I do. I like animes with stong young females in the lead, as well as anime based on videogames that I like. I also like how Disney, and Warner Bros. employed anime houses like Tokyo Movie Shinsa to work on their TV shows.

Well, not all anime have continuing plots and deep characters (go back to all the early complaints about Zoids Zero was bad because of this) and not all american toons are haphazard (shows like Gargoyles, Exosquad, and even Mighty Max come to mind).

I do like some animes.
I like them because they are more free in Animes
(for example, if they want to draw a character nude, they'll do it.)
Tell Disney to draw Ariel or Jasman naked.
I also like them becasue they are something different. And people of all ages can enjoy them.

Actually, "Japanese anime" would be politically correct.
Anime is short for Animeshon/Animation. If they'd import Scooby Doo, it'd be "American anime" to them. It took on somewhat of a slang with American, though. Sort of like "Otaku". When the majority of a reigion uses a word wrong, it takes on a new meaning, so I guess it could be right OR wrong depending on how you look at it.
Heh... I guess with this reply there's not much need to say "I like anime!", is there?

woo, Anime, yay!! Otaku rules ^-^. I find Anime just so interesting and entertaning. The music is absolutely wonderful, the art always varies from a little to a lot and the storylines are simply incredible...most anyways. Yes, there is crappy anime, just like there are crappy American cartoons, but boy are there some real gems. Anyone ever Cosplay? That is so much fun!!!!

Basically I was pointing out the fact that calling it Japanese Anime is redundant since "anime" tends to be the popular title for all things animated that come from Japan, since in Japan all things animated (regardless of origin) is called anime... unless you're French. ;)
And back to the original question: do I like anime? Well it depends on the show. I'm a fan of animation, so it doesn't matter what geographic area the show originated from, just as long as I like it... well then I like it. :p

I like Takahashi stuff like Ranma and cute stuff like Tenchi or Slayers. Cowboy Bebop is godlike. One good thing about anime is there are a lot of different types to choose from, to suit different tastes. For me, for example, most of the more heavy Sci-fi stuff is boring or hard to make sense of, even though I enjoy SF novels.
I run screaming from the perverted, LA Blue Girl type stuff. Even on the milder side too many animes contain attitudes toward women that, while I understand as cultural artifacts, I don't necessarily want to watch myself.

The only animes I don't care for are hentais. Those are too much for me. I like how anime can have adult meterial, but I want them to have taste, and creativity. I'd rather watch the Pamela Adnerson/Tommy Lee video than A hentai, and that's saying something.

this thread is going absolutely no where with responses like, "i do" or "heck yeah" and the like.
although i like both american animation and anime, some anime i have seen has brought me to tears with dramatic scenes. i have to experience that with american animation, so anime has more range in terms of story telling than american animation that i have seen.

I do I do!...*raises hand*
My favorite japanimations are "The Rose of Versailles", " Robotech", " Candy Candy" , "Escaflowne" and many more.
I just love the way they draw there characters and their plots are more interesting than american plots. The american dubbing does no justice to some anime series though :(
