For those who don't know who Stephen Perry is, he was a writer for Thundercats and SiverHawks (both for Rankin Bass) in the 1980's and is well known throughout the animation industry, he has also done some work in the comic book industry also. Well, he is apparently missing after a strange set of circumstances leading up to this discovery including severed body parts being found in his abandoned van. I hope everything turns out okay and he turns up, as of now I'm not so sure what to think of everything going on at the moment but this is definitly strange to say the least.

I'm mirroring this to the CBC forum, due to his work in comic books.
His friend (and more well known comic book creator) Steve Bissette discusses the career of Stephen Perry here. (http://srbissette.com/?p=9077)

This is the talkback thread for Steve Perry, "Thundercats" and "Silverhawks" Writer, Missing and Feared Murdered (http://www.toonzone.net/news/articles/33588/steve-perry-thundercats-and-silverhawks-writer-missing-and-feared-murdered).
After reading the latest from Stephen Bissette, it sounds like they have multiple suspects to choose from...is it the roommates, or is the ex-girlfriend, or is it all of them?

This is some pretty messed up stuff. I'd hope that things worked out for the best but it doesn't look good.

Police in Zephyrhills, Florida, have confirmed that ThunderCats writer Stephen Perry, who has been missing (http://robot6.comicbookresources.com/2010/05/thundercats-writer-stephen-perry-missing-after-grisly-discovery/) for more than two weeks, is the victim of an apparent homicide (http://www2.tbo.com/content/2010/may/27/271644/police-missing-zephyrhills-comic-writer-victim-hom/news-breaking/).
His van was discovered on May 16 at a Tampa motel, reportedly near a severed arm. More remains were found in a dumpster at a gas station two miles from his ransacked home. Perry's roommates, James Davis, 45, and Roxanne Davis, 49, were missing as well. However, police later arrested the couple on unrelated charges. They're now considered "persons of interest" in the case.
This is sad.....

R.I.P Stephen Perry, you helped to make my childhood a little more fun.

Why would someone want to do this? I hope it wasn't because of some debt or drugs...

This is such terrible news. I was hoping that he wasn't murdered after hearing about the arm, even though it did seem more likely to be a murder case. It is always tragic when someone passes on, especially in a case like this. While I wasn't a big Thundercats fan, his ability as a writer did help to bring a lot of people happiness.
I hope that Mr. Perry is at peace now and that his friends and family members will be able to get through this emotionally difficult time.

I wonder what the heck the motive could have been to do such a grizzly thing to another human being? My condolences goes out to his family and friends in this time of dispair, hopefully they find the person or persons who did this crime.

:crying: A sad day for us who lived through the 80's era of animation indeed.

What kind of sick , cruel, person would do such a thing to a talented writer in comics and animation. I grew in the 90's watching Thundercats re-runs and to hear that he died in such a horrific way is just disturbing. Seriously why would someone want to kill ? It does not make any sense at all.Even though I'm not familiar with his other work, this is just horrible news indeed.
R.I.P. Steve Perry
My thoughts and Prayers go to his family.

What the? This came out of the blue! Why would someone do this to another person? And especially a person like him? Those were one of my favorite childhood shows! Now we will most definately never see "Thunderforce". Damn. It's sad. R.I.P. !
Wow. I never watched any of the shows he worked on, but to hear of someone murdered in such a gruesome manner--in or out of the animation industry--is just horrifying.

Just reviving the thread to point out that Nat Gertler is reprinting Steve Perry and Paul Chadwick's jungle girl comic book (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=27995)Salimba (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=27995) in October, and it's up for pre-order now from your friendly neighborhood comic book store (http://www.comicshoplocator.com/). Gertler apparently started up the project to try and help out Perry financially at the end of his life, and while the reprint obviously won't help him directly now, 10% of the proceeds from Salimba will go to the Hero Initiative, which also provided financial assistance to Perry as an old comic book pro.
So hey, pre-order it whydoncha? Already adjusted my October pre-orders to get this one. Paul Chadwick doing jungle girl artwork is a pretty good selling point, too, if you ask me.
