Which Pink Panther DVD of the cartoons is the best to get? I see a few options out there and wondered what the differences are. Thanks!

From my own research, I think the Pink Panther and Friends Classic Cartoon Collection (9-disc set in a pink box) is the definitive set, as opposed to the Pink Panther Classic Cartoon Collection (5-disc set in a white box), and its the one I have my eyes on. The pink box includes the Inspector shorts and such as well while the other set doesn't. If you can live with just the Pink Panther segments then the white set should suffice. If you want the other segments as well, unfortunately right now the pink set seems to be hard to come by for a decent price, but if you if like the live-action Pink Panther movies, the Pink Panther Ultimate Collection is currently a better deal.

A little over a year ago, I bought the 9-disc edition of the "Pink Panther and Friends Classic Cartoon Collection" when Amazon offered it for a ridiculously low price of $30. About a week after I had ordered it, I had noticed the price had jumped back up near full retail.

Anyway, I am quite satisfied with that set, and it should be noted that only the first 6 DVD's in that collection are available separately. Disc 9 is the same as Disc 5 in the stand-alone Pink Panther collector's set. Discs 7 and 8 are only available in the 9-disc collector's set.

Here is what you get in the 9-disc collection:

All 124 Pink Panther shorts (plus bonus materials) - Discs 1-4 & Disc 9
All 17 The Ant and the Aardvark shorts - Disc 5
All 34 The Inspector shorts - Discs 6 & 7
All 17 Roland and Rattfink shorts - Disc 8

So does the set with the films have all of the discs from the 9 disc set included as well? If so and it's cheaper I see nothing wring with getting the films too.

Yes, the Ultimate Collection includes 18 discs: the 9-disc cartoon set, and 9 films. Also, you might like to know that one of the films in the series is excluded because it's distributed by another company, but overall the set is definitely more bang for your buck if you like the films.

Okay, great. I'll get the film set when I buy then. :D That's what I did to get the 40's Superman shorts. I was aware of there being one film missing from the set but it's no big deal, just get it alone and you're fine.

I had already bought the 5-disc (white box) set, and the Ant & the Aardvark single disc, AND the Inspector single disc... THEN, they put out this 9-disc set. And I'm P.O.'d that I can't get the other Inspector cartoons separately. Thanx a lot, MGM... *expletive*

Yet another Cartoon series screws long time collectors. This is why I wait till the whole series is out or done before I buy. I've been burned far too many times supporting an on going series.

If I was you I get this:

-The Pink Panther Ultimate Collection
-The Pink Panther (1963) Collector's Edition
-The Return Of The Pink Panther (2006 Focus Features Release)
-The Pink Panther 2
-The Pink Panther: A Pink Christmas
-BONUS: The Unkown Peter Sellers

If you want just the cartoons then get 2009 Cartoon Collection Box Set and The Pink Panther: A Pink Christmas

Do the bonus materials in one of the sets include the short bits the Panther appeared in before the commercial breaks during the NBC Saturday morning run [most of which were narrated by Marvin Miller]? Such as one where the Panther is attempting to swing only to crash into a tree and Miller intones "No, no stupid not on both sides of the tree".
