Actually this is only peripharally about The Last Crusade, but I was wondering which Indiana Jones girl everyone else thinks is the best, and/or who do you think Indy really cared about the most.
AMC's been running Raiders and Doom like every other day and I'm kinda watching it now. As I think about it, of all the movies I've ever seen the three Indiana Jones films are probably my top three as far as volume goes. I reckon I've seen them 20-30 times a year, at least in part for the last 15 years, (I'm only 23) Star wars is up there for sure, but nothing compares to Indy.

Anyhow I think Indy likes Marian the best, there's the history, much more than either of the others, and well that last one was a psycho Nazi whore. Willie's okay but I like Marian the best too, she's got that spunk, plus she's probably the youngest, the whole ten years thing, her age vs the supposed details of their relationship I'm guessing she was about 17 or 18 when she got involved with Indy. I think Willie's already into her 30's there in Doom.
This could totally could turn into a character analisys, but I leave it at that. Each of them have flaws. Of the Three films Raiders is likely the strongest, but I like Crusade the best just because of Connery. That's a great duo right there, Jr and Sr, heh.

And hey what is up with Marian and Belloq, she said she liked him, it's the whole Indy=Belloq thing. Weird, cause I really think she did. Hmmmmm I want to examine the Indy/Belloq thing more closely.....

I'm rambling, whatever, post your thoughts about the Jones franchise or not. I love the films. Now it's time for Face Melting Nazis!!! Yay! Face Melting Nazis!

Marian was definitely Jones's biggest flame. She knew him for ten years and he was pals with her father. The girl in the second movie was just a random idiot female tossed in so there would be a female lead and a romantic situation. The girl in the third movie was definitely cool though, she was just so psychotic. But their relationship (if you want to call it that) wasn't really romantic.

I never saw anything between Marian and Belloq. He captured her, and obviously had a thing for her (maybe its because she was Jones's girl, a topic that he would have discussed at his next therapy session if he hadn't died) but she didn't like him. She was just flirting with him to try and escape from him/the nazis.

Ahh, face melting nazis...Imagining that scene and replacing the actors with people I knew in high school helped me survive in high school.

"Laughing Boy"(Nazi spy) had his face melted, the Nazi officer's head shriveled up, and poor Belloq's exploded. Sounds like what people I know used to do to frogs and bugs. :D

I don't know about the whole marian Belloq thing, let me go find a transcript real fast....

Criminey the only draft I can find totally does not have the scene where Belloq gives her the dress. Anyhow He says she looks good, she kinda goes all mushes but then they drink his family label, and they're drunk and she tries to escape and she says something along the lines of "I like you Belloq, I like you a lot. I hope we can meet under better circumstances another time" or something. And then of course Indy is all jealous. Hey this draft is all lame, it doesn't even have that whole Jealosy thing going on in the Pit of snakes "Where'd you get that dress, did *he* give it to you?" that's a great line and later when they're on the ship she turns it around on him and he asks where she got the nightgown and she answers "*He* gave it to me..."

Hmm this scene is weird this is from a draft that's dated 1979, and listed as 3rd Draft:

Indy sits on the cot, takes off his boots. He leans back
against the wall and rubs his eyes. Marion sits on the
bed, leans back against the wall with him and looks down
at her white nightgown. She chuckles.

MARION
I feel like a virgin bride in this.

INDY
That's what you look like.

MARION
(takes a drink)
There are some things you can recap-
ture in this life, but that isn't
one of them.

INDY
What would you like to recapture?

MARION
(after a long pause)
Nothing. That is the way it is.

He watches her closely as she drains her glass and puts
it down.

INDY
Did I ever say I was sorry I burned
down your tavern?

She turns so their lips are very close.

MARION
No. Then again, I burned up that
plane.

INDY
You saved my life.

MARION
And you saved mine.

INDY
Seems things have worked out kind of
even.

MARION
That's the way I like them.

INDY
Maybe we should consider all past
accounts closed.

Marion thinks about this a long time.

MARION
No. Not yet.

INDY
What else?

She looks into his eyes. A smile jumps from her lips to
his. He kisses her and they sink slowly to the cot.

Ahhh this is okay it's a different dynamic though, a lot more thought between them, the heaviness of the relationship is there a bit better, but the whole "Where doesn't it hurt?" thing was better if not a little more throw away. I guess it accomplishes the same thing though.

You know right after I finished watching Radiers on AMC last night, it came on again immediately afterwards. I think they've been doing this for like the last 3 weeks. It's like a whole Indiana Jones Channel, because tonight Doom is coming on.

I could so dig a whole Indiana Jones Channel. They could do the Movies, the Series, a little bit of the history channel between.

Weee, I guess I'll watch Doom tonight anyhow. BTW does anyone have the official ETA on the DVDs? Wasn't Lucas shooting for AFTER the Star Wars DVD release? it's been a while since I've heard about them. I NEED 5.1 Audio.... I neeeeeeeeeeed it.
