Cody Rhodes next week! If Cody had any sense, he'd bring his dad Dusty Rhodes and his rookie Husky Harris with him to the fight.

But both matches were good, and LayCool needs less screentime. Those two Gossip Girl rejects, along with Maryse, make the Beautiful People from TNA look good! As I said before, William Regal should have been Kaval's pro from the get-go.

More likely, Husky's old man, IRS, instead of Dusty. During the Kaval-Riley match, I hit the mute button so I wouldn't have to listen to LayFool's self-serving commentary and put themselves over more than Kaval. Regal would be a better fit, but so would Christian, who knows Kaval from TNA.

Hey it's never too early to rank the guys. I have to say that was one of the best NXT episodes I've ever seen. The Riley/Kaval match was great and so was the tag match, the pros let the rookies wrestle each other which was good. Here's how I would rank the rookies after 2 weeks:

1) Alex Riley- solid in the ring and hopefully gets more time on the mic. He gets the nod for winning against Kaval.

2) Kaval- put on a great match last night. I've seen him on TNA but it's nice to see him get a chance to shine. Though I fear this is the whole Bryan thing over again.

3) Joe Henning- he definently wrestles like his father and has great athletic ability. That swinging neckbreaker was nasty.

4) Husky Harris- I said it last week the guy has some sort of goofy charisma that makes me like him. Plus he's not bad in the ring with his old school style.

5) Percy Watson- He didn't get to wrestle much last week but like Harris has some goofy charisma.

6) Lucky Cannon- Not bad in ring but doesn't have a developed a character yet.

7) Eli Cottonwood- Very Big and very raw but he has great potential. If learns what he needs to, he can pick up the "monster" mantle that Kane has.

8) Titus O'Neal- I'm not saying he's bad, he just didn't really get to wrestle or be on the mic.

Overall this group of rookies is far better than the last season's. They are very entertaining and can actually wrestle.

I pretty much never liked Lilian Garcia, but I will say this for her, she never shouted the ring announcements. That Lauren Mayhew was far worse, but this Jamie Keyes does it too. I would rather have kept Savannah in this role.

I don’t know that a high level of tension would really worked week-to-week on NXT, so I liked MVP half-apologizing on behalf of the Pros and the Rookies all seeming to accept it. If I were a Rookie, I don’t know that I would buy the “initiation” line, but it worked.

Despite Lay-Cool introducing it, I liked the Kaval video. Kaval has an impressive resume, and I liked him being given the opportunity to talk about it.

Alex Riley may have gotten the win, but I thought Kaval looked great en route to his narrow defeat. Certainly could have done without Lay-Cool on commentary or promising to coach Kaval up, but I liked watching the match.

Eli Cottonwood is a very interesting young man to say the least. I’m not sure why, but I feel like his personality is more true to life than it is a character.

Zack Ryder’s talk with Titus O’Neil was neat to see. We get so few of these backstage/off-site segments; it would be nice to see more of them.

Husky Harris (ohmygod, it’s still a horrible name) saying his football coach described him as “an army tank with a Ferrari engine” sounded pretty fitting and after what we saw last week, I believe it.

If you listened carefully to Cole, it sounds like Kofi will be defending the I-C Title against McIntyre on Sunday. Though it still isn’t updated on the Fatal 4-Way site.

If Joe Hennig really did take ‘McGillicutty’ because it’s his mother’s maiden name that would make his change more okay with me (though still not okay). A quick glance around the Internet garnered nothing on Mama Perfect’s original last name. Regardless of his name, I was impressed with the way he finished off Lucky Cannon. It came out of nowhere.

“What did somebody tell you ‘Hey kid, you look good, you should be a wrestler’?”
I don’t hate Lucky Cannon, but I loved Cody’s comment that sounded like something I would believe Johnny Ace would say. :p

Cody Rhodes may not be one of Matt Striker’s favorites anymore after he showed the NXT host first hand ‘what he can expect.’ I very much like Striker at the broadcast table, but sometimes he can be pretty annoying on NXT.

What happened to Savannah?

Nice opening with Kaval and Alex Riley, I really enjoyed the match.

What happened to Savannah? It appears she is now the secondary backstage interviewer along with Josh.
