Even the 90's aren't safe. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0330428/) no details on release date or scripts.

Personally I haven't seen the movie, but it doesn't look like a title difficult to adapt quickly. and it looks more like a TV movie material, than Movie theater type of movie..

Wow. Okay, I can understand wanting to remake popular movies from years past, but . . . Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead? Has so much changed in the last twenty years that it's time to retell this story for a new generation? Haha!! I saw the film once back then, and frankly the only thing I remember about it was that Christina Applegate was hot. :D :p

Seriously??

Since the original movie was largely (if not exclusively) a showcase for Christina Applegate (who was riding high on Married...with Children heat at the time), I'm guessing that this remake will be built around some '00's teen star like someone in the Disney tweencom canon.

The only thing I remember about this movie is the title.

Let's take bets on which tween star it will be. I've got Miranda Cosgrove.

What's on the slate after this, Bio-Dome??

It's not like they can do a worse job with the movie. Don't get me wrong, I liked the original, but there was just so much wasted potential that never got put to use. I mean, the trailers made it out to be a really dark comedy, but then the actual film stopped being dark about 20 minutes in and became an average PG rated family friendly (for the most part) flick.

What's on the slate after this, Bio-Dome??Since The Nostalgia Critic already reviewed 'Bio-Dome', he should give 'Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead' a fair shot. Thaddeus Plotz over at Warner Bros. still regrets losing money from that one. :p

I was thinking Miley Cyrus. She's 17 or 18 now, right? Or perhaps Demi Lavato (sp?) or Selena Gomez.

I really hope it's not Kristen Stewart. Miley Cyrus is at least cute, and she doesn't have that perpetual "sad puppy dog" look that Stewart has.

If ever anyone said in the recent past that the Hollywood movie industry was starved for original ideas, they were wrong. NOW it officially is.

Was the original even that big a hit that people will flock to see it for nostalgic purposes?

Not really. And if they do remake it they need to cast a younger actress. As much as I'm in love with Christina Applegate she was way too old to be believable in the role. She was 20 at the time, a little to old to buy that she would have any trouble taking care of her brothers and sisters or that her parents would think they needed a babysitter with her in the house.

Well, to be fair, at the beginning of the movie, none of the five kids was even remotely responsible. Applegate's character, Sue Ellen, even said that if they were left alone that 'Kenny would watch Zack; Melissa will watch Walter' and she'd otherwise be free to do whatever she wanted, hence why the mother hired the babysitter.

Yah, gee another thing you'd think would have redone along time ago :p
I mean, its so dang cheap and easy to do, just get a couple of hott actors and actress and hopefully a fun storyline to due with a baby sitter being dead.

Precisely. Only a select few people even remember Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead even existed, let alone remember anything about it. Mark Gordon isn't remaking DTMtBD because it was a hot movie; he's doing it because taking an old movie that hardly anyone remembers and giving it 21st century makeover is easier than coming up with your own ideas.

I suppose next we'll be reading about a possible remake of Suburban Commando with John Cena as the alien warrior.

I could definately see Cena following in the Rock's footsteps and doing soley family friendly fare if the 'Fred' movie is a hit.

Don't be silly, it'll be Drop Dead Fred (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1427206/) of course
