Does this mean that TBS is the new UPN!?

"I always wanted to be" on TBS, says Ice Cube, star and producer of "Are We There Yet?," which premieres tonight. "All these other stations, you can’t find anybody who will give diverse programming a chance. We had a few other meetings, but I knew if we went to another network, we’d have to teach them. TBS already gets it."

Speaking of which, has anyone seen Are We There Yet: The Series last night? I saw a bit of it but my attention was towards America's Got Talent instead.

What about ABC with My Wife & Kids, and The George Lopez Show?

Those shows have been dead for years. I think Ice Cube's talking about the present and how, ever since the death of UPN, the WB, and with cancellations of shows such as Brothers on Fox, TBS is the channel where shows about minorities can be seen without receiving the Pink Slip before any of the shows get through their first episodes.

Let's hope that Ice Cube doesn't interrupt the programing like Bill Engvall did when he was promoting his show.

I didn't, but apparently enough did it to make the show the number one cable comedy premiere of the summer so far: http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/06/03/tbs%E2%80%99s-are-we-there-yet-arrives-as-first-comedy-hit-of-the-summer/53106

So now the only place to see the black shows is cable? Sad.

Well, next year there's going to be JJ Abrams' Undercovers, but yeah, the trend in white-centric network series has taken a turn upwards over the last few years. We think we've come so far as a people, but all you have to do is watch any broadcast network for an entire night.
