now, i think giving lex kryptonite poisoning was a stroke of genious on timm and co.'s part (anyone know if that was ever a comic story??).

but, how does he GET it?? lets hear the theories...

here's mine, and it will provide a nice bridge w/ stas (possible spoilers):

in stas, it was mentioned but never really explored (i think they mentioned in "a little peice of home" and maybe somewhere else) the fact that Lex was trying to produce a synthetic kryptonite so he could mass produce it. now i think itd be cool if all the time he spent in the labs and such trying to make synthetic kryptonite led to his over exposure and finally his disease.

or maybe he started to line his buildings or offices w/ it once it was mass producable, sort of like how he did w/ lead. hmmm.

any other theories out there??

i think it may have to do with the fact that lex created a kryptonite missile and liquid kryptonite to inject into supes =)

maybe that blast of k-rad when he hit supes flooded him too and gave him poisoning :D

i'm pretty sure that they took the kryptonite posining idea from the original comics...from what i've heard he wore a kryptonite ring on his finger for years, leading to the poisining and eventual amputation of his whole hand.

which led to Lex Luthor II..and his red mullet.

The kryptonite poisoning will only feed into Lex's disdain for Supes. Will the poisoning have a maddening effect on his mind?

Even though I hate the fact that Bruce Timm got rid of Coporate Lex (why??? :( ), I'll throw in my 2 cents on how he might've gotten Kryptonite poisoning.

Chances are, he probably used the liquified kryptonite from the needles he was going to inject Kal with in "Legacy" and changed it back to solid form. With the K back in it's solid form, he had it fashioned into a small stone he could wear in a ring and wore it practically everyday for the past 2-3 years, afraid that Superman might go rogue again and go after him. If you remember, Lex didn't know that he was under the influence of Darkseid or didn't care. His fear got the better of him, and due to his misunderstanding of the type of effects that Kryptonite has on humans, he got poisoned by it.

Harvey Dent, you've got a great idea there, but it brings up a few questions:

1. Even if Lex Luthor misunderstood the effects of Kryptonite, why wouldn't one or many of the myriad of scientists on his staff tell him about it?

2. I'm not sure that a Kryptonite ring, Rolex watch, or wallpaper in his office/bedroom could keep Superman from going after Lex Luthor to kill him, if he REALLY wanted to. Why can't Superman just wear his lead exosuit when he does confront Lex Luthor next time?

And a third, undirectly related question, but one I've had since "Apokolips... Now!" and "Legacy" aired:

3. Does Darkseid know about Kryptonite and its effects on Superman?

1: Lex has been handling Kryptonite in one form or another since the first season of STAS. If his scientists haven't figured out how it affects humans by now, then they never will.

2: If Superman is unaware that Lex has a Kryptonite ring, then he's not going to think about bringing his lead suit. If he does find out, then he'll use the suit, but because he's trying so hard to regain the public trust, he may not be so quick to go after Luthor and risk having the people turn on him again.

3: He probably does know, but when you have the Omega Effect, are you really going to care about some radioactive piece of rock and how it effects you opponent?
