His wife released a statement to Blabbermouth a bit ago confirming that he has lost his battle with stomach cancer.

i cant believe it. ronnie was a great musician. this is terrible. R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio.

That's sad to hear. I was hearing about it yesterday but it was reported as false. However one report did say he was not in a good condition, I didn't think he'd pass so soon after hearing it though.

It wasn't all that long ago that he was on "That Metal Show", and was one of the musicians who promoted VH1's "Rock Against Autism" campaign (w/Joe Perry, Steven Tyler, Rob Halford, Robert Plant, Dee Snider, Vince Neil, et al). You can bet FM radio will be playing blocks of Dio records tonight and for most of the week.

I was shocked to hear that such a rock metal legend passed away. Like everyone else I thought the report was false, but then I found out he is now in heaven rockin with the angels now.
R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio you will be sorely missed by your fans,friends and most importantly your family. :(
