The MTV Movie Awards have been a joke for years now, but they've lost all their credibility when they favored 'Twilight' over 'The Dark Knight' for 'best movie'. (Ha! That's a laugh!) If 'New Moon' gets the same kind of treatment, it's over for them. :shame:

Over for them? That'll be just another golden trophy in their office. I read that Tom Cruise reprised his character from Tropic Thunder and received some laughs. I'm not sure what he did but yeah, I agree that this award show is the pits. Plus, I don't like it to have all of the profanity bleeped out. In my opinion, the entertainers should know that they'll going to be seen on TV. If they want to use the same curse words they've used in their other films, then that's fine but don't do it for the sake of trying to be funny.

Well hey, I'm tired of the show getting bleeped up to high heaven so if I do watch this award show, it'll be in bits and pieces while watching The Boondocks.

This is now just another version of the Teen Choice Awards. Clearly anything that is a hit with the tweens at the moment will win no matter what.
I remember the times when actual rebellious movies won. Now it just allows preteens and tweens to choose the nominees and vote on them.
Let's take a look at all the movies that have won Best Movie.
1992 - Terminator 2
1993 - A Few Good Man
1994 - Menace 2 Society
1995 - Pulp Fiction
1996 - Seven
1997 - Scream
1998 - Titanic
1999 - There's Something About Mary
2000 - The Matrix
2001 - Gladiator
2002 - LOTR: FOTR
2003 - LOTR: TTT
2004 - LOTR: TROTK
2005 - Napoleon Dynamite
2006 - Wedding Crashers
2007 - POTC: DMC
2008 - Transformers
2009 - Twilight
2010 - New Moon
Something is seriously not right when we go from movies like Pulp Fiction, Menace 2 Society, Seven, The Matrix, Gladiator, and the LOTR movies, to movies like Twilight. I mean not even the biggest movie of 2009 could beat pretty faces and light up vampires.
How many more Twilight movies is there? Two right? Well we all know what's winning best movie for the next two years.

Well we have Twilight: Eclipse June 30th with Twilight: Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2 coming in 2011 and 2012 respectively so you can say that the next three years will be taking over the Movie Awards.

Well hey, I wonder how many times this awards show is going to be on repeat through the week especially with VH1 carrying it as what they proved to me earlier tonight. Good thing I didn't watch the entire series. Also, did anyone check out The Life and Times of RJ Berger? Not sure if anyone cares about the talkback created for it but I'm glad it's a mini-series because the one running joke that's been advertised in all of the commercials will die a quick a painful death.

You know apparently just being connected to Twilight you win. I doubt Anna Kendrick won that award because of the movie she was in.

I don't even need to look at the spoilers much less watch the actual show, to know that Twilight: New Moon is going to sweep everything again. This is good argument for why viewers shouldn't have most of the say over the voting process.

Well, i was right. 'New Moon' wins by default. (Gee, what a surprise.) I'm sure that'll make the folks at E! very happy. (So happy, they could hardly contain themselves.) I'm surprised they didn't cosponsor the awards so that Ryan Seacrest, and Giuliana Rancic could show up to gush all over 'New Moon's victory.

I mean not even the biggest movie of 2009 could beat pretty faces and light up vampires. To quote Foghorn Leghon, 'There something, I say, there's something kinda YEEEEEEEEAAAAACH about little girls obsessed with sparkling vampires.' Sure, other franchises have their own fanatics, (trekkies, jedis, otaku, ect.) but the 'twihards' take fanaticism to a whole new level, and the media gives them the most attention over anything else.
UGH Of course, MTV is a popularity contest after all :shrug:Why even vote good movies, just vote what the fan girls want blah.Might as well call it 'The Twilight Awards'. The only way things will ever change is if these fangirls soon grow tired of this series, and move onto something better. Then, maybe girls will finally come to their senses, and 'Twilight' will become nothing more than fodder for The Nostalgia Chick to rip apart. :p

So it's pretty safe to say that The MTV Movie Awards use open voting to pick the winners.

I haven't seen the show yet from what I gather it nothing but New Moon I wish G.I.Joe,Wolverine and Transformers were nominated for the Awards I know me and a lot other fans will vote for it bigtime over New Moon. And Tom Cruise reprised his role Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder is the only highlight on the show.

