This is the talkback thread for "Smurf Justice for June Foray" Pushes For Just What It Says (http://www.toonzone.net/news/articles/33799/smurf-justice-for-june-foray-pushes-for-just-what-it-says).
And while they're thinking about it, don't forget to give some "Smurf Justice" to Michael Bell, Lucille Bliss, Danny Goldman, and any other still-living original cast members from the original Smurfs TV series.

So, does Ms. Foray actually want do a voice in this movie? 'Cause I don't see the point of launching a whole campaign to get her involved in the movie if she's not interested in participating.

I think Don Messick's the only Smurf VA whose no longer with us, so outside of Papa Smurf, I don't see why the producers wouldn't try to approach any of the original Smurf VAs.

Hamilton Camp is gone also. He was the voice of Greedy and Harmony.

Yeah, I believe Halo 2 was his final voice role.
but on the subject of the topic itself. Yeah, I can't see why the original voices (outside of the deceased obviously) can't return.

Also, Paul Winchell who provided the voice of the main Smurfs nemesis, the sorcerer Gargamel, passed away in 2005:(

In any case, I don't know. It sounds to me as though they're trying to invoke the "And the Fandom Rejoiced" trope (formerly called "Cue Cullen") as a short term, spur-of-the-moment "advertisement" for this movie. We don't even know how faithful to Peyo's original comics it will be, or if it will just be a generic "tribute/homage" to, and/or parody of the TV show that doesn't know what it's talking about (in fact, it may even just be a generic movie, period; one that we've seen a million times). Like the old saying goes, "talk is cheap". Just because it features one or more original cast members from a previous show/adaptation/whatever, doesn't necessarily mean the movie will be that good. Now, I'm not saying that it's going to be bad before it ever comes out, I'm just saying that actions speak louder than words. For all we know, they may just be doing this as a publicity stunt for what could be another generic Hollywood film project with a recognizable name (whether or not June actually decides to do it is another thing, but still). I want to watch a movie about The Smurfs, not another generic corporate production with writing that can be seen on any other film. For this reason, and I don't know about anyone else, but involving June Foray or any other original cast me mber is not enough to get me to watch this movie. I want to watch it, but only if the writing is good.

I know, It kinda ruins the movie if it doesn't have good writing.
