i was reading a review for SW:AotC, and it seems like we have another likeable star wars villain(s). Darth Vader is probably tops because he is cool and such as bad@**. Boba Fett had all of 5 minutes in "Empire" and he was an instant hit. i swear, all the star wars villains are liked more than the heroes of the movies. the only guy that sucked was Jabba. what is it about these villains that fans dig?

You said it yourself: They're all wonderful badasses. Add Darth Maul to that list while you're at it.

They're just..cool.

Like I've been saying..Legolas is the Boba Fett of LOTR. I know alot of people who like him, and he wasn't in the movie that long...

but back onto the topic of Star Wars....yeah, the guy in AOTC who will be liked is definitely Jango Fett..I mean..COME ON..the suit just screams "buy my figures, t-shirts, bed sheets, toothpaste and underwear!" :D

What are ya nuts?? Jabba rocked! Fett sucked - he just stands there with a gun, and then eventually gets eaten. At least Jabba got to die looking at a hot woman!

Don't let Rocky hear you bash Fett, or all the Force in the world won't be enough to put your bits and pieces back together again. ;)
Yeah, I'm a Darth man. There's something about a villain we can relate to. It's like, "You know, I've suffered. I could be a villain too if my moral compass were that buggered up. What keeps me from going down the dark path?" It scares and excites us simultaneously to realize we can empathize with a Vader or a Magneto or a Joker....

Jabba was cool, yeah, ROTJ is my favorite of the series, but I think when he said jabba sucked he meant that he isnt likeable. Jabba is a sick b@stard just for the sake of it. He`s all seven deadly sins rolled up into a guy with enough money and power to get away with it all. And he`s sick in the head, too. People have actually asked why Jabba digs humanoid females, and Lucas says it`s actually not supposed to be normal for his race... other hutts would look at Jabba`s attraction to leia as a sort of bestiality...

Have you ever wondered if he had ANOTHER backup hole-with-monster-in-it for when the Sarlaac failed?

He probably would've had them staked out somewhere in the Judland Wastes....just waiting for a kryat dragon to come buy and munch on 'em or something...

Or, he could've just taken them to the furthest point out from any settlement and leave them there. The exposure and lack of water might've killed them.

Eesh! Why am I thinking of ways to torture? I think I need a drink...

the only thing Jabba was for was putting Princess Leia in a bikini. other than that, he is bleh.

What exactly do you mean by "bleh"?

If I considered any of the villians on the Star Wars movies to be "bleh" it would be the bounty hunters. Keep in mind, this all just personal preferences, so no need for the Fett fans to get in a an uproar. But honestly, I couldn't care less about Boba Fett. He's not got any interesting dialogue like Vader or Palpatine. He doesn't repulse me (in that good way) like Jabba does. He doesn't have any flashy fighting skills like Maul. He's just bleh. The rocket pack, IMO, is boring. The whole design of of Fett just bores me. I've never understood why he holds any interest for people. In sci-fi/fantasy stories, its the wierd non-humanoid characters like Jabba that appeal to me the most. Or the humanoid characters that you can in some weird way sympathize with, like Vader. Fett doesn't have any of those qualities. He's just a glorified Storm Trooper, IMO.

Rather it is star wars, LOTR, or any other show or movie, the villian is a major part.

Their are all kinds of villians

The two face villian- Tim Curry plays this part well.

The Phsyopath

The coniving "bastard"- This is how i see Lex Luthor in S:TAS

The Once was good, now is bad villian.

and so on (anyone can add who i missed)

The job of the writers is to make you hate the villian, but at the same time like him.

If you do, the writers did their job

I think what's interesting is that for all the Imperials, bounty hunters and (presumably) a Sith looking for Han Solo... it was Boba Fett who actually found the guy. If you think about it, he's the closest the SWU gets to a Batman. Design-wise, I like armor in general and Fett's armor is particularly seems to have a real sense of the major bones and muscles.

you wouldn't be defending Jabba just because he looks a little bit like Clayface would you?

I've never understood the love for Mr Fett. To be fair, he does have a strong animated part in the Star Wars Holiday Special, but I have a feeling that the majority of the cult following Fett has garnered hasn't even seen that... dull one liner bit of merchandise - that seems to be all Fett's role in the films add up to. Of course, he has been very much embelished into a greater character in the comics/books.

Greedo is my favourite - NON special edition version. So pointless, so full of enthusasim, yet ultimately, so useless.

A great scene that rivals nearly all the villains in SW - with the exception of Vader's gloating session with Obi Wan...

Hehehe. That's one of my favorite parts of that flick - cracks me up every time I see it.

"Or else PIZZA, is gonna send out, for YOOOU!"

... My favorite bounty hunter was Zuckuss, not Boba :)

Personally, I think the cartoon is one of the better parts of the Holiday Special.... but that's not saying much.

Gotta say I miss the days when it wasn't against canon to draw Boba as blonde, blue-eyed and female... But I figured retroactive diversity was the right way to go...

I'm glad we're seeing bounty hunter chicks. Aurra Sing's not that cute really but Zam Wessell......... mmmmmmmmmmmm

If Boba was female, wouldn't her--um--womanly parts be too visible under that skintight armor?
Though maybe that's how he survived being fed to the Sarlaac--his body was too far gone, so his brain was transplanted into a female body (I have a curious thing for transsexual brain transplants--don't know why). But blonde hair and blue eyes are sort of cliche, aren't they? Why not let Boba be a mousy brunette the bounty'd never even look at twice until she shoves a gat into his ribs?
Or perhaps there have been Bobas througout history, sort of like how some think the Dark Knight is some sort of demon spirit reborn over and over through innumerable generations. Civil-War Fett would rule.... ;)

There are fairly flat-chested women...or don't you men notice these things? ;)