With me finally seeing the Les Grossman performance on another site, it didn't do anything for me. It didn't make me laugh or get excited for J.Lo to start dancing with him. Plus, for more controversy, if you can call it that, Scarlett Johansson and Sandra Bullock had to share a smooch (http://photos.popeater.com/music/popscene-weeks-hottest-pics/70437) on stage. (See Picture 2 0f 79 in the link.) Really guys, if this is supposed to be part of Bullock's return to the limelight as someone other than a victim of a tabloid-covered divorce, then this wasn't the way to go. Also, I was surprised when I found out that actor Kim Jeong's wife going through breast cancer and spoke about it onstage (http://www.popeater.com/2010/06/07/ken-jeong-mtv-movie-awards-wife-speech/?icid=webmail%7Cwbml-aim%7Cdl1%7Clink4%7Chttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.popeater.com%2F2010%2F06%2F07%2Fken-jeong-mtv-movie-awards-wife-speech%2F).

Somebody over on the Superhero Hype! forums (http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=337544&page=4) made a good point about the decline in the MTV Movie Awards (i.e. it becoming a Twilight love-fest when in the past, films like A Few Good Men and Menace 2 Society have won for favorite movie). In the past the MTV Movie Awards have rewarded decent films that are widely recognized as good. Now they are just pandering.

Maybe it's just because I'm older, but the MTV Movie Awards feel much less relevant than they used to. I don't really hate on Twilight (never seen it), so I don't really take it winning everything as a judgment on the awards, though I do kind of expect it to win everything. Looking at that list of Best Movie winners, I remember Quentin Tarantino's speech after Pulp Fiction won, that was good stuff.
I'm slightly ashamed to say I still haven't seen Tropic Thunder, but thought Tom Cruise as Les Grossman was pretty entertaining. I wasn't really bothered or offended by it, but I was amazed at the amount of censored swearing. An artist performing the non-radio edit of a song is one thing, but wow there was a lot of it and then the guy who accepted New Moon's best movie popcorn (no idea who that was) thought it'd be fun to follow suit (I honestly can't blame him) and the censor is literally incapable of keeping up when it comes so quickly.
I imagine I'll watch again next year, but as I said, I sure care a lot less than I did in years past. I don't even vote anymore because it's not worth the effort to me to bother to register.

]the worst thing the did was allow public voting, because fans of films like 'Twilight' will spam the votes, sorry but these people are not just fans they are insane, look at the latest People Magazine it has an article on twilight fans it's scary, yeah every fandom has it's nut jobs but when the normal fans are the minority in a fandom then you really have a problem. Forget the awards and the fandom look into the actual story it basically about a stalker and an obsession. it's scary the crap Stephanie Meyers puts across as romantic and normal and it makes girls think this is whats right.I'll bet you anything that People Magazine has no stories about fanboys wearing helmets pretending to be Iron Man.

Even with some spelling errors for the captions for the pictures, there's a point about MTV being so predictable with what happened last night. I don't know if there's anything else we can say about the series.

A couple more things
- Why was Angelina Jolie nominated for Salt? It's not even out yet. WTF?
- What was up with the excessive swearing? It was funny at first, but then it got annoying. I mean just about every other word was an F-bomb.

Chloe Moretz for Kick-Ass was more deserving for a spot in this award show than Angelina Jolie. Then again, I can see her getting nominated for the awards show next year. If not, then it's a mistake on MTV's part. As for the swearing, it was like everyone were cursing for the sake of cursing.

The network’s censors caught 70 curses. They included 47 variations of “f---,” 11 uses of “s---,” two of “a------,” one slang for breasts, and nine that were unidentifiable. "

What was up with the excessive swearing? It was funny at first, but then it got annoying. I mean just about every other word was an F-bomb.Because MTV is so desperate to stay 'relevant' in today's culture by trying way too hard.
As for the swearing, it was like everyone were cursing for the sake of cursing.Because MTV doesn't want to be seen as 'old hat' to the 'rebellious' youths out there. It's their way of saying 'hey look, we're edgy, we're not all just about 'Jersey Shore', 'Twilight', and 'Super Sweet 16', We're just as 'edgy' as we were back in years past' when it's already too late for them to regain their former glory.

MTV was perfectly fine being 'genuinely cool, and edgy' back during the 80's, and as time went on, they've forgotten how to maintain that approach, and try way too hard to be 'edgy' without being cool.

I don't necessarily disagree with Brent Bozell's general feeling that MTV went way too far with the vulgarity, it seems apparent that he isn't aware that Tom Cruise was doing a reprisal of his character from Tropic Thunder.

They can thank Twilight for this, the show has become irrelevant due to the fact that Twilight seems to dominate the show. When there's no surprises, there no expectations - people won't watch.

That would be sort of ironic considering that up until I think, three years ago, the MTV Movie Awards were taped on a Saturday and then ready for broadcast on a Tuesday. Therefore, it was quite easy to find out who won on the internet or on one of the infotainment shows. But despite the fact that the MTV Movie Awards are now live, they've become even more predictable!
