For rent- decent sized room, not bigger on inside than out. Reasonable rates. Time Lords welcomed but other aliens need not apply.

Hmm, eleven's general out-of-touch nature was in full bloom in this one. Clearly this is a quite different interpretation of the character to either nine and ten - I don't recall either of them ever being quite such space-cases.

When time got stuck replying the same second I half expected a plasticine alien to pop up and say "do not worry, my Breetish friends!" before whacking the screen to get it going again.

Not that anyone will get that reference.

Amusing that after all that, a TARDIS room did appear.

An enjoyable little episode that sadly probably got ignored for the world cup. The original comic book premise sounds to have worked mildly better but I don't think this was a bad episode, just kind of predictable. It's the near standard 'calm before the finale storm' episode.

One thing I do wonder about is the Doctor's characterisation. The writers across the season all seem to be a bit off in quite how bonkers they portray him- Moffat has him wacky but still quite in touch with humans whilst other writers have had him as a mix from scatterbrained to just flat out sailing in cloud cuckoo land. It feels somewhat inconsistent and, as MF points out, is quite a departure from the clearly in tune previous Doctors. Even things like him completely being off with cues of the era seems out of place. For what's supposed to be Moffat's 'the best was yet to come' Doctor, he seems to have lost several important skills.

I wonder if we'll get any clarification on where the ship came from. You'd think someone trying to mimic Time Lord techology would be quite significant.

As for next week....Every monster ever to the Doctor: "BUNDLE!"
