Piccilo vs. 17: Nice stuff, just after he fused with the God/ Gurdian of Earth.

Bebop Ep 26: The entire thing was poertry in motion, and then "bang."

When Hero and Zechs are fighting in space and they have those well crafted sequences...whew. And I still get chills when I see Hero falling towards the earth in the Wing Zero targeting the piece of the Libra "I will Survive!!!" BTW Endless Waltz was no slouch either.


And finally the last fight sequence in the Batman Beyond episode Final Cut where Terry fights Curare.

Cowboy Bebop session #5, Ballad of Fallen Angels. That's one of the best action sequences ever. Also the end session #26 was great. Don't forget the fight with Tongpu in session #20 :cool:.

The final battle scene between Optimus Prime and Megatron from Transformers the Movie..followed up by Optimus's death scene.

Close second...the opening sequence to GI Joe the Movie with the battle on the Statue of Liberty..this one scene rocks the entire movie!!!

Ballad of Fallen Angels. For anyone who hasn't seen it, Spike kills an entire gang of Syndicate thugs, faces off against his "series rival", and survives a (about) seven-story fall from a church window. It's one of the best action scenes I've ever seen, much less in anime.

Totally agreeing on Ballad of Fallen Angels. The first time I saw it I was so stricken I watched that sequence three more times the same afternoon.

Robin vs. Clayface in Growing Pains. That was incredible, creepy, and touching all at the same time.

The anime Utena usually has great sword duels, but the movie duels were incredible, especially in the beginning with Utena against Saionji. He's just about to humiliate her (she's lost her sword) when Anthy swoops in and saves her. Beautiful.

Trigun also has some excellant fight scenes, especially when Wolfwood cracks out his cross gun and dukes it out with someone else.

Disney has had its share of amazing action scenes. Aladdin and Abu escaping the Cave of Wonders on the magic carpet being chased by a river of lava. Mufasa rescuing Simba from the wildebeast stampede. Hercules slaying the Hydra, and later on, Hades and the Titans. Tarzan fighting the cheetah and swinging through the jungle in deep canvas. I've described these scenes in simple terms, yet they are anything but. They are what immediately come to mind when I think of animated action scenes.

Chalk up another nomination for Superman vs. Darkseid -- "Legacy"

I also love the scene from Batman Beyond's "Mindgames" where it's Terry against the fat albino. One of the best visual moments of the series.

In Beast Wars' "The Agenda" watching BW Megs moving through the control room of the Ark, past all those gigantic G1 Transformers, giving that incredible speech of his and then blowing off Optimus Prime's head and changing all of history in the process.

Noir, episode one -- the shoot out in the construction site.

The End of Evangelion: Asuka and Eva Unit-02 versus the JSSDF and the Mass Production Evas 05-13. One of the most breathtaking animation sequences I've ever seen is where Unit-02 emerges from the lake, lifting the giant aircraft carrier over her shoulders. The fight was also set to the classical piece "Air" maiking it all the more amazing.

Yep, I was gonna mention that one, but you beat me to it. That fight has got to be the coolest one out of the whole seris. I could watch it a million times. :D And the best fight in Dragonball was Piccolo vs. Goku...no contest.

As for great Batman action sequences. Well lesse, like someone already mentioned earlier, The Fight between Clayface and B-man was very well drawn in "Feat of Clay Part 2" and overall it was just awesome. And just for the record, I love any fight between Batman and the Joker. :p

Wow, a ton of great choices that I never thought of but, once reminded, have topped some of my original thoughts! Gotta love the Optimus/Megatron fight (just rewatched it and it is truly awesome!) and I have yet to catch Ballad of Fallen Angels! And how could I have dared forget the Simba/Mufasa wildebeasts scene! True art!


One of the best there is would also be the dramatic, psychological battle between Two-Face and Batman in the episode Second Chance. There were an amazing amount of great scenes in that scene alone, from Batman tricking Two-Face with the fake coin, Batman's instantaneous reaction to Two-Face's goons firing at him, Robin's sudden rescue, and the internal battle between Two-Face and Harvey Dent. And the music during this was probably some of Shirley Walker's most dramatic action pieces!

