Is Egghead a premature version of Elmer Fudd or is he a separate character?

Depends on who you ask, I think. Personally, I view them as two seperate characters.

Of course, some people insist that the hunter in All This And Rabbit Stew was a version of Elmer Fudd.

I wonder if anyone ever thought to ask Tex Avery. I mean, Egghead was his baby. It is true that in "John Smith" the character is called "Fudd", but Egghead's mannerisms/walk was more at Joe Penner, and the heavier Elmer was partly modeled after Art Bryant.

I never liked the idea that Elmer grew out of Egghead, but it is true. We discussed it at length a little while back, with me providing a chronology of sorts and reasons. See posts #13 through #19 in the thread below....
