After first read by insomniac who was not able to sleep last night, and now is almost 4:00pm. and still not able to sleep, and read the issue after viewing a very disappointing trailer for a new movie that is supposed to reboot a great movie and it's mediocre sequel:
There is nothing as important of the thing I say as what is between the lines, and I do mean between lines, between the visible lines
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think my judgment is terribly clouded, cause I found this to be crap worse than Batman RIP, but that's just after 1st read, but it still has its decent moments.
Yesterday:
Quite confusing, why does a maniac hurt the one he needs to hurt his enemies while they are at the custody of Batman's Deadly foes? What's with the Joke Book that makes it so infamous? I guess the secret is in the book, that is where the mystery shall be found
Today:
Nice fight scenes, ok story. Back to the Infamous Joke Book
Tomorrow:
At least it's good that this old habit of >tt< didn't die. Damian is insane, the way he lets Roboto die like that, eaten by Cannibal rats, it was good to have him analyze a medicine, but how did he come up with it through Roboto's saliva? Oh well, I'll ignore that and look at how Damian saved his little biological brother who is biologically the son of his father, & yet a progeny of a different father(?) and a mother
Days After:
McGuiness is old? World doomed? Then.....?
I guess the mystery in the Joke Book does not involve the closed room killer, cause it was solved to Damian, I believe it is how the thing that made Joker what he is didn't do him as much harm as it did others, that's the joke, the joke of the Chemicals, that's the biggest unsolved mystery, or more likely; HOW? How did this happen to Jack Napier but not to others? Not being more mutated than just his outer physique
Overall: 6.5/10

Yeah, to me if I rate a superhero comic with less than 8/10 it's bad, that's how much I enjoy superheroes, that's how much of a geek of the genre I am

I think the riddle of and indeed the joke of the joke book were it was actually this comic, because you'd have to be insane to understand it and have an idea what was happening ;)

The art by Daniels and Finch was amazing, Finch is my favorite artist of all-time and Daniels is really amazing too, plus the cover reminds me of what Batman is all about. The stories were pretty good but all in all I don't really enjoy multiple stories within a single issue, it was still a pretty fun read though and I'm excited for the next 700 issues of Gotham's greatest crime fighter!

"What can you beat but never defeat?"
I thought this was a really good anniversary issue. It was cool seeing Batman throughout his entire history and all of his various incarnations. There were a ton of crazy concepts, some of which I didn't understand, but I think this was just a good story in itself.

I liked the art, but the story...idk...it wasn't awful or anything, but it didn't jump up and grab me you know.
I did like the story for the present Batman and Robin, with them going to Crime Alley and all.

I'm gonna go with the general consensus that the art is gorgeous and the story is incoherent. But that's usually my typical response to a Grant Morrison Batman story read out of context singularly. I'm sure when the rest of this story is finished and I re-read it altogether it will click. It was an enjoyable read, but it just didn't make any sense. Only time will tell, I guess. Anyway, an improvement over the previous 2 issues where Tony Daniel just destroyed the Riddler for awhile anyway.

Read this a second time yesterday. It made things a lot easier to understand.

Reread it, and well; that's the absolute worst Batman story, pure crap
