You know how the DePatie-Freleng 1960s Roadrunners, especially 1965's HIGHWAY RUNNERY (Larriva) would use Joe Sirucusa/Jay Ward effects (like Booong! and so forth)?

Well, those certainly were out of place in WB, as were the Hanna-barbera ones when ALex Lovy moved from Hanna-Barbera to WB.

It would be odder still for me to expect Cool Cat to run with DePatie-0Freleng's weeweeweeeeWEEE sound FX due to the Pink Panther shape of the tiger, but they went all the way with those H-B FX with the tiger's WISHWISHWISH sound so often heard in hanna-Barbera cartoons.

Interestingly most of all, the "Hanna-Barbera" cartoon sound FX actually often originated at MGm and Disaney, and even UPA, and also Warners had (AQUA DUCK, 1963) an effect when Daffy turns into "crushed duck" or whatever, that is a piano sound, similiar to one UPOA used then, that which H-B used in transformation scenes later.

Also, the issue of blending one style with another in such shows as ROGER RAMJET with HB sound FX but with jay Ward style (Gamma) animation (Ken Snyder/Koren,lprod.,Freds Calvert & Crippen), and the West coast/East coast work on King Features Paramount Snuffy SMith cartoons;ergo, WInston Sharples music with Paul Frees very out of place voices.

Over on rec.arts.animation there have been very recent threads on this.Charlie Brown (Lee Mendelson/Bill Melendez), and Garfield as well, used both HB and Warners, and in some cases Jay Ward Fx.

When have you seen real out of place sound effcets, whether Jay Ward, WB, HB or whatever and by this I mean not in a similiartly done cartoon (Ruby-Spears using HB Effects, ain't what I mean but comments on UPA and WB using said effects).

I know some, like Howard Fein here and a few others have commented and made some interesting comments..I'm sure Jon Cooke himself has noited how odd it was when RABBIT STEW AND RABBITS TOO was a 1969 WB that sounded (and looked) like then current HB and DFE cartoons!