Oh, and did I mention that Second Chance is one of the contenders for The Best Batman: The Animated Series episode Poll right now? IT is clear to me, that the series of scenes in Tarzan, from about l4 minutes in, where he is being held by his mother,until he wins his fight with the leopard,about 22 minutes in,(he becomes an adult during this series) is the single greatest series of action scenes in all of animation. These are woven together perfectly, and if one includes the music, it is even greater.. The music if one listens carefully, is perfectly mixed in with the action, telling a story matched thru, the song.....While this is not new, in animation, the tremendous animated swinging thru the vines, and sliding on top and thru trees, it is simply amazing....I doubt that much energy will ever be put into animation of that type again. Many of you probably have not seen this, cause it is "Disney" but it is truly great, and all fans of action, movement, and animation should see it to appreciate this great accomplishment. The Duels of Spike and Vicious (Cowboy Bebop Episodes Five, 12, and 26): Chaotic and poetic.

The Opening Credits of "Cops": One of the best openings ever animated, also one of Peter Chang's best (he also did the original openings to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Rugrats)

The Syncronization of Shinji Ikari and Asuka Langley Sohyru (Evangelion Episode 12): The last moments of this episode is like a dance. Graceful and violent.

The Opening Credits of G.I. Joe: The Movie: An image so powerful (The Statue of Liberty under siege by the forces of Cobra), it's still one of the best. Parodied very well in Flash (Vol. 2) #100.

Jubei vs. a whole mess of ninjas (Ninja Scroll): A beautifully rendered scene only outdone by . . .

Jubei vs. Genma (Ninja Scroll): You could feel the punches from the demonic Genma and the headbutts by the hardheaded Jubei.

Unit 01 vs. Zeruel, the 14th Angel (Evangelion): To say anything about this fight will spoil the fun. Check out Eva DVD Collection #6 by ADV for the entire battle

Superman vs. Darkseid (Father's Day, Apokolyps . . . Now!, Legacy): The Man of Steel versus the force of nature. These battles basically gave Superman a decent challenge.

Batman vs. Shriek (Batman Beyond: Shriek): Perhaps one of the coolest fights ever produced. The still-green heir to the Dark Knighthood faces an opponent who can control sound, or in this case, eliminate all but footsteps. Very awesome scene.

Saiyuki Requiem: 1) The opening, with the four of them going up against some hundred or so youkai armed with catapults and such. VERY nice.
2) The last fight when they go up against Dogan, and he self-destructs the mansion, sending the millions of paper airplanes he kept flying through the air, then reappears and the fight starts back up again.

Fushigi Yuugi, As hitare vs. Nuriko. The CRACK when Nuriko breaks As hitare's neck is....::shudder:: (Had to cheat on the furball's name to keep it from being bleeped..^^;;; )

Furi Kuri: Haruko vs. the guitar god mech. THAT was just awesome.

Yami no Matsuei: When the Saagatsu-possessed Tsuzuki attacks Juuouchou in the "Demon's Trill" arc. Suzaku and Byakkou were incredible.

RoD : all of the action sequences in this one were amazing but the best set of action sequences in this one was in the third episode where you have Yumiko fighting the lightning dude with the sword made of yen, at the same time Nancy is fighting Nancy, and then you have poor Drake trying to fight against the giant bug...he is so unlucky.

Noir : my god this series puts the Bebop fight sequences to shame, just see the second episode to know what i mean.

Kenshin : during the Kyoto series...just about all the fights in there, i especially enjoyed the whole challenge of the Oniwabaan vs the Kenshin group. and the final fight between Shishio and Kenshin...just to perfect.

Ballad of the Fallen Angel : the entire episode is poetry in motion.

Memories : when Noubu is being attacked by the JDSF. i was laughing my ass off during the whole ordeal.

I love the nightclub scene. While Clark is throwing his money away hoping Bibbo will fetch him a lead, Bruce takes to the roofs of Metropolis and crashes in on an old acquaintance, Binko. A fight breaks out. The Bat takes down all the hoods in magnificent fashion then proceeds to muscle up on Binko. Supes intervenes and gets his ___ thrown clear across the room! The hood scurries free. Bats steps to give chase, when, WHAM, a killer bodycheck sends Bats slamming into the wall. The 2 exchange some words. Supes tried to intimidate Batman but Bruce has the upperhand by breaking out a chip of Kryptonite, putting the alien in his place. As if that weren't enough, Kal flies home unaware he's being stalked by Batman. Bats sees that Superman & Clark kent are the same man. Smallville is feeling pretty green about now.

Personally, I like the last fight between Valgaav and Xelloss before Dragon Boy opens the gateway to the Overworld. It was just so odd seeing Xelloss be THAT sadistic to an opponent.
